Have you met any of your COH/COV/GR buddies offline?

I got into COH because most of my college buddies made me play it. I loved the game. I never have interacted much with others because well I mostly still play with my college buddies. Anyway, I was wondering if many folks made new friends playing COH/COV/GR ?. Also if you have made friends on here do you communicate with them offline as well as online?

I might be crazy asking that uestion, but I'm just wondering if the community goes beyond the game as far as social interaction?

I've met several - first at HeroCon 2008 and 2009, then again at the Arizona Meet & Greet, and several of us just hang out on occasion.

Since moving to Seattle, hoping to organize a Seattle M&G, and in a great "what a small world" example, one of the guys I'm friends with, turns out lives in my new apt complex.

All my sgmates even though we live in different states are friends offline via facebook.(my personal sg not the 88's)

One buddy of mine lives about an hour away but,we have never met due to our schedules, and my sidekick in the game is my wife.

My SG did a meet and greet a while back before I joined them. I know of a few people who met in game and are now married. One couple I know met on EverQuest, think I've only seen one in-game wedding though.

Aside from one person I've talked into playing the game for a while, I've
- gone to an area meet and greet,
- lived with an SG mate for a while,
- worked with at least 2 other COH players,
- and am going to two COH-playing-friends RL wedding. Which will actually be the first time I've seen them in person.

I ended up dating a girl that I met in CoH the week that it launched, though I didn't know it until after a couple dates. (She later went on to WoW, so that had to end. )

There've been a couple attempts to meet up with in-game friends. Last year, a friend of mine from Florida came to my town to visit some family friends... but it was over a holiday weekend when I was visiting my mom. Another friend of mine threw a CoH buddy party this past spring, and I was all set to go to that... until right beforehand I found out he's got several cats, and I'm deathly allergic.

I was going to go to HeroCon this year, but since they downgraded it to a one-day meet and greet, I couldn't warrant spending all that money travelling cross country. Furthermore, marketting's lack of info until right before these gatherings makes it a huge pain in the butt to get plane tickets and a hotel reservation at what I would consider a reasonable price, not to mention time off from work...

I'm a sucker for player meets so I go to all the EU ones I can and I've met at least 10 if not more players from my SG and many, many more lovely people.

Most bizarre thing I ever found out was that I worked (and still do) in a building directly opposite the EU offices of NCSoft. More so, one of my work colleagues left my place to go and work as an 'intern' at NC straight over the road. So I ended up chatting to the EU Mod team at lunch frequently.

Many people, yes.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I know several IRL and I text/facebook with several others. I'm sure if the opportunity came up for some meet/greet with friends I'd meet even more. Besides the meet/greet that is setup in the States, that's a bit far for me to go. But yes, I've met several. Good times.

I showed my girlfriend the costume creator, and she's been playing with me for almost 2 years now, and I managed to drag another of my real-life friends into the game once he upgraded his computer. That pretty much makes up my supergroup.

I have IRL friends I game with, but I knew them long before there was even an internet.

I've made a ton of internet friends over the years in various communities, but have only met a few of them IRL.

The only people I know in CoH that I've met offline are people I knew before I played, including the person who got me to try CoH.

I wouldn't object to meeting a lot of these people IRL, I just haven't yet. I only met WoW players once during the 5 years or so I played.

I have a circle of a few folks I regularly team with, and I have met one in person several times when he was in the area. My family met another, but I couldn't be there.

I have several friends that play on and off - in fact a group of them made a SG based around membership in our other shared hobby (the SCA, Middle Kingdom - Draco Invictus!).

I've also been to 2 Meet & Greets at Origins, with some of the same players from year to year (Hi, Hyperstrike! Hi, satorisan!).

On-line - I have been a semi-regular member of a Saturday TF group and other members of that group play together when we happen to be on-line together at other times and look each other up fpr teaming.

I was brought into the game by a friend and we dragged another friend in. Now, the first friend hardly plays and our other friend and I are here all the time.

I was able to bring back a coworker who has become a close friend of mine. He played a couple years ago when I brought him in the first time. He was more into another game at the time Foxtrot likes to poke fun at. Since I got him to try CoH again, he is really enjoying himself here.

I personally keep in touch with gaming friends here through my website, facebook, email, and usually daily through Vent. If time and schedules mesh, I plan on meeting them in the really real world one day.

This community is filled with so many awesome people, who wouldn't want to be able to call you guys friends?

Yes, I met up with a woman that I played here with for a couple of years. I was in town for a business trip (I lived in PA and she in FLA). We had a blast together. Very strange building up this in-game relationship and then to meet them face to face. I was surprised to see that she could handle more booze than me. Good times.

I met my hubby through COX, moved to Tasmania to marry him. The friends we gamed with came to our wedding. Now we will get together to Pen and Paper game about 4 times a year since they live at the other end of state.

I've only met one of my CoH friends so far, but it went pretty well. We're married now.

As far as CoH, I went the opposite. Real-life friends got me into it. They then moved from Washington to the Midwest, and I'm now in Hawaii. So haven't seen each other in over 2 years. But still play every other week or so.

In terms of actually meeting anyone IRL who I game with initially, I can't imagine how that would be possible. I despise conventions and other forms of meet-and-greets, events, etc. So never met anyone there. I did try them for many years, but I just can't enjoy myself so I stopped going. I spend the whole time at an anime convention thinking I'd rather be home watching anime. At a game convention thinking I'd rather be home playing the game, etc. In theory if someone is in Hawaii, and free on a Saturday, shoot me a line I'll be glad to say hello. Other than that, it'd take a miracle.
