Either buff Swift or nerf Hurdle

Err maybe just pick up flight? Do people actually not choose flight? Outside of that... Most people just pop down an Ouro portal if they need to get somewhere really far. Of course there are exceptions I guess. Just find it hard to believe we have so many joggers.

No way...that would be way OP'd and be nerfed indefinitely.

Not to mention there's no cost in having the choice right now. Everyone has access to the powers. Nerfing Hurdle to Swift level would just mean people would be slower. Buffing Swift to Hurdle level would mean people would go at the same speed as before.
If making a common-sense QoL suggestion and refusing to accept workarounds as a permanent solution and the status quo as "the right way" makes me "special," then yeah, that's me.

Honestly, even before inherent Fitness, when my builds were so tight I couldn't, and most times wouldn't, take a travel power (which I still don't untill I absolutely run out of useful powers to take) I bunny hopped everywhere. And I still do.

Maybe it's something leftover my FPS gaming days, but it's a lot more fun in this game. Toggle on Sprint and jump away! I usually do it while singing "The Gummi Bears" theme song.

And that typically works pretty well. Especially with all the rentable jets for dealing with places like Grandville and the Shard.

However, the oddity at hand is that in theory Swift and Hurdle should be comparable. I think what may be forgotten in the discussion though is that Swift increases Flight speed as well. Whereas Hurdle is pretty well focused on the jump travel speed only.

You can make a good argument that the two benefits don't really ever apply to the same character. In that, if you're using hover, you're getting no benefit from run speed. And if you don't have fly, the only benefit you get from fly speed is from temps [I'm not even sure on that].

This was far more relevant of issue when you had to choose one or the other, and they should be roughly balanced. Currently, not so much.

There is the logic issue of generally being able to jump faster than you can dash/sprint. Which is significant, but personally I find the difficulty of justifying Superspeed as a travel means to be more core to the issue.

Gonna have to disagree with the OP on this. The powers are working fine just the way they are.

Seriously, how does it make sense that the horizontal movement buff of the ostensibly vertical movement passive is four times as strong as the buff from the actual horizontal movement passive?
How is that balanced? With swift, you retain full control of your speed but it's slower. With hurdle, you gain more speed but you cannot control it besides cutting the jump short.

So cut on swift and sprint and see how much control over your movement and friction you have. Then start jumping around without combat jumping on. See how you can't change direction mid-air or how it's hard to slow your ascent?

Ok, then, serious time:

The fact that Sprint makes RunSpeed nearly equivalent to JumpSpeed with Hurdle and/or Ninja Run would be a big hint that this is balanced around Sprint.

Sprint costs End, but you don't have to keep activating it like you do with jump, which can be a pita during battle.

Balanced.

Do you have high adventure that's beyond compare?

Inconvenience isn't balance.

It's inconvenient to have to jump everywhere to get there faster. Yes I know you can use Sprint, but why should I have to spend endurance to run as fast as I jump? Since when is running more tiring that jumping?

Be glad you don't spend end to jump at all..

So... you're trying to rationalize a game by using real life as an example, or at least something similar.

How much more efficient IS jumping than running? What's the difference in MpH?

This really ought to be a non-issue, since the majority of this thread doesn't care. If it's really a problem for you Vanden, file a bug report.

I certainly hope they fix other things first, like Mastermind Pet AI. Or does that not "inconvenience" you?

Ahahahaha, first you demand to be able to run faster, then you outright refuse to use a power that makes you run faster.

It's not the game's fault that you refuse to use the tools it offers you.

Just because I'm the one who brought it up doesn't make it about me.

It is about you who wants to see the power changed in a way which most people do not feel the need to change. That is the theme of this thread.

Wait, someone actually has a problem with how Swift and Hurdle work? And thinks the powers need to be changed? And thinks it's a big enough issue to post on the forums about it?

Hey devs, when I use Super Running it looks silly, because my legs move really really fast and when I'm flying my legs don't move really fast so nerf Super Running or boost flight.
