Discussion: Issue 19 Launch Update

With GR or not, every single toon is getting the ability to choose three powers they never had before for no extra cost.

And yet, there are many who find reasons to complain. I tell you, sometimes I do not understand people.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Good point!
Funny how people don't mention that very much...

I'm cool with the dolling out as things are ready approach. Early, late, whenever.... I happen to enjoy the game in its current state, so, new stuff is just extra.

And it was just that, the Alpha slot itself. No unlocking arc, no TF's to use them on.
It was all rather underwhelming. I'm very glad they decided to postpone it.

The other part that got 'removed' was Ultra Mode. It came sooner and was free.
Ultra Mode is like putting sprinkles on **** if you don't have good quality stuff to do to enjoy it. Gameplay has been whats kept most of us here all this long while, not some graphics upgrade that adds a shadow.

Inherent Fitness should have been introduced in Going Rogue since they stated their target was to attract new players, new players aren't as aware they have to take that pool to function without as much of an interruption in their play. Then changing it on the new players once they know that they need it 3 months later seems to make so much sense. They should have had the vision to see this and put it into place with GR since this is designed to help keep the new subscribers, not just us long-timers. Not all of a sudden realize during their actually reading their forum topics of people that had an expectation and conveyed it of why a good chunk of people didn't like to play the majority of the addition that is pre-20 stuff because of no stamina, then a few days later they unveil this big idea, "hey gang inherent fitness!". Should have been done before i19.

Or they could have been trying to track it down and fix it since it was first discovered, but once the 16th got too close they realized they weren't going to be able to fix it in time.

Wait, what?
What's being paid separately?
The only thing i can think of that even vaguely relates to this assertion is the Party Pack, and really it's not Going Rogue content even if a few of the dance emotes were accessible during the closed beta.
Going Rogue content being released over more than one issue is not news, and trying to turn that into Going Rogue being sold as separate parts requires some impressive mental gymnastics. Seriously, even before GR went live it was known that Incarnate content would be released over multiple issues, and that other GR content would be expanded over time as well. At no point will i be paying separately for GR content. As more is released i will have access to it simply by having bought GR when it was first released. No further payments required.

Just because it is happening now doesnt give you the right to say it should have happened earlier.

Yes, and all the content from the past 18 issues should've just been made available at launch! It's so obvious! I hate how the devs keep holding stuff back!

Also, because certain other people seem to have very... let's say malleable... memories it's worth noting that at the M&G where they announced the goal of releasing on the 16th they also said that it would be delayed until after the American Thanksgiving holiday if it wasn't ready by the 16th.

As disappointed as i am by the delay i'm also capable of understanding why it's needed.

Pulling something that a segment of people wanted and were assuming was coming with what they paid for, then telling them they have to pay extra to get it is terrible. I would have rocked the airguitar if I was ever afk but I'm not gonna pay for it, sad that they make others double pay that want it. I'm wary of this for those emote lovers because who's to say that at a later time they won't say "Well incarnates WAS apart of the expansion but THIS incarnate level is special so it'll be $17.99 if you want it!" Sounds like some mafia stuff to me.

And yes you're right, all the way up until one week before Going Rogue hit, all that time for pre-orders and such, the vague information that was left open to interpretation had turned to the belief that the incarnates were going to be split into two. The sample level with Going Rogue, then the rest with the next issue, seemed rather acceptible with the way other games "expansions" worked. So yes it was known it was not all coming at once, but within a good amount of time. But Posi finally cleared the air 6 months later from the introduction about 10 incarnate levels to where now they are going to sparse it off one level or two at a time with each issue, or who knows, they left it rather vague still so rather than assume the best (10 incarnate levels within 2 issues release) now those who want this must assume the worst (10 incarnate levels within 2 years of releases).

Captain Hindsight will always be there, right after something happens!

I still have the right to say the people leading need to have better vision. Why? Because I've paid my fees just like you. The information was there, they've just failed to acknowledge it. The passengers on the Titanic didn't need Captain Hindsight to save the day, they needed to have their leaders look out for that iceberg.

This message is specifically to Championess, because I hope he/she reads this and for others to note so we can stop this stupid argument, in so far as I see it.

What it looks like to me readings the last few pages is that Championess is angry that he/she resubbed to this game with the intent of playing I19 this week, due to the devs wanting to release this game on the 16th-ish. It seems as if Championess is just arguing because he/she wants to blow of steam and vent. Championess does not seem to comprehend that in his/her view of what would make him/her happy, i.e. I19 should have been released with bugs, would have prevented some ATs from working at all. Clearly Championess is a bit egotistical and it should be advised to ignore him/her from now on, because all the valid arguments have been made at to why I19 was not released this week and he/she is coming up with any argument he/she can in order to support his/her view that he/she was unjustly aggrieved by resubbing and "wasting" money.

This is only a game and the prudent thing would be to delay the release because of the inherent fitness bug that was recently addressed, but needs time to be properly tested. I too would have loved to have I19 released this week, but to release the issue in the state it was on the 16th would have been foolish and caused a lot more headaches and complaining than delaying it. If anyone cannot see these reasons and understand the delay, than no amount of arguing or using logic will help someone "see" the light. They are already in their own little cave and do not pay attention to differing views, because they choose not to. Can we please stop wasting time trying to "help" someone who clearly does not want to listen to reason and wants to validate their feelings and reactionary attitude.

Thank you for your assertion but no you are wrong. I've been playing this game for a long time, the way things have been going for the last year have caused me to finally voice my opinions on these forums (forum reg date is less than a year) because all of the people touting how great any setback is finally got under my skin. I could care less about being bombarded with comments from all of the people that see no evil, hear no evil, but maybe someone who wants to aspire for things to be better will decide to voice their opinion as well.

I'm upset that yes I am paying for something that keeps getting postponed, what if everyone wanted to postpone their payments, wouldn't they want to work harder to make sure their product survives?

Expect more and just maybe you will get it!

Man, I wish ncsoft was as forgiving about our end of the deal as you are with theirs. Call them up and tell them that you really wanted to send in your game fees on the due date, but due to technical difficulties you have to delay.

NCSoft: "Thats OK electric knight, we LOVE our players and really appreciate the fact you've supported our game over the years, so don't worry about this months bill, send it in whenever you want! We know you agreed to send it in on the (insert date here), but it's ok if you just guess or make up dates then just send it in whenever you want. Heck, if you do send it in, to us it's just 'extra'! Thanks again for being a super-duper customer. We're gonna send you a free code for the party pack just for the heck of it. Is your address still 34 gumdrop lane in candyland?"

Hehe, yeah, that's cute and I get it, but it really doesn't match at all.

You see, in reality, I pay for a game that I enjoy to play.
I enjoy it in its current state. I don't pay for future promises, other than that the game will be there for me to play for the next period of time I have paid for (And past experiences have told me that even that is not guaranteed with this industry).

They haven't failed to deliver a single bleeding thing that I was owed.

If/when they make changes to the game that I do not like, I will stop paying and get up to something else.

I don't pay for a product that doesn't satisfy me and I don't count on future improvements/additions.
Sure, sometimes there are future additions that get me a bit excited and I'm eager to play with those new toys, but my enjoyment never hinges on that and I prefer not to consider it much until it is here.

Best of luck with your method.

Actually, I would have to say that this is pretty accurate overall. The fact is whether it is an "Official" announcement on the forums or an "Unofficial" announcement at a M&G, the fact that the company reps say there is a "projected date" makes it an official announcement in an unofficial situation. If they didn't want the heat, then maybe they should have kept their mouths closed.

In itself missing this deadline wasn't really a bad thing and I am not really upset over it, but from the little bit of research I have done it is not exactly a solitary mistake. Even if you subtract out the few things they managed to get to us early, it still makes for a bad image in being "tardy".

Fact is though, we ARE much more forgiving with NCSoft/Paragon Studios when they mess up than they would be with us if we messed up our finances and we couldn't pay the sub fee on time. For this reason I don't have a problem when Mr. Cyber_naut or Mr. GMan3 (and a few others) make a complaint on this companies performance. Maybe if we all were a little more critical they would start to perform better since they might learn we are "tired of mediocrity".

I hope I managed to say what I meant pretty clearly here. I am not usually very good at that according to my Writing Composition teacher anyways.

Fourth year in a row they've pushed a release back behind Thanksgiving. Honestly who was expecting them to deliver in time for the holiday?

I'm happy with CoX and the Dev's in general don't get me wrong, but really folks, they are providing a service that we all pay for and information should be flowing easily, epically when you consider that we travel to their website to find out whats going on, rather then they pushing it to our in boxes or (gasp) using snail-mail as companies had to use in the past or town criers in the distant past.

Our expectations have gotten lower and lower...sad...
I consider it just a function of courtesy. They said something informative and
functionally useful rather than clamming up. I said something small back to show
I appreciate the information flow. If they told me I could go play with sod, I
would have something equally charming to say in return.

It doesn't change that I don't appreciate that information coming with a dev
feeding me inane marketing chimpanzee speak though, so I said something in reply
to that too.

Reply in kind to what you get.

Things being postponed isn't a new concept, **** happens, get over it. You are paying for a luxury, you are not entitled to a thing besides access to the servers.

This game doesn't run on rainbows and smiles and stuff magically happens. If you honestly lead yourself to believe the Devs don't work hard, then you seriously need to get over yourself.

I've had a glimpse into the industry, this job by no stretch of the imagination is easy and for most people who dream of being a game designer will find out unless they truly have a passion for the industry, it is not all it's cracked up to be.
