Reichsman still equal parts tedious and annoying.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

The part that annoys me the most is actually fetching the 4 AVs. Maybe it's because it's in a cave map and zipping around in those gives me headaches.

Temps are not required to beat the sack of HP, DPS will suffice.

I know exactly what you mean. I like Barracuda, especially the ambushes, but the tunnels sometimes give me motion sickness. It was especially bad a couple of days ago, with two MMs on the team, because of being shoved by the pets so I was constantly facing not quite the way I expected.

Citadel it worse for it, though.

Recluse ends in a tank and spank (with adds) and it often takes longer than Reischman because he's locked at 54 which lowers damage to about half.
I did not say they didn't involve tank and spank. I said they didn't involve an artificially inflated sack of HP. This is my problem with these Task Forces: the giant sack of HP, which in the case of Barracuda may not be defeatable by an otherwise well-balanced team because of arbitrary AT requirements.

Recluse being level 54 affects more than the time it takes to defeat him. It also makes him significantly more dangerous. Reichsman frankly isn't. The massive 5th Column ambushes would still be dangerous if Reichsman had normal HP. The added AVs would be MORE dangerous if he had normal HP, as it would then be possible, even likely, to get more than one at a time.

Can't believe this thread is still going...
i mean, i didn't even post a proper rant, it was really more of a statement of moderate annoyance.

i've run Kahn and Barracuda since then, and both were pretty easy because the teams were people i knew who ran it during something close to peak time, not a PuG assembled in the early afternoon.

Reichsman is always easy on Kahn, but the phase and regenerate schtick gets really old in the BSF if you don't have someone with the "stop that" temp power who is on the ball and are light on debuffs. (Although in the PuG run we did have plenty of control, as useful as that is against Reichy-baby.)

So, yeah, enjoying it just fine on my various alts, but i still consider Reichsman as a ginormous sack of hp to be bad design, especially with the AT-specific twists in his BSF version.

Carry on.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

i like the "gadget fight" elements, but it doesn't make up for the general annoyance of "keep hitting him until either he falls or team DPS drops too low from the players dozing off at their desks waiting for him to fall."

...

Still, got the Notice of the Well, so i guess it was for something worthwhile.
Although after some thought I have decided to keep my account current, Reischmann was a big factor in a recent cancelling of my account. I'm back now. But Reischmann is one of the worst TFs in the entire game. I am maintaining my account SOLELY because I love my CoX characters and don't want to abandon them.... but....

I had been mulling over a decision to try the most recent superhero-genre game out the gate. The night before I cancelled my NCSoft account, I was on a team that beat on Reischmann for 30+ minutes.

Thirty minutes, people. Thirty minutes of the exact same thing. Well, other than my Blaster being repeatedly stunned and killed - I do carry a lot of BFs, but my inspiration-capacity does have a limit.

Right before we finally beat Reischmann, I thought, "You know, I have been here since 2006 AND **** THIS!!" I was bored. I finally *realized* that I was bored. And I decided to give That New Game a try. It was like I hit critical mass with CoX.

Also adding to my frustration: I am primarily a solo player. I am having TREMENDOUS trouble alpha-slotting my level 50s since I mostly solo. If I team for the TF Of The Week, well looky-here! Its always a speed-run because someone has an hour to play, so we cant do a shard-run... and I end up with two shards. Whoopee-****ing do, people. This is locking me out of end-game content. Out of 15 level 50s, THREE, a total of THREE have the alpha slot filled. Only one of those is at third tier.

Now some may shout, "BAD MIGHT LEAVE THE GAME, WOOOOOO-HOOOOO!" true enough, but try to look past that, and realize that this mindset is not that hot of a thing for CoX. Boredom and making it impossible for people to attain end-game stuff is not a recipe for keeping people in this game. Other New Shinies are out there..... and although of course they don't have all of the bells and whistles that CoX has after [?] years, they're...still pretty new and shiny. AND THEY DON"T HAVE YOU BEATING ON THE SAME FREAKING GUY FOR A HALF-HOUR!

The developers might want to rethink this stance manifested by an AV such as Reischmann. I mean, my account is still current; but I spend the majority of my gaming-time over in The New Shiny these days. Reischmann is Epic Fail and my not being able to get my 50s to the true end-game content is Epic Fail. If you disagree, that is [general] your right, but meanwhile my CoX account is mostly stagnant.

I wonder how many are in that same boat with "FRUSTRATION" writ large across the stern? Not everyone, but I'd bet money I'm not the only one somewhat disillusioned at this point.

I dislike the Statesman and Recluse TFs, as well as the Tin Mage and Apex TFs, because they are difficult. When I state my reason for not doing them, however, I'm usually told that they're not difficult at all and I'm just not trying hard enough. I tend to then tell people to go to hell.

*edit*
And, thanks, but I'm not sure I want American police where I live.
Well maybe you do need to "lrn2ply" as the first time I went through it was a success. And it was a PuG too to boot!

This is what I do when I run Khan with friends. We taunt all the other AVs next to Reichsman as they enter the battle, but otherwise ignore them. Spillover AOE damage usually kills a couple of them before Reichsman dies, then we mop up whoever's left.

I've yet to fail a Khan TF, or indeed be on one that took too long. That does nothing to make the game's single dumbest TF any less boring, tedious and annoying. But thank you for the patronising insult just the same. I'm sure that helped.

And when I extort how bad this TF is, I'm including the original Positron TF, Dr. Quaterfield and even that godawful Bastion TF. Sure, they're not very well designed, but at least they're not deliberately annoying and things actually happen in them. They don't devolve into a long boring fight of watching a bar steadily decrease.

The Riechsman TF is only slightly less boring than watching my game load.

In a Reichsman thread? Why?

Eh, just finished a Cuda that took us a long time. We had to wait out the ambushes until they were totally gone, then focus on Reich. Our support consisted of a Pain Corr, FF MM, Widow, and a Dark MM. But the dark MM dropped so we only had minimal -RES sources. We finally started to get tired of it so we whipped out shivans to finish.

I still think Cuda is more annoying than the Khan. But still haven't failed one. Being down a person with basically no debuffs left on the team was pretty lame though.

Because the Alan Moore guy brought it up.

Any team that can do Cuda can do Kahn, the reverse is not true, Cuda is much more difficult, we failed one because a team that could easily cope with Kahn, had no MM/def, and insufficient debuffing to take more hits off Reichs than he could get back in his invulnerable period, but enough to take him out otherwise and shut his regen down if not invulnerable.

Cuda should award more merits, period.

That is a rather exceptional team. Rad is a good debuffer, everyone was +1 and had rares...

We tried that on our team last night. It was okay till the second psi AV came out and decimated the stone tank and everyone else.

Are we talking about LRSF?

I assume this was not back in the day. Because you acheieved a miracle if you did this back in I7.

I've done about 20 of these this week, and the tank/brute/kheld has pulled the AVs in to join reichs every time. It's varied as to whether we've killed reichs or the other AVs first, depending on team composition, but the tank has always dealt with both. It doesn't take an exceptional team.

If you go into this with no buffs and debuffs and an inadequate tank, you will suffer unless you're very good, but most reasonably balanced teams can cope.

We did!

We did 5 Kahns back to back, that was the fastest (slowest was about 52 minutes as I recall, we were getting sloppy). All sorts of different mixes. Most lopsided in one way or another.
