Day Jobs Over.
As of today new years eve. I am finnaly done the day jobs on blue and now red side. It stunk and was not fun. But i can now play my badger more So thats good.
I dont really like the day job badges. Bad idea to make badges for not playing your favorite characters however because of it i probably have 15 more 50s then i would have so i guess i see what they were doin. I wont miss "needing" to log out in a certain spot. And i wont be pissed when i log back in to realize i just was in the wrong spot and i missed 5 days. That was frustating. please NO MORE day jobs in future issues!!!!! |

I also am into my last day job drudge and will be glad to get them finished.
As to why did I keep chasing them, well, "because they were there", but as badges collected I feel no particular achievement or satisfaction in having them. I don't feel as if I have won them or earned them in any gameplay sense.
I fully understand that one's feelings about such things are very personal and as such, mine are just that, mine.
One of the things I enjoy about the game is that we can all experience it in so many different ways and still get teamed up and have fun without those differences affecting our enjoyment Clever Dev's?
So I shall not mourn the passing of my Day Jobs collection duties, but wish all those still on the hunt the best of times in their ongoing badging
Cheers

I'm about a month or two from finishing all day jobs on the only character I've fully side-switched so far, and I played him every time I felt like it, and frequently forgot to switch him to new locations for four or five weeks instead of three.
So yeah. You didn't need to avoid playing your characters. To make it take a full month longer to finish the day jobs, you would have to spend a full month playing that character. Over 700 hours. In the grand scheme of all the day job badges, any amount of time saved by not playing your characters is trivial to the point of not being worth considering.
I know other people have different feelings towards the whole day jobs system, and those feelings can't be 'wrong', but I just don't understand, and feel that people who complain about them are thinking about it the wrong way. I just made a habit of logging off in a few spots, and even when I occasionally messed up, I just made sure to do it right the month after that. Now I have about 100 characters with every day job badge for their level and side, that I don't worry about until they level up to a new one.

Closing in on my last Day Job as well. Just under the 2 week mark. I'd be closer, or even finished, if I handn't herp'd my derp, and in the middle of working on Arachnos Agent forgotten that's the one I was working on, and spent 2+ weeks working on Pilot, which I already had the bar filled for. >.<
Once the last one fills up, I'll switch to Villain and get the last 4 and their accolades, and while I'm at it, I'll unlock Patrons, too.

I'll have the last day job badge on Sunday. It wouldn't kill me to get more Day Jobs in the future, but I certainly wouldn't be keen on it.

MB has one more to go.
Tabby and Robin on the other hand.. still have about 2 more to go each. I don't worry about getting them ASAP. I still play my main characters whenever the chance presents itself. I don't believe in keeping them offline just to earn credit for the badge. I'll always have to log out eventually, so they will be earned at some point regardless.

im a little less than 1.5 more weeks to go on my final day job, i lost time on day jobs getting all the other new badges
i basically only started on day jobs as a last resort type of badge since there was nothing else i could get in a short amount of time
I for one welcome more day jobs. While at my real job IRL I get to badge?! This makes me warm and fuzzy inside
I went from hardcore to casual gamer in the past couple of years and have still been able to keep up with badges and being able to badge while out having a good time is pretty awesome.
I'm on my last day job myself
20-21 days to go!

I completely agree with this post. I'm about 2 weeks out of my last day job set with my primary badger. Day Jobs made me STOP badging on all my other toons from sheer frustration.
|
Let's just say I've never let Day Jobs keep me from playing my badging toons or doing anything extraordinarily frustrating. I'm going to "pay" for that by simply being a few weeks behind other supposedly "top" badgers in getting a couple of badges. As Patteroast implied after playing this game for almost 7 years I can deal with being a few weeks behind a few other people as far as getting them done.
Day Job badges aren't (and never were) that big a deal...

Frankly the fact that it's going to take me a few more weeks to be finished doesn't really bother me because I've continued to have fun playing my characters regularly for all these months leading up to this point. Six months from now it won't really matter that you had the all the Day Jobs badges a few weeks longer than I have. Beyond yourself who'll know the difference?

I'm 18 hours away from my 2nd last day job badge on my badge collector. Still almost 21 days from the last after that.
I'm still playing this character.

i have to agree with Lothic, the day jobs never really caused me any sort of frustration other than "good lord how much longer will this take" (for me cause im still pretty hardcore and the day jobs feel like they progress extremely slow)
anyway, yeah the day jobs were never really all that frustrating, they were more annoying, but compared to other stuff (MoBSF, midnight dodger in tin mage tf) they are a walk in the park
I've been done with 3 toons with all dayjobs. I keep track of all my toons from the server I belong to with an excel file I use.
As far as frustration from not using my main, although it takes an extra slot in the server, I've made an exact duplicate of my main badger. I've made this back in i6 because of failed respecs after respecs. This replica became my live server prototype for new content. While my main was dayjob farming, I've used the replica to play around, so when I had to jump back to do badge missions and master of content, I had no problem getting reacquainted

I don't understand all the Day Job Badge hate when compared to the more onerous badges:
Epic farm badges like the damage one (that wasn't reduced like some of the others). Not only can you not play your badger while it's farming for these badges, but you can't play any of your alts either!
Invention Badges: Yay! I produced hundreds of IOs that are worth 100 times less than the cost to produce them! Boy, did this badge really help the markets! And it only took a few weeks... during which... I couldn't play my character or any alts.
Flashback badges: Yay! I can do the same low level mission 5 times with different permutations of restrictions. And it only took a few weeks... during which... I couldn't play my character on non-repetitive interesting arcs... or any other alt.
Arena Badges: Yay! Setting up fake fights and taking turns throwing them. At least this didn't take days to accomplish unlike...
The PvP 400 Rep Badge: Yay! Hours and hours of setting up fake fights. All of which meant I wasn't playing my character or any alts.
So really, as much as I may agree not to like the Day Job Badges, I'm not getting on any bandwagon that doesn't prioritize the more drudging badges as the proper target of scorn.

It takes 504 hours (21 days worth) of logged off time to earn a Day Job badge. Even if you played a character 3 hours a day (thus only earning 21 hours a day towards Day Job badges) it would only take 24 days (21 hours x 24 days) days to earn a Day Job badge. Merely three extra days per badge. Even if you did the same for all 28 Day Job badges possible you'd only be talking about an extra 84 days. Less than 3 total months. Since Day Jobs have now been in the game for 24 months (as per December 2, 2008 with Issue 13) I really can't be convinced that the difference between 588 total days (28 badges x 21 days) and 672 total days (28 badges x 24 days) is worth crying about. Would 84 extra days of having to park in the right spot before logging off really be THAT horrible when you had to do it for the bare minimum of 588 days to begin with? I don't think so, but of course YMMV. *shrugs*

The key word in the first paragraph is I can play my main "more" I played him when new stuff came out and i did a lot of tfs with him but i just didnt use him for any old itf or katie.
in the second paragraph i said i dont like day jobs and i dont.
and the 3rd paragraph i said i found it annoying to go to the day job and place yourself just so to get the right one cause some of them are overlapping slightly. It was aminor frustration when it was placed wrong.

The net effect of that means that while you're now done with them I still have about roughly 3 weeks to go before I'm done. I guess it'll be crummy for me for those 3 weeks. On the other hand a month from now we'll BOTH be done with them and while you strictly avoided playing your badgers to get done ASAP I enjoyed playing my characters for as long as I wanted any day I wanted.
Frankly I valued my ability to play any character I wanted for as long as I wanted for all those past months far more than a short 3 week period that won't make any difference in the long run. Enjoy your hard work on that.
