While you may no longer be able to respond in a name of red, you may still read these words and know we are still wishing you well.

I don't belive in saying the words "Good" and "Bye" in close proximity. There are no Goodbyes. The very essence of the phrase has always had that twinge of finality to it. We live in cycles and those circular paths cross and criss-cross many times over in a lifetime.

So I take two words that fill the void when I cannot express myself fully and add to it a word that will always return in the next cycle...

Best wishes, Castle!

I could recount the numerous times you listened and responded to our feedback or cite the different ways you specifically improved things. But after all that I think what stuck in my mind the most is summed up pretty simply.

Thank you for caring about the game as much as we did.

Sad to see you go... you were always on the boards to explain power decisions whether or not people liked it, and you never took it personally, putting everything out there. That is a rare breed indeed in this day and age of MMO developers and you will be sorely missed in your capacity here. I wish you the best in your future endeavors and feel free to keep in touch to let us know how you're doing.

Farewell, Castle! May ye not lack of booty or grog!

As another old-timer, I know that a good number of welcome changes were made under your watch, and I thank you for your dedication and communication! It's always heartening to me when another has pride in their work, and I think it's obvious that was the case. Thank you for contributing to the first and greatest supers MMO!

Long time listener, first time caller here. I have to say that the reason I'm still playing this game after six and a half years with occasional breaks is largely due to the sharp improvement in balance upon Castle's ascent to main guy who fiddles with powers-hood, and it only got better from there. Most of my current favorite sets were thoroughly Castled at one point or another. Great job at prolonging the addiction of myself and so many others!

Bloody Hell!!! I knew the day would come... we had timely warning. Stil it hurts to see you leave.

Take care in whatever you end up doing. And know you have done a great job the past years. Even though some PVP-ers seem to dissagree on some points. I am sure one day new changes will be made and another one can take the punches.

Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

It's sad to see Castle go, but at least we were lucky enough to have him for as long as we did. I've never seen another dev so dedicated to his game and players, and with such sensitivity and understanding of both what we think we need, and what we actually need.

Castle, thanks for everything you've done for our beloved game. Thanks for all the new and revamped power sets, for being so communicative and responsive, and (possibly most of all) for keeping your cool and professionalism in the face of so much grief from us over the years. May you have luck wherever you go.

Now I know why he never fixed Blazing Aura on blasters! It doesn't work well with Force Bubble.

Thank you for everything you've done in this game, Castle.

Do us one more last minute favor and convince Black Scorpion to change the KB in Handclap into KD. If you did, then I would have a hard choice to make of what to drop from my build for it.

I’ve been working on City of Heroes in essentially the same role for six years now. It has been a fantastic learning experience and I have become a far better designer as a result of my time here.

I’d especially like to thank all of you City of Heroes fans. I appreciate the passion that you feel for your hobby, even when that passion was, shall we say, directed towards me in a rather negative fashion? I have always tried to keep an open mind and treat your feedback fairly. I’ve loved seeing what you have done with the tools we have provided you with. Some of the MA arcs I’ve seen are brilliant and some of the base layouts are simply amazing. I’ve seen costumes made that, quite frankly, are completely beyond my ability despite having access to the exact same tools. Then, there are the wonderful people I’ve met at Hero-Con and Meet & Greets. It has definitely been my pleasure to work with this community.

In closing, I’d like to thank you all for the good times and putting up with my sometimes surly nature. Going forward, Synapse and Black Scorpion are the ‘go to’ guys whenever you have a powers or entity related question or problem. Feel free to direct your inquiries to them here on the boards and they will do their best to address them. I’ll have PM’s turned on as Castle until 12:00 Pacific, Friday, December 24. Feel free to PM me or post here – I’ll try and answer or comment as best I can!
You will be sorely missed, Castle. Thank you for your hard work.

Castle has been a player longer than he's been a dev. Damn good one, too. One of my favorite screenshots from Sunday, April 25, 2004:

If you look deep enough into the history of the game, Cryptic set up representitives for each archtype in the game. Castle represented stalkers. I don't think the program actually lasted very long but, as far as I'm concerned, Castle IS the patron saint of stalkers.

Sorry to see Castle go,had a small conversation with him when I asked him when the other shoe would drop.

Wonder which Dev will be next to leave the game?

I'm sorry I only just noticed this, but in the hope that you're still following the forums, I'll go ahead and add my response anyway.

I'm really sad to see you go, Castle. It's been a pleasure watching you work on the game, and I'm really going to miss you. Best of luck to you wherever go and whatever you wind up working on!

Your successors have very large shoes to fill; I hope they're up to the challenge.

Nope, that would be Dawnfire. Flambeaux has pants under the skirt but still, my eyebrows hit the ceiling when Flambeaux first popped up in a mayhem mission!
