Is everyone making EVERY 50 an Incarnate ?
Eventually, I want the Alpha slot on all my characters. But I'm not fussing about getting it all done now.
Even though I don't know what the Beta through Omega incarnate levels will offer, the Alpha slot is just way too useful (for me at least) not to get on my characters. I can plug in the biggest hole in my characters (IO'd or not)...I just can't resist that. Hell, I even unlocked multiple T2s on some of my characters to switch between depending on what powersets we have on the team. Like my main toon (Fire/Fire blaster), I changed his end-game build a bit with I19, and now even though it's a bit of an End hog, it does considerably more damage. The T2 End Alpha fully fixed that... But then again, I also got the T2 damage on him, in case we have a Kin or Rad on team, I can even do MORE damage than the crazy amounts I'm already dishing out. How can I NOT want that? :P
Also, like someone else has already mentioned, it won't hurt to have the toons started on the incarnate route in case some of the future incarnate levels are something that I would really want on certain toons.

Not going to make every lvl 50 an incarnate.
Ok, granted that will be easy as I have not gotten that many (never been a priority) level 50's. I only got 3. I've given my two favourite chars the alpha slot, but the third lvl 50... no.
I have no idea what I'm going to do with that char (she is mentioned in another thread vaguely) since im not that quite fond of that char.
Might be some more incarnates down the road, but they got to get their levels first.

For me the answer is no. I have a lot of 50's just that I cant see everyone of them becoming an incarnate. Its like I see my many guys like a Justice League. Sure there are a LOT of really power guys in the Justice League but there is ONE Superman... ONE Green Lantern... Kind of like that..
SO I find myself selecting certain 50's being elected to Incarnate status. Anyone else going this way ??? |
Currently published Mission Architect arcs:

Arc ID# 403174: The Serpent's Revenge.
Arc ID# 534236: The Clockwork Angel.
My 13 hero 50's on my main server have all opened the slot and 7 have slotted it at least to the opening level. The Ramiel arc takes about 15 minutes to complete (mission drop vs Honoree mish if non-soloist). One or maybe two ITF/LGTF/KTH and its slotted. Easy peasy. Extra powah. I don't have any concept of the chars in which it would be exclusive to incarnate evolution, not that I have ever felt compelled to gimp a character for RP sake.
i ran the intro on all my 50s mainly due the fact that:
- incarnate shards do not drop at ALL if you havent opened the slot and
- shards and components are both untradeable anyway so if i do use my alt toons i want them to at least make progress on the boost

Well, there is only one NEED to fill the alpha slot, and that's for the 2 tfs. For now, only a select few will run the many tfs needed to fill the slot and keep some shards stashed for future conversions.
It's a nice feeling to be able to help other folks get through the tfs by asking the team leader, "What AT would help most?" So, for now, one damage, one debuff and one damage mitigation(tank/brute) and one buff toon will get the slots filled. So far, I'm 2 out of 4.

I'm a Roleplayer, and I'm only making Incarnates out of the characters it makes sense for story-wise. That's three of my eight 50s so far, and only two more of my lower level characters I'm planning on it with down the road. This is out of 48 characters currently.
Interestingly, 4 of the 5 who have been or will be made Incarnates are Magic Origin. The whole thing feels saturated in Magic to me. And then I've got one Natural Origin guy who was borderline Magical enough that it felt right for him too. My Science and Tech characters, I just don't know how to deal with this crap in their storylines without them ceasing to be Science and Tech characters on some level. I don't have any Mutants that I roleplay often enough to think about it. |
I just unlocked the Alpha for my one and only 50 to date, and he's simply a good fighter with no ties to any "magic well" mumbo-jumbo (no, not even subconsciously). Any abilities he gets through the Incarnate system are simply further training, experience, blah blah Badass Normal stuff. He never "really" worked with Mender Ramiel or even visited Oroborous; that's just something that I did as a player in a non-RP context, akin to the character creation.
Just like Inspirations, Enhancements, and pretty much every other game mechanic, your Incarnate Abilities represent whatever you want them to. The flavor text is optional, and it's all flavor text.
That said, you might well decide that it doesn't make sense for a given character of yours to have Incarnate abilities regardless of what those abilities actually mean. Nothing wrong with that, of course.
So far I have opened the alpha for 10 of my 50s. Slotted 7 with the first tier and 3 with the second tier. It is my plan to open the alpha for all my 50s.

No way.
I have 56 50s, and will do about 20 of them.
So far have unlocked 15, and of those have 7 uncommon slotted and 2 common slotted.

As I said on another, similar thread:
Only three or four of my characters (currently 16, of which 12 are 50s) are going to be unlocking that content and reaching that next level of power. The rest are "merely" super-powerful beings. Heck, some are just really lucky, well-trained, and/or well-equipped humans with plot armor!
This is mostly a story consideration, but also convenient for me in that I don't have to go through the process on all of them.

For me the question isnt if I am making every 50 an incarnate but more so if its possible to do so. I have alot of squishie toons and that arc gave me alot of trouble, for the most part the missions with the EBs were dropped because I dont have time to deal with the frustration of having to play the devs want me to play. As for as wanting all to be incarnates definately. I think anyone who doesnt is selling themselves short. We are lacking on slots in this game for alot of powers and the alpha slot helps this to some degree.

I have unlocked everyone that is 50. I decided that since I dont know what is coming in the future I might very well like some of the planned stuff so better just unlock it now.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
Im going with Necrotech and Airhammer. I ran the arc on all but one of my 50's so far (so 6 of them are open) , and I have been working 6-7 days 60+ hours a week plus hanging with a real-life actual cute girl. (Hey its been years, and I'm enjoying it, sue me :-)
Anyway, I figure I might as well open the slot on 50's when I can. Last night I saw some people looking to team for it, since Trapdoor got "harder" with the last patch. I have solod him with scrapper and tank but teamed for others. I knew no matter what, that I was not going to try to solo Trapdoor with my emp defender (one of the two toons that had not done it) so I jumped on my emp and the arc was over in a few minutes on a full team.
While I am concentrating on running TF's for shards with my scrapper main, sometimes we might a different AT or something, then I can jump on a different character and they can at least get shards for doing it. Might as well open them all just in case.
Unfortunately, there is no reason NOT to do so.
I have a couple of role-playing toons that I probably won't bother with, but even in roleplaying terms, it's hard to justify not taking villains on the Incarnate path to "more power".
Since it is the only way to get 50+ content, and since the 50+ content so far (Tin Mage and Apex TFs, for example) is impossible to do without Incarnate status, the choice is either go Incarnate or keep doing newspaper/radio scanner/AE missions with our 50's.
Besides, since we have yet to see an Incarnate Power that eliminates Travel Power Suppression and put us on a level with Synapse and Neuron, it's pretty obvious that some Incarnates are more Incarnate than others, so it's not like we'll ever get to their level.
Come to think of it, even if we do get to Statesman's level, Synapse and Neuron are, by definition, more powerful than him, since they don't have Travel Power Suppression. Since the other Incarnate abilities will bring us up to Statesman's level, and none of them eliminate Travel Power Suppression, then logically, Statesman is subject to Travel Power Suppression, while Synapes and Neuron are not.

Or let the dead horse lie...
And by the way, other than brains all Synapse really has going /is/ speed. Not strength, power, invulnerability, etc. like States.

I only have 8 fifties. All are slotted with uncommon boost now.
Not a chance.
Not every one of them would come into contact with the Well anyway, and I'm reserving it for heavily played and useful alts.

I've unlocked the Alpha slot on 2 of my 5 50s so far (1 with Cardiac Radial, one unslotted).
Of the remaining 3, one (Earth/Storm Controller) will get her Alpha Slot soon, one (Ice/Traps Corruptor) isn't very fun to play, so he'll stay permanently shelved, and one (WP/Fire Tanker) has some real IO slotting problems that I need to work out before continuing on with him.
Meanwhile, I'm playing a 45 Controller and 40 Brute a lot, so they may be my next Alpha candidates.
