I liked the comedy and especially the MASSIVE ego of Dr. Aeon. The map was pretty cool too. The spelling errors AND the fact that Black Scorpion was the only entry to the costume show seems like a poor plan though. Also, though I liked the map, it didn't seem right to use it since that put Black Scorpion in Atlas Park for peaceful reasons? Just a little weird. Overall, the negatives of this over-powered the positives and since I don't like rounding, I would give it two stars.

Quote:Actually, I would have to say that this is pretty accurate overall. The fact is whether it is an "Official" announcement on the forums or an "Unofficial" announcement at a M&G, the fact that the company reps say there is a "projected date" makes it an official announcement in an unofficial situation. If they didn't want the heat, then maybe they should have kept their mouths closed.Man, I wish ncsoft was as forgiving about our end of the deal as you are with theirs. Call them up and tell them that you really wanted to send in your game fees on the due date, but due to technical difficulties you have to delay.
NCSoft: "Thats OK electric knight, we LOVE our players and really appreciate the fact you've supported our game over the years, so don't worry about this months bill, send it in whenever you want! We know you agreed to send it in on the (insert date here), but it's ok if you just guess or make up dates then just send it in whenever you want. Heck, if you do send it in, to us it's just 'extra'! Thanks again for being a super-duper customer. We're gonna send you a free code for the party pack just for the heck of it. Is your address still 34 gumdrop lane in candyland?"
In itself missing this deadline wasn't really a bad thing and I am not really upset over it, but from the little bit of research I have done it is not exactly a solitary mistake. Even if you subtract out the few things they managed to get to us early, it still makes for a bad image in being "tardy".
Fact is though, we ARE much more forgiving with NCSoft/Paragon Studios when they mess up than they would be with us if we messed up our finances and we couldn't pay the sub fee on time. For this reason I don't have a problem when Mr. Cyber_naut or Mr. GMan3 (and a few others) make a complaint on this companies performance. Maybe if we all were a little more critical they would start to perform better since they might learn we are "tired of mediocrity".
I hope I managed to say what I meant pretty clearly here. I am not usually very good at that according to my Writing Composition teacher anyways. -
Quote:I have to admit that I don't exactly like how Mr. GMan3 phrased that, mostly because it is exactly the lecture I would have gotten in the same situation. I have to say though that the lesson I was taught is that if you mess up - you admit it, take ownership of it and apologize. If Mr. Miller had made a post a long time ago saying something like: "My mistake all, sorry for the confusion" then I have a feeling this never would have happened. Instead Mr. GMan3 felt he had to remind Mr. Miller what he was taught by his own parents and what he is probably teaching his own children (if he has any).Dude seriously. I hope your children teach you not to be arrogant towards other adults and treat other people with respect.
It was a little ugly maybe, but somehow I feel it was appropriate. Kinda like when one poster tells another to stop acting like a jerk and all. But what do I know, I don't even turn 15 till next month. -
Hey Mr Nethergoat, since that extra two bucks doesn't mean anything to you, why don't you buy copies for all your accounts just to spite the people that don't like it. You know, like you told us you did with the Party Pack.

Quote:Whip up fake outrage? Funny, I did NOT see that Ma'am. He made a statement and then further explained it to one other person who commented. Then you appear try to whip up some false image of what he is saying. He was reasonable, you started the personal attacks. You lost.He was called out on his rather shallow efforts, and beat a hasty retreat - logic can have that effect on certain types
If using game assets to show Tyrant talking to his troops is ok to make the trailer more dramatic, then using game assets to show a portal to Primal Earth to make the trailer more dramatic is also ok - or else, they're both equally "dishonest" - one can't be good and the other bad, because they're exactly the same thing being used for exactly the same purpose.
At this point I think I will walk away as well. You are just not being reasonable here and that is not good for this forum or this game. -
Or he was mature enough to move on since you refuse to step out of the fan box Ms. Golden Girl. I don't fell the same way Mr GMan3 does about the clip but at least he didn't start the personal attacks, you did. Surest sign you lost is when you had to resort to that.
-
Wow Ms. Golden Girl. I am kinda surprised here. I mean, from your other posts you are a college student. I am fourteen and even I could see the dishonesty there. Putting out a trailer for a task force, that has a scene shown in it that is not in the task force, is a lie. No two ways about it. Granted, I wasn't as upset about it as Mr. GMan3 is, but that is probably at least partially because his friend was so upset. I know I would be more than a little embarrassed if the same thing happened to me.
-
You know GMan3, I was wondering if FelicityBane and Nethergoat were the same person on alternate accounts too. They do have the same style of attack posts instead of constructive arguments. Their signatures are even of a similar sort, the type that attacks everyone that disagrees with them. Mr. Nethergoat did admitted to buying more than one of the "Party Packs" for his alternate accounts too a while back. Even if they are not the same person though, I would lump them into the same sack - people to NOT listen too most of the time.

Quote:Well Mr. GMan3, I am not sure I like your analysis of these parts of the game, but I am having a hard time finding any real errors in it either. If I look past my feelings though, I have to give you a two thumbs up for a good analysis of the basics. I think I fall in that Total Fan group of people though and my overall feelings are clouded by my new found love of the game. This lag is starting to annoy me though. I thought saving my money up all summer from my summer job and buying a really good computer would help, and it has a little, just not very much.Lastly DarkGob, I would ask you one thing. Go back and read that list you skimmed over. Look at it for what it is, a bare bones analysis of the changes/additions you listed and see if I am really wrong in what I say. I have no doubt we may disagree on how good something is, but am I wrong in my overall analysis of those items?

Quote:Well, based on this statement of yours sir, none of your arguments carry any weight either.how about this then, you don't have access to any accurate or meaningful numbers and so your predictions on this topic carry no intrinsic factual weight.
EDIT: Dang, I see someone beat me to it. Oh well, it still is true. -
I've noticed this too, but still about 95% of the posts are negative. Heck, even the ones that support the pack mostly say the price is too high, but they just have to buy it for whatever their mental dysfunction is. I have no problem with the people that honestly like this pack and feel it is worth the money, but buying something you feel is not worth the price is just silly.

Wow. I'm fourteen and if I turned in a "summary" like this to one of my teachers, I would get an "F" (for Failed) for sure. Maybe the author of this "summary" should also get an "F" (for Fired) from his boss? This thing was so poorly written it makes the website and Paragon Studios look bad. Heck, I'm kinda embarrassed just reading the thing and I had nothing to do with it.

I have to agree with GMan3 here Dispari (and Captain Fabulous). I started playing around last Christmas (2009) and I was surprised at how easy the game was. That actually put me in a funk for a while toward this game. Now we get a new starting area with some real challenge and people like you want to Nerf it. I'm sorry, but that is lame.
Oh and how many new players even know what a global channel is? I played for three months before someone told me about them. That part of your argument makes you look like a liar or at the very least an exaggerator. Not sure which. (Not saying you are, but that is what it looks like from here.) -
Bummer about the Incarnate thing, but I think I would rather they fix it before releasing it. Better that than buy a new Toyota whose breaks don't work, right?
-
Gratz to all the Winners.
-
From what I read in another post that is part of GR/Issue 18 and since they are coming out at the same time, August 17th would be your date.
-
I think that is what I said, Sir. Just not as straight forward as you. I still stand by my statement that the use of swearing hurts your arguements MUCH more often that it helps.
-
I wish I could e-mail that much. Your welcome to throw some my way! Never mind, it will be more fun to earn it.

Quote:I haven't been around long enough Sir, but I can't agree with your reasoning. I actually found a "red name" (I think it was Back Alley Brawler, but I'm not positive now) post last night though that admitted they were not doing right by the players in getting the patch notes out so slowly and were trying to do better about it.For everyone who either hasn't been around long enough to know or hasn't cared enough to remember, patch notes in CoX are generated when whichever dev checked in a fix writes the thing while checking in said fix. They always refused to post exploit fix descriptions on the Test server and sometimes people forget to type up (or mistype) a description of a fix when they check it in. Those typed up notes included in their fixes are then compiled and reviewed and then posted.
For the record, I'm not seeing any graphical changes when I'm in game. Doesn't mean they're not there, but running at the level I've been running at hasn't shown any changes to me.
Also, to quote GMan3 earlier in this thread "It is MY computer that is being updated, I would like to know in a basic way what is happening. I don't find that unreasonable and neither should you if you think a little more about it . . ." His reasoning is pretty good, it may be their game, but it is my computer.
I really don't think anyone cares about the exploit fixes being listed on the test server, but most of the rest of the fixes should be. After all, it really shouldn't be too hard since they are working off a "list" of problems to begin with. A little cut and paste, then clean it up and post it. -
Quote:Sir, please correct me if I am wrong, but I think Question #7 states pretty clearly that every AT will have access to Ancillary Pool Powers (and that current AT's w/o APP's will get them with GR) and every one will have the option of running the Patron Arc to get Patron Pool Powers.Fair enough. But if the question is making sure both factions have the same amount of options, then you either need to remove the villain pools, or add new hero pools. And it's a little late to remove the villain pools.
So, why would there be a need to add or subtract anything? It seems to me that everyone will now be on an equal footing. -
Not that it really matters Ma'am, but I am not sure that arguement works. Look at Grandville, no traffic and everyone complains about how they lag the most in that zone. I've even noticed the same problem more often in Nerva and no traffic there either.
-
Quote:Mr TrueMetal, sorry I took so long to respond but I just saw your post and I think you are misunderstanding me. I don't care if people do swear, heck I'm 14, for most of my friends cuss words are half of their vocabulary. What I am saying is it mostly fails to get your point through and often makes you look bad. I may not have been clear on that before. The forum automatically adds the **** to cover up 'bad' words.
Personally I find it an unnecessary PC thing, used to appease the oversensitives. But whatever floats your boat.
I am not trying to call anyone out, but to give an example, Mr SoulGem (post #76) has a pretty good areguement going and in it he swears twice. He does it in such a way that it sounds like a rant (I think that is what it's called) on how bad the work on costumes were and makes him and his arguement less effective. In this case the "forum" changed his words to **** as you described. I see a lot of posts that the people do it themselves using "%^&*" and such.
Now I will admit that swearing can be effective if used right (though seldom) and I will give you an example of that too. Post #74 by GMan3 also swears twice (and he uses the special characters I talked about) but in his case he seems to be using it to describe feelings and such in a pretty extreme situation and it worked out well in his arguement.
Overall though I am pretty sure the swearing (bad words) make people look less intelligent than they really are and hurt their arguements.
As for your PC comment (I think you meant Politically Correct, but I am not good with the shorthand yet), I really am not qualified to comment on that one, I'll let the adults sort that out.
P.S.- GMan3, your story was really funny. Thank you for telling it. It reminds me of stuff my parents tell me about their experiences. Oh and thank you for serving our great Country. -
Why is it everyone thinks they have to swear to get their point through? And then since swearing is expressly forbidden in the forums they decide to use special characters to "hide" the fact that they are swearing.
Here is a lesson that a 14 year old (me) learned last year, swearing just tells people you are ignorant and petty, therefore not to be listened too. If you want to be not just listened too, but heard, then try writing in such a way that people WANT to listen because of the strengths of your arguement. Heck, then even people who disagree with you will normally give a nod to your way of thinking and respect your arguement more.
(Btw, I learned this the hard way. Thanks Dad!)
Just a thought from a 14 year old delinquent. -
I'm glad I never turned in anything this bad to my English teacher last year in Creative Writing. She'd have killed my grade over it. The screen shots look awesome though.
EDIT: Ok, so someone gives me this negative reputation point on this post - "Swearing is bad, but being plain insulting isn't? Nice."
I have to assume it is talking about another post I made but I can not for the life of me figure out why it was hidden here. Also since I only have four posts I can't even figure out what they are talking about, none of them are insulting that I can figure out. Anyways, seems kinda childish but that's just my opinion. -
I'm kinda new here, but is it normal to take so long with the patch notes on the forums and on the main website? I know it annoyed me.
