Nighmarisly bad builds: hall of fame.
My friend has some characters with randomly generated builds. Beat that. :P
This is going to get me flamed to hell and back, but...
Every damn high-level tank I teamed with who skipped taunt.
I loved this so much I saved it...
I would like to tell you about a friend of mine. His name is Toggle Man, and he has come to town to show you how things are done. Toggle Man is a Spines/Dark Armor Scrapper. But not a wuss about it, like all those other Spines/Dark Armor Scrappers. He took Lunge, because he had to. And he took Quills, because it's a Toggle, and he's Toggle Man. But as far as he's concerned, you can take the rest of those powers to the DUMP where they BELONG. Oh, that's right. Toggle Man went there. He went there, came back, and brought you a T-Shirt. It says "I'm with Toggle Man, so you'd better Toggle On some RESPECT!" Toggle Man took seven of the nine powers in Dark Armor. Can you guess which ones? Toggle Man does not need to rez. Toggle man thinks self-heals are for little girls and communists. Toggle Man does not hurt. Toggle Man does not die. Toggle Man runs Toggles. Eight of them, so far. Nine. Sprint. Toggle Man is not such a connoisuer of toggles that he'd forget the granddaddy of 'em all. Toggle Man runs Sprint all the time. Because Toggle Man knows what's up. Toggle Man wishes he could run all four Veteran sprints too, at the same time. But we try not to remind him of it... Toggle Man dies a little inside every time he thinks about a Toggle he can't run... Don't cry for Toggle Man. He needs you to be strong. He needs you to Toggle On your Brave Face for him, ok? Ok. Toggle Man likes the Leadership Pool. But not Vengeance. Even though Toggle Man's weak and puny allies are constantly kissing the floorboards around him, Toggle Man will not lower himself to use a Click power on their greasy carcasses. Because he's Toggle Man, and his job is to run Toggles, in case you hadn't heard. Toggle Man likes the Leaping Pool. He likes it so much, he compromised and took Jump Kick! Mostly because Combat Jumping and Super Jumping wouldn't work together, and Toggle Man is unhappy when he has to choose between two toggles. Toggle Man took Acrobatics, because NOBODY pushes Toggle Man around. Are you looking at Toggle Man funny? I didn't think so. Punk. You'd best run home to your Mommy and Toggle On a pair of dry underpants. Oh, Snap! Toggle Man also likes the Speed pool. But not Hasten. Toggle Man's Toggles are always on, and that ain't changing. So who cares when they recover? Not Toggle Man, that's for sure! Toggle Man loves Super Speed and Whirlwind, and he runs them all the time. Sometimes Toggle Man's friends get frustrated, and say, "Toggle Man, could you stop super speeding around, knocking all the guys all over the place?" and Toggle Man, he says "Sure, as soon as you stop BREATHING!" Toggle Man is not gonna keep quiet while suckas be dissin' on his Toggles. Toggle Man likes Tough and Weave! Enough to take Boxing, even! Oh my gosh, Toggle Man has an "Attack Chain" now! But he doesn't use it, because he's not a wuss. He's Toggle Man, and his Toggles are good enough, thank you very much. Toggle Man likes Focused Accuracy. Take that, Stalkers! Toggle Man is watching! Toggle Man isn't going to take any crap from you! Toggle Man also took Conserve Power, which isn't a Toggle, but he sets it on auto and pretends that it is. Awwww yeeeaah. Toggle Man is all about conservation. Toggle Man wishes he could Toggle the Ozone Layer back on, but he can't. Because of the restraining order. Toggle Man loves Toggles so much, he didn't even take a power at 49, because he couldn't find any more Toggles. He is thinking about Confront, though, because he's sick of all these pansies seeing him coming and saying "Oh, crap! It's Toggle Man! We'd best run!" Well not any more, punk! Toggle Man is comin' to get'cha! ... Toggle Man goes through endurance 8 times faster than he recovers it. Toggle Man can only actually finish turning all his Toggles on before his blue bar empties out, if he turns on Rest first, and that makes Toggle Man uncomfortable even if Rest is a Toggle too. Toggle Man wants to know if he can mooch a couple blues? No? That's cool. Toggle Man doesn't trust inspirations anyway. Since they're not, you know, Toggles. What's up with that? Why all the inspirations got to be Clicks, yo? That is whack. Toggle Man. Coming soon to a Test Server near you. |

Where is Toggle Man now? With Inherent Fitness he surely has room in his build for even more toggles.
@Demobot
Also on Steam
Of course, that was written before inherent Stamina.
Actually, Cardiac Boost makes toggle man possible.

Endurance per second burned: 3.31
Endurance per second recovered: 3.72 (with accolades) 3.41 (without)
When I first started playing I had no idea how to slot my powers. So I see a power can be slotted with EndRedux, Recharge, Damage and Range, I slot the power with one of each. I did that with every power I got. One enhancement of every kind a power can be slotted with.
And the amazing part is it was still almost workable.

A fire/forcefield controller taking mace mastery for scorp shield and focused accuracy (the hot feet gotta hit stuff!) has even more expensive toggles though, from my quick checking: 8.39 end per sec before enhancements vs 7.56.
It also have PFF as an emergency toggle!

We could also increase endurance consumption by taking group fly.
I count 17 toggles you can run simultaneously on the controller vs. 20 on the scrapper. The controller is also forced to take more powers that aren't toggles.
We could also increase endurance consumption by taking group fly. |
Also, the scrapper can only run 19, not 20.
if we did replace leaping with fly, the end consumption of all non-wasted toggles would be 9.67 pre-enhancement.
My first 50 was an AR/Rad corrupter without any of the rad toggles, AM, or Fallout. Sad, nooby times...
We did have this guy who tried to tank an ITF unslotted.
No, not unslotted with regards to IO's: He didn't have any enhancements slotted at all.

During my first 6 months I used to skip Hasten on my trollers. More mortifyingly, I used to defend this strategy on the boards because Hasten was "situational."
It wasn't my build (even at my most noobish I had more sense than this), but there was the DM/SR scrapper I ran the first mission of an STF with.
He had all of his primary powers, even Confront.
From his secondary he had: Focused Fighting, Agile, and Practiced Brawler. That was it. He never toggled Focused Fighting on, and seemed to think that all he had to do was take Practiced Brawler (he never used it that I saw)
He had all 4 travel powers. He started the pools with: Flurry, Air Superiority, Jump Kick, and Teleport Foe. (Apparently all 9 powers from his primary didn't give him enough attacks)
I mentioned above how I ran the first mission of an STF with him. That's because he blamed the rest of the team for his constant deaths and quit the TF during the Magus Mu'Drakhan fight in the second mission.
He claimed that he'd never been defeated before, and I believe it. I checked his badges, and there was not a single damage or debt badge, but there were LOTS of AE badges.
He also told us how he had 9 other level 50 characters, and none of them had ever died before either. Did I mention how we had to give him detailed directions to Independence Port, and explain that the missions were NOT in the AE building?
And yes, this was shortly after issue 14 went live, how'd you guess?
The really sad thing is: The guy had 15 months worth of vet badges too.

A couple months ago I decided to dust off my level 50 DB/WP Brute and respec him, since I never really finished it and also the change to Inherent Fitness. No clue what the hell I was thinking (disclaimer: I only took the Patron pet because I didn't know what else to take at 49 and just wanted to level up to 50).

We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
I teamed with a Tank in the min-teams who had half the medicine pool, with plans to take all of it. Ditto on the leadership pool. I'll leave it to you to imagine what she wasn't taking from her primary or secondary to get there.
While i can forgive that as a newbie ambition, she would not shut up about how she was going to be the most desired character on any team. Even when some of us tried to point out constructively that she might want to focus on surviving before she tried healing everyone, she completely dismissed us, and thus made the graduation from newb to n00b.

I'm not proud
He ended up in dry storage for ages and eventually got vet-respecced in i8 or i9 to something slightly more sensible. Then I decided I still hated him and deleted him for ever more.

Every time I would delve into a new powerset... bad build city.
Just for chucks and wiggles, let me tell you about my fixation with my Mids Notebook.
I have a notebook. It's filled with information on IO sets and hand written builds. Why?
I refused to use Mids. That was cheating.
My first scrapper was a BS/Regen. I skipped Integration, because it didn't sound like it was all that useful for doing damage and stuff. (I was a 1 month newb at the time). Finally a friend set me straight.
A friend showed me his fire/ice blaster's build: six-slotted every primary power, no more than 2 slots to any secondary power, 6-slotted Hasten, and 3 slots each for hurdle and swift.
I'd offer him some advise, but he's overly sensitive about being corrected.
A friend respeced his ice tank, went on the LGTF and found out rather quickly he'd forgotten to take the energy defence toggle.
Played with a level 50 emp who'd skipped recovery aura (but not regen aura), fort, AB and CM.
Also played with a FF/nrg that skipped the ally bubbles, but had all the repels. (and this was PLd n00biness not deliberate solo build).
I have a toon that would look very odd to anybody that didn't experience the game pre ED, I retired my DM/regen when IH became a clickie, so he's still got 6 slot hasten/stamina, 1 end 5 heal slotted toggles, 1 acc 5 dam slotted attacks etc.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
