Honoree mission Awful

Hmmpf. I started through the arc and found out that the Trapdoor mission can't be auto-completed for some reason. Oh well. It's not as nasty as the other two elite boss missions, especially if you can lure Trapdoor into the lava. As long as I can auto-complete the other two EB missions, I'm happy.

I'll agree with Shubbie that a lot of casual players will have a rough time with the Honoree fight. But that's okay, as far as I'm concerned. The arc leads to content that is designed for the more hardcore players. As an introduction to that content, it should be tricky to get through. Players should try to get through the rough spots to get them ready for the content that follows.

Since I won't be doing the follow-on content, it's just an ordinary story arc for me, so I don't mind auto-completing the more annoying missions.

I could see how this mission would be frustrating to players who aren't used to fighting EBs. And it IS a frequently complained about mission in Broadcast. So much so that I logged a tanker in and ran through the arc three times helping people complete it before logging out... and likely will again when I log back in.

For me it wasn't even the 2 EB's that made this mission hard.

It's the combination of the Portals and targeted ambushes in there.

I think without those ambushes this mission would be a lot more bearable for most people.

On my Stalker, the strategy I was using was to target each portal, run around the wall at the front of the room deal with the mob, repeat til EB's are Isolated then pull them individually. If you get both focus on the vanguard guy first as he'll go down easier than Honoree. chances are you will get face planted but then you just have to deal with Honoree on his own, once your at this point normal EB strategies should work.

If you have ranged attacks it should be possible to pull each EB individually without having to deal with the portals. You might want to deal with the front portals anyway though just in case.

I didnt come for advice, I came here to make a statement that I thought the mission was bad, and what was the point of making a solo mission so difficult players reaction was in general to drop it.

Which I thought I said in the initial post but I actually didnt.

I also think that the mission being faction locked in RWZ doesnt make sense considering how bad villianside teaming is. WHich is a LONG standing problem.

You need a different strategy or a few friends. I was able to solo it on my Pistol/Kin Corr.

Redside population is not a problem on Virtue. What times do you play?

This mission is darn near undoable by squishies unless they are bleeding io's from their ears.

Melee's are soloing this fairly easy and dont want or need to team up with the squishies.

And I saw alot of people saying just drop the mission, its not worth it...

whats the point of putting in a mission so many people are just going to drop.
I had the opposite complaint.

I thought it was too easy, my hp bar never even moved.

well shubb, heres the deal. this mission is the beginning of "endgame" for the player character. as it is in most online games out there, endgame is an additional challenge. some will enjoy that, some dont. honestly, knowing your posting history from the extended time we have seen each other, i could have told you that you wouldnt like it, it is a challenge. no biggie, endgame isnt going to be for everyone, but be aware that any endgame stuff that comes out is going to annoy you, because it will be challenging, and you will, as you have for years, hate it. its really best to come to a realistic conclusion on that as soon as possible.

I've seen no change in redside teaming quantity, plenty when I want.

Have completed this mission solo and duo'd more than once in testing with a variety of alts.

well I decided to try it on my dom... it was so easy it wasnt funny, all I did was pull and drop a water spout on honoree and laugh as he scooted around on his rump trying to stand up.

This seems to be completly a powerset issue.

Villian teaming is still a problem though.

As became apparent during Beta test, one of the key things to do is simply not go in the room, if you have a ranged attack like say Hurl or the vet reward Nemesis Staff/Blackwand you can actually single pull each EB out of the Rikti room and deal with them there.

Or you can simply drop this mission, having done it on test, I picked this option.

I'm all for things being challenging, but I don't think any game mechanic that makes it impossible to fight back is very good. If you're fighting hard and still get beaten it's a lot more fun than if you're held and unable to defend yourself. No one wants to be a spectator. But then, that's me.

Ok, I take it back.

This is for whatever wiseass decided that unlimited minion spawns in a HUGE mob was a fun idea;

YOU *******!!

I'm sorry, but go to hell! That was not fun, that was the biggest, steaming pile of 'The Computer is a Cheating ******!' I've yet to run into.
And, y'know what? I STILL beat both EBs. And then what does my internet do? IT DC'S BEFORE I CAN FINISH THE DAMN MISSION!
/Autocomplete

Thanks for not letting us EU players beta test due to the char transfer tool being shite again! Because I woulda had some god damn choice words to say abou that mission!

Don't mince words, Techbot. Tell us how you really feel about that mission.

I do think that the devs could have put in a better mechanism than hiding the EBs in a massive swarm of Rikti. Playing solo on the standard difficulty level, I was looking at over 100 Rikti massed together in the room before long. Finding the EBs in all that can be a challenge, and you can pull a maximum-aggro group of Rikti if you're not careful. It's kind of silly, really.

Actually this mission is pathetically easy to do once you figure it out.

There are only 2 foes in the end room you need to fight at all. Use any ranged ability to pull one of them out of the swarm and defeat that one fighting well away from the crowd. Repeat for the other one and you are done with it.

IGNORE THE HUGE CROWD OF RIKTI THEY ARE JUST A DISTRACTION!

"Pathetically" easy? You still have to fight two elite bosses (one at a time), which is going to be rough on a lot of solo players. (With a small team though, yes, it should be easy once you figure it out.)

I managed to aggro the first EB and draw her out of the mob.
That...woman has so many cheaty powers its unbelievable. Not to mention that asdjahfgag curse. I HATE the god damn Curse of Weariness. If ever there was power that was Not Fun its that one.
So, by the time I'd finally dragged her down and beaten her to pulp?

The end room was COVERED in Rikti.
I'm a Bots/Traps MM. Ignoring them is not physiucally possible when one shot of AoE Aggroes the whole damn lot!

The mission is NOT hard. It IS stupidly bloody cheap. It just uses cheap, overwhelming ammounts of minions (who give no inf or prestige. An extra kick in the fork) to drag it out and make it really. Damn. Frustrating.
And god help you if your net dies when talking to the second downed EB....

Some people just can't solo well. Has nothing to do with the build and everything to do with the player.

I remember back after I think it was ED or one of the other big changes some players were complaining that they literally couldn't solo some regular mission. Statesman copied the player who said that's character an assult/dev slotted nothing and then soloed it using only the dropped inspirations and enhancements he got in the mission the player was complaining about.

So there are players who just due to their style of play can't solo well.

heh effective rebuttal, but what a typically dick move.

Just finished this mission solo.

Thanks to this thread I went in expecting the worst so I set myself to +0 x1. I THOUGHT I had set myself to No AV but as I entered that last room with Holtz and Honoree, I quickly found out that I made a boo boo. 2 even con AVs with swarms of Rikti. Ehh, why not?

I mopped up that room in about 8 minutes.

This mission is NOT the OMGfest I was expecting.

Edit: BTW, I'm using a Crab.

/facepalm

It is easy for a master mind to manage. But you must manage your minions.

back in the piller room set your minions to a specific location in the room. Set the minions to passive/defend. Move forward just to the edge of range and pull one of the two EB's. Retreat back to your minions. When the EB comes into range you can switch them to attack.

The key is to never let your minions get near the rikti room.
