Very Best Farmer?

The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
Just a thought, given the rate of insp drops during a solo farm (very fast), would SS be at a disadvantage because it'd hit the damage cap far earlier than claws or anything else? (perma-rage means nothing when everyone else is at damage cap because of insps)

I've made plenty of videos, a few of which to prove points, but not often, because if I did that I wouldn't have any time left to play. Usually, big mouths like you run away after they're proved wrong. I don't want you to stop posting, you're entertaining me ; ergo, I'm not going to post a vid in here just now.

Not saying that CV is always right, but if it exists and you feel it is wrong, why not break the back of it with, in this case, visual proof and some horrible garage-metal music playing in the background (since that seems to be the choice of many video makers)?
lmao And here I thought nerd rage had subsided... XD Well he may have been lookin for the agreed apawn best farmer in terms of numbers, but I still find my El x3 brute to be a lot more fun and survivable than fire in cases other than fire farms. You may have more damage as a ss/fire but my opinion is bias for El x3. It may not be the best, but again variety is the spice of life, why limit yourself to being good on one type of +4 farm?
Oh I would put a video on, but my laptop has a horrible time recording and playing the game, but I do have the build I'm using now. Been trying to find a way to bring in the tier 9 for two minutes of own-age, but just can't do it. I've tested the build out for +3 of all types of damage, bush and non-bush, helpers and none, and still found that in each one, he preforms the way I think he should. But excels against enemies that do energy damage just like the armor provides... He looks at end drain powers and laughs like a school girl... XD So my vote goes to you should try El x3 or (Electric/Electric/Mu) and just see what you think.
Here's the build of anyone cares to peek.

I do play plenty of suboptimal alts myself and enjoy them just as much if not more than the FOTMs, but when someone asks for best there's no point in answering with what you personally like most.
Wow!!!! This posting is very entertaining but also very knowledgeable as well. See!!! I am a farmer that has been farming with good-ole-fashion-FOTM Fire/Kin with additonal three fire/trollers, (fire/rad and two fire/sonics) on seperate accounts. They assists the main Fire/Kin on follow and auto attack to my target/s for additional quick damage burst, extra recipe bags as they drop and mainly for the 2x Disruption Field stacked (thats -44 resistance to mob from my damage) onto the FIre/Kin from /sonic for Demon farm.
The bad side? Well one has mentioned that trollers simply cannot handle an ambush (especially in AE). Very true. Also, I would like to roll new type of toon to roll farms with and it is proven by everyone's votes and numbers that SS/FA Brute is far better. I do NOT like to rely on a single power to recharge vs having multiple AoE attacks and hard hitting ST damage so the ELM is out the window. [pl'ed #1]"why is he stopping? [pl'ed #2 replies] I think his LR is almost up!! [pl'ed #1] "hmmmmm that sucks" [pl'ed #2] "That ss/fa brute that pl'ed me last night was streaming thru this same mish non-stop, it was SICK" [pl'ed #1] Do yo have his global? LOL I don't PL folks for influ nor do I ever hardly ever invite anyone to my farms. Thats just me. If any in any case I may scoop a lvl 1 -5 up if he/she has like 18 month or so in Vet reawards for free runs. So I'm just saying.
I am very, very eager to have one and so anxious to try out as I know it will fair well especially for the ambushes which my fire/kin falls almsot instanly to.
Farming takes time to understand. It all depends on one playstyle and how to perform within. Fire/kins has quick burst damage - lots of it and too very nice control to meltdown mobs in between holds & immobilization. That is the surviving technique for the troller which leaves little time to activate a located area for mitigations or such because I know when performing with a fire/kin, it's a busy non-stop job but so dammmm fun.
Brutes on the otherhand has a better survivability quite naturally and could do as much damage if not better (IMO more damage than any troller can). On the plus side, I can get Deeeeeeeeeeemooooons with it too once over Blue-Side. SO AE and Rewards? Gravy!
So yes!!!! thank you all very much. I will do exactly this and post up my results later in some kinda not-so-distant future - LOL

In short, if the ELM is not spamming AoEs, the player's either doing something wrong, or built wrong. (in fact, the core weakness of ELM is the shortage of ST attacks).
On a separate note, what's the core strategy for you all farming? Currently farming tix on my lv 35 claws/fire brute (gotta get 3 sets of lv 35 reactive armors, along with kinetic combats and whatnot), and between followup, spin, burn, and recklessly converting insps for damage ones I can barely get a breather in. (doing -1x8 ambush with bosses since that gets me about 1400-1500 (capped from 1600) tix per run)
I still think claws/fire would do better on a -1x8 with boss ambush map because of the sheer number of insp drops. Anyone wants to make a lv 35 SS/fire so we can compare notes?
(current average running time is 5 minutes, meaning about 30 minutes for 9k tickets, which is probably good for a lv 35 non-IOed build..)
At level 35, in my opinion Claws/Fire is far above SS/Fire. Lacking epics, purples and alpha slot hurt SS a lot more than it does Claws, it's basically just Foot Stomp, Burn and all ST attacks, whereas Claws can AOE all day already.
After reading this, I feel quite sad that I wasted my 8 hours in Praetoria to get a SS/SD Broot to Hero Side... I've had an Elec/Fire/Fire Brute on hero side for quite some time, but it's got SO's and that's it, and I'm not sure how most people do their ambush farms, but when I do mine, I literally have to pop 4 purples everytime I'm NOT softcapped, even though I'm only taking fire damage. It also takes me about 10 minutes to clear out all of my ambushes, and even then, that nets me about 1200 tickets a run. I don't even KNOW how people are netting 1-2 million inf a MINUTE. But then again, I haven't ever tried a SS/FA... So a couple questions...
My SS/SD is at 38, and I do enjoy him, but he's an absolute end hog and I don't want to waste any money on trying to fix his endurance problem when I'd rather spend it on recharge/defense. I know he could farm Council Empire quite nicely, but aside from that, is he really that great? Would I be better off deleting him, starting a new SS/FA and PLing him up (Oh the Statesman farm... How I love thee...) and throwing money at him?
Also, what are some of the suggestions for farming your way to the money necessary to drop 10 billion on these insanely expensive builds (My IO builds generally consist of zero purples because I barely have enough for 2-3 individual purple IOs, much less 5 entire sets)
To continue... Am I wasting my time on Virtue (a completely non-farming server)? Should I be on Champion or Freedom where there's more farming SGs, and more opportunities for PLing and learning how do it The Right Way (tm)?
And in conclusion... Is SS/FA alright with Fire Blast/Fire Ball? Because it's a PITA to take em all the way villain side, do the patron arc, and bring em all the way back JUST to get mu mastery...
EDIT: More Questions...
Is it possible to make a good SS/FA Brute WITHOUT any purples?
Since inspirations drop so insanely fast solo, is it pointless to build for defense when you can just pop a couple purples and be good?
Is there anyone that would be willing to show me in-game how the ambush farms and demon farm are supposed to be done The Right Way (tm)?
Thanks for any answers and sorry for threadjacking... :P

1) Without purple IOs, probably yes. Of course it wouldn't be as optimal, but yes.
2) The less purples you need, the more purples you can spare to convert to reds and not be taking up space in case of a dry spell. Though weave/combat jumping, along with steadfast def IO does help significantly (about a purple's worth)
3) I don't think it's any trickier than activating all ambushes then killing everything, though some maps do have differences. I personally use #459239 since that seems optimal for me: Has a helper which tosses a shield on you (usually) (since I've locked my xp my level doesn't change, making it consistent). I do -1x8 with bosses (giving me around 1400-1500 (capped) tix). I generally try to keep around 30-40 def as a safety margin.
And lastly: I assume you don't plan to ONLY farm. The SS/SD brute would probably be good for TFs and end game stuff. (even if the shield charge does have some issues)

Yes, there is no point to build for def in farming. Other that the few places where def is one of the only things you can get that’s useful, 3 slot aegis in your armor. In an ambush farm you want rech and more rech. Imo, this because of 3 things:
1. It helps you get your AoEs, rage, and FE up faster :P
2. It is one of the only stats that cannot be increased with insp, which drop A LOT.
3. You should be running with upwards of 500% dmg buff for your powers thanks to rage and reds (if you aren’t using these you failed). Running at this amount of +dmg even 10% more +rech after you already have over 100% from sets (and thus pretty big rech decay) can increase your overall DPS by over 10.

As you mentioned, endurance is a big issue with SS/SD, even more so as you pile on the +recharge. You can mitigate it a bit by getting the +End accolades, and by using the Performance Shifter and Numina +End procs. Ultimately though the thing that finally fixed it for me was getting the Cardiac Alpha boost. That was a godsend.
I recommend finding an old SS/SD build guide by ThugsRus. He has several builds in there for different budgets and a revised build late in the thread. It's thought provoking.
Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.
yeah SS/SD is fantastic for me.
I went with the energy mastery though for the extra endurance help.
I have enough recharge on him to be able to effectively use SC and FS in succession.
untill you get it IO'd out, end is a huge issue x_x
but Cardiac also helps quite a bit.

Farmed my blueside lv 32 SS/Fire Brute to lv 47 yesterday, and climbed up to 50 today. He's survivable with just SOs and one mag4 KB protection IO, but I have to play the inspiration mixing game at times to build up defense or restore endurance after a big rage crash.
I just can't get over how FUN this brute is. I ran through the Incarnate arc with a friend who had been having trouble with Trapdoor on his Invul/SS Tank, partially because he didn't know to kill the doppleganger things. He didn't tell me that he'd just run through the mission with his Invulnerability before hitting Trappy, but it barely took my SS/Fire any time to punch or melt his way to where my friend was waiting (sheepishly, after forgetting to warn me). It's still weak in terms of resistance, but its damage lets a careful player handle a lot of rough spots.
Too many alts to list.

What mechanism are people using in these AE arcs to get the waves of bad guys? Destructible objects that trigger ambushes?
Hazel Black - Mind/Psi D
Stephanie Winters - Nightwidow
Jacqui Frost - Cold/Ice D
Jacqui Embers - Fire/Kin C
Simone Templar - Fire/MM B
Mallory Woods - Kin/Rad D
Sanguine Melody - Grav/Sonic C
Fumina Hara - Plant/Storm C
Nutmeg - Warshade
Lauren Wu - SS/WP B
That arc was definitely fun to try with my Controller! I finally managed (in bursts) to get my earning rate to a smidgen over 1M inf/min at +2/x8 with bosses. I'm not sure I can push it much higher, but trying will be fun.

The very best farmer would be a ele/shield scrap, not even a brute. LR and SC are pets which get capped on damage at 400%, which is easy with fury and slotting for a brute, but much better for a scrapper with higher base damage.
My ele/shield brute has 185% recharge and 45/45/45 defense, (though i had to use the glad proc to hit soft cap, i just happened to have one).
LR and SC every 22ish seconds, thunderstrike and chain induction every 3, fireball every 8 seconds. End is fine as long as i kill fast enough to earn blues.
The great thing is that i can farm any farm mission, including purely fire missions.
I prefer the big ambush missions on +2 x8, even if it's annoying getting pushed around by all the mobs, but if i do mob to mob on that difficulty, i spend about 15 seconds on each mob.
Build up, lightning rod, fireball, (minions rez) Thunder strike (Lts rez), shield charge, fireball. Everythings dead except for the bosses, which i drag to the next mob then rinse repeat until the bosses following me die.
It's too bad i'm not a scrap...might PL one for the extra damage.
But nothing does better than a ele/shield/blaze recharge built scrap.
If you're not planning on investing billions like i did, ss/fire would be better.

PvP Redux is discontinued, for obvious reasons. Thanks to everyone who helped and joined.
I really like my EM/SD scrapper and, in many ways, he's my "signature character," but he can't match a SS/FA/Pyre brute on a fire/ambush map.
Now, I can take my scrapper on every map and clean clocks, while the brute gets beaten like a rented mule. The versitility of the EM/SD scrapper is second to none (IMO) for TF AoE and he can come close to what the brute can do, but he's not overtaking in Inf/minute.
Anyway in terms of normal rewards I'd think:
1) Demon farm for fire defenses.
2) Council Empire (Not normal council) farm for S/L defenses.
3) ITF for those who want to do a TF at the same time.
