    Man Love For Ice

As things wind down, I just wanted to state my man love for Ice tanking and list off why. After all the tanks I've played, I enjoyed playing Ice the most.

100% resistance to -recharge, -run speed (Caltrops hahahahaha)
    Endless endurance with Energy Absorption
Aggro King with Chilling Embrace + Icicles
Relatively Easy to soft cap s/l/e/n
    Damage Aura
    Ability to perma Max hitpoints
Hibernate - who doesn't like turning into an invulnerable block of ice?
    +Perception built in
    Great -dam, -speed aura
Also like that it is not common.

I'm sure there is more but have to scoot for now. It was some good times!

For the record, Mother Mayhem. She demands high performance.
  3. oh man....nice video. I missed you guys last night....must have come on too late. So into my warshade right now and would love join you. Maybe next Friday.

  4. How late do you go? 9pm EST is too early for me...live in Phoenix and wife and kids dont go to bed to 9pm PST. Very interested to join you guys now. My MF Warshade which has been shelved for quite some time is going to be my farewell toon to level and IO out.
  5. OMG Saint. You "jogged" a memory for me.....thank you!

Think it was prior to COV but unsure. There was a race from Atlas to Peregrine Island Portal Corps.....lvl 1s only.....no powers or insps could be used except sprint. You had to follow a specific path via map gates and there were "spotters" to protect against cheaters or outside buffers.

It was just a cool feeling to be with a group of people....then to watch some people take an alternate route, never to show back up again....then to watch one by one as people would aggro groups and get taken out.

I can still remember running down the street in PI, clinging to the walls of buildings hoping not to get sniped....and there was someone a building or two behind me so it was a close race.

Happy to remember that I won that race but also the fun of it...with my toon Super Groovy (sneakers, high socks, short shorts, affro, wristbands, big "G" on my shirt).
  6. The first couple of weeks COH was released on my first account.

Street hunting Indy Port along the back wall/street with people I just met.....who would all become part of Dark Fallen SG and some would become very good friends. Here are some of the core names....been awhile...forgot some of the other

Chaos Nex - Fire/fire blaster (me)
    Blizzardo - Ice/cold blaster
    Evil Eye - Emp/Rad defender
    Lost Knight - Invuln/Axe tank

    I hate goodbyes

    Goodbye Sooner! And everyone else.
  8. I'd suggest /Time.

Not only can you build on their defense like FF (less than but still significant), you also get heals, holds, slows, to hit and damage debuffs, -def and -res. And the Time Junction PBAOE toggle that debuffs damage and tohit is the same radius as the FF's Dispersion Bubble (+def & status protection).
  9. Used some points for 24 pack, here is what I received:

    675 Merits
All Costume pieces after first 10 packs
    15 ATOs
    3 Catalysts
    10 Dual Insps
    8 Team Insps
    Enhancement Boosters (81 uses)
    Unslotters (19 uses)
    Windfall (12 uses)
    Restore (17 uses)
    Revival (16 uses)
    XP Booster (2 uses)
    Prestige Booster (1 use)
    Experienced (17 uses)

I enjoyed the process of flipping cards. And what someone else has said, now I guess I'll start to use some of these consumables that I wasn't using before (unslotters, boosters etc...)
  10. Thanks for the replies guys. I was just curious if I should run out and play the lotto or not. LOL.

I also wasn't sure if some people had made some best guesses as to the drop rates or not.

As far as the UG. I've seen a few broadcasts in RWZ that they've completed the UG and did not receive a R or VR. Anyone hearing this?
  11. I'm not sure if anyone can tell me this but I was curious as to what the odds are of receiving 3 VR drops from incarnates in a row. It happened to me 2 days ago and I'm sure I wont get another for 6 months just for that lucky streak.

They were dropped on my mind/psi dom +1 during the UG then BAF then Lambda.

(see snaptooth missions on V-Day and X-mas) So a good chance that new person who missed out this year will have a harder time next year to do it.
So there is nothing for new or relatively new people to do in the event? I just do not see the big deal with the level restriction and am happy to see new content. I'll leave final review though until after I play it.

If you are a new casual player that would have a hard time getting a toon to lvl 30, especially since half could easily be gotten from sewers as mentioned by you, then the content that is currently available should be more than enough to satisfy.

Well I posted a new thread and it ended up here as an add on. Unfortunately. And the new replies are based upon the old parts of the thread. Sigh.

I did see this thread in my search and noticed it was pre-freedom. So my question still stands, post Freedom.

Can you solo TFs using the same old format (start TF and one person has to log vs quit) or is there some different way....post Freedom.
  14. Assuming you have a toon that can do it.

It is my understanding that you need to fill the team to the set minimum and then can have everyone quit but one...who needs to log onto another toon or logout.

Does it still work this way?
  15. I agree with most of what has been said.

I'm not sure why those other zone have not been added. But why not the crossover zones either? Haven't heard a good reason. If I am a vigilante and want to go villain side for a TF or whatever, why not a TP to Grandville? I have access to it. And of course, straight heroes will not have access to those TPs.....just like they dont have access in Pocket D or RWZ.

I'd love to see more "stuff" to put in the SGs as well but I'm more keen on functionality. This is just a few of my suggestions.

*Personal vaults with more than just salvage....it's a pain juggling the few storage containers we have access restrictions.

    *Trainers

    *Costume designers

*Message center (like one of those kiosks or cork boards) with much larger space for messages and easy to change.

*Something thing to do with all of this prestige we've been earning. We love the reduction in costs from awhile ago.....but continue to earn with the hope that we can be able to use it.

*Easier rent payments. - Why cant we email our rent or set up an automated payment.

*More personalization of SG base for non leaders. - throwing out ideas but why not a "door" that takes you to your room in the SG that you can design 100% yourself....allow access to different members....store your stuff etc. Maybe even a TP into your room directly instead of the central hub...if you want.

Just some thoughts....I know some are repeats.
  16. I'm not sure if this still applies with all of the new stuff in this game since launch but what I really liked about this from the early days was its ease of use. Playing the game seemed very intuitive and natural. Sure there was/is plenty of nuances but it felt easy to play, easy to level, easy to team, easy to communicate.

Loaded game, signed on, made a cool character (imo) and started blasting stuff.

    Never looked back.
  17. I fall on both sides of the fence here i think.

I dig all of the extra stuff. I like being able to "buy" things that are new and other QOL things that were never available to us before....like extra slots for enhancements, storage, recipes, etc....I dig this. I also like that I can "catch up" on Vet rewards (so to speak). I've been here since the beginning but had to take a hiatus and it has irked me that I could never catch up with the vets (loved those vets).

What bothers me about Freedom is that I didn't realize that I would be spending more money on this game than the monthly subscription. I understand I do not have to but I just am....and it didn't seem like we were when it was originally described.

I also have an issue with both the pricing of things as well as the inability to test items first. OR at least have a precise description of the power or costume pieces or whatever prior to buying. And for Pete's sake, I'd love to have all of things I already bought somehow "checked" as already owned.

For some reason, I do not remember the warning on the rocket board about the untoggling......but then again....I must have just assumed it wouldn't be so bad or was blinded by the shiny new board.

    /signed.

I dig the rocket board but the total de-toggling is terrible. It doesn't make sense that as I get new powers (ie toggles), my chosen travel power (for convenience or concept) becomes a nuisance and is usually discarded. At least with Ninja Run and Beast Run, it doesn't de-toggle EVERYTHING.

Please change these new very cool travel powers.

Otherwise, I am forced to boycott all of the future installments out of principle.
  19. I am almost the exact opposite. I have never visited the events page. I dont even know where it is.
  20. I appreciate the shots of the winners. Since I didn't get a chance to participate, I like seeing who had the chops. Great costumes too.

And still people criticize they aren't doing enough.

    *facepalm*

For goodness sakes, it's a COSTUME CONTEST! You're not going to win. *I'm* not going to win! Something we both agree is doofy is going to win. Why? Because that's what CC's do! It's in the fine print of the rules, or a by-law or something. Even people you know that have exquisite taste will pick out something dumb when they sponsor a CC. Temporary insanity? Absolute power corrupting absolutely? We may never know! But we all know this is the guaranteed result of a CC.

    It just IS.

What we can do is go and have fun. And maybe even say "thanks, it was nice of you, we appreciate your thinking of us." And if you wanted to add "I know we'd all love to see you host a CC on (name your server), too, sometime!" I don't think anyone would be offended in the slightest. Heck, they may even feel inclined to go to (name your server) because all the people they've met from there lately seem so doggone likable.
    Agreed! Nicely put.

This post was hard to stomach with all the whining and I kept thinking of a quote from Louis CK (on Conan).

"How quickly the world owes him something, he knew existed only 10 seconds ago."

Some of the old ways or "hardships" let us learn invaluable skills. After so many instances of running around in The Hollows with such stiff penalties......many of us are now very skilled at not getting unwanted aggro. I am happy for those times.

I'd agree with the advice given by everyone so far but I didn't see anyone mention this.

You 3-slotted Fighting Phalanx and it cannot be enhanced. Sure you can put an IO in it (like LOTG or Kismet) but you can free up 2 slots that way.

And I wanted to re-iterate.....slot up you shields with defense first then put resists when you can.

Dont forget to get some accolades too. The +end and +hp ones are very nice for a shield toon.

Here is my current build. It's expensive but I do not have end issues at all except when doing extended farming....and all it takes is one blue amongst all of the other drops.

    100% agree.
  25. Electrical Melee - My two cents - Why not?

*It has multiple AOE knockdown powers for some mitigation.
*You would presumably build for recharge with regen which goes well with Lightning Rod.
*It's different. I have never seen an electrical regen. Yes yes, I am sure they are out there....just not so common in my neck of the woods.
*If you are going to use LR on a toon with its pet damage cap....it's best on a scrapper.
*It also has the AOE damage "mitigation", it can deal out some serious damage to large groups fast and knock them down while doing it.
*Single target is kinda brutal along the way but again with high recharge, you can put together a nice attack with an APP.

I have a STJ/Regen Brute and the mitigation from STJ is OK but I think Electrical is better.

Now I will have to say.....I totally dig the double AOE wallop of a Ele/SD scrapper.
