Quote:See, I've been telling people this. Running trials? Are you a ranged AT? Paralytic. Everyone else will not notice, but gee, if the runs you're on don't go a lot faster and smoother... I wonder why???Diamagnetic if you're mostly going to be soloing. Paralytic if you're mostly going to team. In a teaming scenario, the best one to have is the one nobody is using. Paralytic is still a great debuff, but everyone is flocking to Diamagnetic. And at the high proc rate, you probably won't contribute much with -ToHit on a team. There's also the fact that teams tend to be closer to the soft cap these days.
Also, Diamagnetic does almost nothing to AVs and GMs, but Paralytic is full strength (besides resistances).
I picked it because NO ONE is running it. Put it this way. Whatever damage DOES get through -75%. Hell, you could have ME tank at that rate. -
AND...
Let's say you have a costume saved that you love, but doesn't fit the character you made it for...
Make a character for that costume.
Other tip.
Make as many costumes as you want all at once and save them. Then hit cancel. You pay NOTHING! And wait for the free tailor tokens to drop. -
I am not a Steampunk fan, but dear sweet Jesumina! Awesome. Completely awesome.

In 2002 the Vatican said they would welcome any news of extrterrestrial life on other planets. A year later, an asteroid struck somewhere in some African country. In 2006, the world elects Barack Obama President. Now, in 2010, we hear news of a massive superintelligent computer network called GORF. It can mean only one thing. DOOOOOOM!

I returned recently too. I bought GR. I am very pleased. As far as catching up....
Best way is to hop back in the game, get on those global channels and find the friendlies (btw, people now have yellow names if they are 'helpers'. Feel free to hit them up as well). -
Feel free to find me on my main. I have no bio, but I'm super cool anyways.

Eyeball test.
BU +AIM + ST attack chain = Very High Damage
BU or AIM + ST attack chain = High damage
No BU or AIM + ST attack chain = Decent damage
The trick is to frontload the damage. AIM first, BU second (because it has the higher damage buff and we want it closest to the first attack to last longer). Then run your highest damage attack (not highest DPS, just most damage) and cycle down to the lowest. You want all the burst damage you can get because you're on a timer. Once the buffs drop, return to your DPS chain.
On my Ice/* blasters, vs Marauder, Seige and Nightstar, I find I can bit off BIG chunks of health in that ten seconds. It's most noticable during catch up mode on S and N during the BAF Trial. If I switch to BU + AIM, that bar shrinks. If I lay off BU and AIM, it moves slowly. -
This thread takes it to a whole new level of surreal. I am cosistently amazed at the level of vitriol people can work up over a QoL issue like team locking.
I believe the option to lock trial teams would be nice.
I believe that not having that option does very little harm.
Having run and run on many small leagues, I have yet to see any sort of destructive team usurping going on, EXCEPT for direct invites who sabotage end stages to create more adds to get thread/iXP.
Even in the groups where we all know each other, it's usually the usual suspects, not the randoms, that cause problems.
And considering the lag issue has been addressed, and it is now tolerable, bigger teams aren't the issue. -
Indeed. Shiny becomes dull when ultra shiny shows up.

Let's see...
People would whine about having to rekit their entire set up, respec to pull out the IOs they want, new powers would be blah blah complain blah blah... whine whine whine.
You think we've got a sadfest now with this system, which is fairly harmless and optional. Imagine 10 new levels? NOT optional. People HAVE to hit cap. It's human nature. At least the incarnate system is reasonably self contained, and the bleed over of incarnate powers into high end stuff is limited to level 50 content. It is. Don't say no. It is. -
Quote:Yeah, I play 3 characters. 1 dominates my time. It's not so much about perfecting a build as it is experimenting with new choices etc. I can't resist the temptation to try out different strategies.Well, I have run out of vet respecs on Mouse Police and most recently also on Sparks Fly (who is on the 2nd account so fewer vetspecs to start with). But I've never resorted to buying a respec recipe, so I guess I'm far more patient and/or satisfied with my builds. Mind you, with Mouse Police I abandoned her 1st build completely and switched to the 2nd build to remake her... I have no idea what IOs I have sitting over on her 1st build anymore.
I got really lucky with Sparks Fly too, since the WST was the respec trial this week and I hadn't claimed those respecs yet. Right now her build is almost perfect -- except -- I picked Tactics at level 38 and Grant Cover at 50, when I'd really much rather have Grant Cover available when I exempt down. (Neither are vital to my build, of course, but it bugs me still.)
I think it would be hard to be both an altoholic and a respec junkie... being a respec junkie probably means you play just one or just a few characters most of the time.
I used to be an altaholic. Then, I got clean. Unfortunately, it lead to my respec addiction. -
My advice? Dive in head first. The concussion from hitting your head on the concrete pool bottom of failure will make you foget... sleep sleeeeeep............
I Hosp it 8 or nine times during this phase on my blaster just to show I'm trying. -
Psssh... Altaholic? Try being a respec junkie. Far more expensive, time consuming and mind numbingly weird.

Quote:Nope. You get a chance to reslot them, with a tray for 10 extras to keep. Any not slotted back up after the respec get sold at shop value, so make sure to slot them all if you can. Thanks everybody for their replies.
Dropping ice patch before the pull has helped. The mobs fall down, clump up for frozen breath.
I have freeze ray, but it was constantly missing. So much I didn't bother. I'm 21st level now and so dropped two slots with two 20th IOs into them. Freeze ray misses a lot less now and its very helpful.
I do not have Ice Storm. The guides gave me the impression to skip Ice Storm. Going back over them I notice that some guides note Ice storm is useful to solo leveling. So at 22 I'll probably take it. Not sure what else to take. Combat Jumping and Chilling Embrace would help some at melee range, but wouldn't help with ranged attacks (Gears don't hit hard but 8 or 9 of them do).
20th Level IOs cost a lot more than 15 and I just couldn't afford it. The DOs from Mission Architect tickets are way better than TOs and MA tickets are pretty easy to get. Sort of hoping to save up Inf and skip the 20th level all together, go directly to 25, but it doesn't look feasible.
I have a free respec. Do I lose all my enhancements if I respec? -
In this game, there is no death. Therefore, the minor debt is fine as a 'penalty'.
What's PvP? -
You can breeze through the 20-35 duldrums by running tips at whatever difficulty you like.
Ice Storm is a lifesaver. Mobs ignore you and run out of it. Ice Patch is invaluable.
Another thing I've always done is to keep build one as a leveling build, and build two as my IO build. I'd only slot what recipies that drop for you, and save for SOs.
Slot for... accuracy, recharge... then damage. You are single target. You need those attacks up asap and you want to hit often. If you're heading into the orange and reds, you'll need 2 accuracy. -
SEVEN YEARS! I DID IT!
I mean.... WE did it. We.
(i did it! heheheheh) -
Maybe I'm losing my mind, but wasn't it like this before, and we had to work out backroom deals between heroes and villains? Like I give your hero x 500 mil influence, you give my villain y 500 mil infamy?
-
I'll throw my hat in the ring. Both BAF and Lambda lagged out hardcore yesterday for me.

Some players are of the opinion that ignoring the story and doing what you enjoy is shallow and akin to using cliff's notes instead of reading the actual book. It is implied that players who do this are impatient, lazy, unintellectual or even 'doing it wrong'.
Look into your hearts people. You've thought it! Admit!
Well I've got news for you. Player like me who skip the text are -
I actually had a PvP recipe taken away from me, before I ever even got one. I'm at -1 PvP recipe now, so why bother?
