  1. Zwill, Thanks for sticking it out and all the activity. Even after the doors were slammed on your face you were there for us the community.

If you apply somewhere, let us know so we can bombard them with recommendations and letters saying what a great community manager you were for us. =)

Threads linger and discussion doesn't really catch on much.
Sam, in CO try the Until Action Pack "Aftershock". It is part 3, following on Serpent Lantern and Demonflame, but those are both absolutely frustrating unless you have a really solid team. Aftershock can be solo'd, even by me on a freebie not-very smartly equipped Unleashed AT. It is creepy, it is fun, it has some totally unique mechanics (one mission you have to control NPC movements by talking to them in Local chat), and a suitably epic climax.

So there is at least one strong writer on their team. I've heard the older stuff is more campy, the newer stuff is less. So at least that's a positive trend.

But it's not CoX, they don't have War Witch and they don't have Dr Aeon and it really shows. We got really lucky here. There is stuff I like in CO, but I want CoX to survive.
  3. During the Oroboros trial they mention that no one has ever actually managed to change time by flashback but they keep trying anyway. Given that the leader of Oroboros is silos/nemesis, what's really going on? And Given that dream doctor mentions Silos personally used time travel to prevent the destruction of Rularuu with the Dagger of Jocas, are the menders lying to the players or did silos lie to them?

Once and for all, is Pendragon the praetorian hero one or hero-1? It really really really seems like it, but I could never find an official "yes" or "no".

Is there a praetorian equivalent to pandora's box?

Is there a primal equivalent to the black prison?

Are the talons of vengeance in both dimensions the same or different? Where was this story arc going, like would we ever actually be facing down the furies themselves? And would they be as weak as most of the other deities presented in City (like the one in Scirocco's patron arc) or way up there like Mot?

Was there any human life on praetorian earth other than praetoria city?

Where was praetoria city physically located? I heard people say New Mexico, Texas, etc. but it never quite looked like that to me.

How were the malta troops level 54 in the Tin Mage taskforce when all the rest of the world were depowered by Tyrant?

We know that Cole had access to at a minimum two additional dimensions besides praetorian earth: Warrior world (battlemaiden's) and Shadow World (black swan's). Why didn't he take more and more alternate worlds or even abandon praetoria all together and migrate people to one of the dimensions without a hamidon? We bumped into several that were totally empty. Or, hell, just send Hamidon on a one-way trip to the world ruled by the psychic clockwork king and call it a day.

I'll give a second vote for the question about origins and add one more specific point to it: Was sister psyche really a mutant because she said that she didn't think she was and many of the other psychics were naturals (like the fortunata's). On a related issue, why have both the hero and villain natural representative in the origin of power arc be "powerless" instead of say a peacebringer or fortunata? What was behind that decision?

Was it true that once magic was the only origin but it had 5 aspects? If so what were the 5?

What's the deal with the unremovable crab/bane backpack and how is it controlled? Fused into the spine, neurological implants, fancy optical controls?

The requiem that nearly destroyed the entire universe by blowing holes into so many dimensions on werewolf world didn't appear to ever become an incarnate. In fact, he seemed to additionally lack any support from the rest of the nictus. What was his story and why did the well reject him but seem to back our primal requiem?

What exactly are television, radio, and HD (possessed machines, interdimensional beings, energy beings, aliens, what)? If HD is the praetorian television, is there a praetorian radio?

The nightward story had a lot of very cool lore about spirits and the afterworld. Was there an overlap with primal earth's afterworld or a primal equivalent?

Lady grey, like everyone else I want to know her real story. But one no one else asked yet, WHY didn't she want us to ask how she knew about the two incarnate paths, and obviously the related question how did she know?

Oddyseus was lately being played as a buffoon. My favorite example: he was surprised that nemesis outsmarted him when invited to an auction of magical items. Was he being written off as essentially the reason the warriors were never able to rise above mid-level? Were there any plans for Achilles to come back into the story, maybe with a redeemed block of warriors?

Where were you going with the super-powered pyriss character?

What's the deal with the clockwork in Cap au diablo? Why do they look the same as the ones from paragon city, how did they get there and why aren't they linked to the clockwork king?

What is the deal with the clockwork's ability to rebuild themselves? Is it the king doing it or are they truly eternally replicating and impossible to permanently destroy? Like are they all a hive mind, much like the praetorian version (metronome), or are they independent entities? Do they have souls in the City of Heroes sense (like could a clockwork prince or duke be sacrified by the circle of thorns and would it empower a demon)? That said, how do you permanently destroy a clockwork given their ability to self-repair and why don't the praetorian clockwork controlled by metronome have this ability (or do they and we just didn't see it)?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this!
  4. Quick update on this. There was originally a chat group created called "COH Refugees" for older CO veterans to help new COH people get a handle with the differences in the two games and have fun. It has been merged into "COX". So if you do go over and try out the game, join the chat channel "COX" (no invite needed just add it with the chat client) and there's a LOT of COH players.

While the game it self doesn't have a lot of teaming and doesn't even reward teaming as well as City simply because it needs the holy trinity to function whereas we can do anything with almost any team, that particular channel is very active and people are grouping up all the time, forming new SGs helping people into established SGs etc.

I only jumped into CO for a few hours yesterday but found the community very welcoming. The game isn't the same. Their devs are not nearly as communicative as ours and they do have a LOT of bugs. But their community is really stepping up and they deserve recognition for that. If you want a new home should all the efforts to save City fail, at a minimum there is one place where you will feel instantly welcomed. And in the end, community counts for a hell of a lot.
  5. You guys at Titan Sentinel are freakking awesome.

Also, anyone on a Mac, find a friend to loan you a computer so you can save your characters. Dagnabbit, we don't want to lose you if the game survives!

I'm not saying give a trusted friend who owns a PC your account info so they can log in for you. Technically. I'm saying borrow a PC and do it yourself.

Yes. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  6. I'll be back to Star Wars because it's where I know people.

But I'm still looking for anything else that is positive. I looked at Secret World, I don't want something that bleak and depressing all the time.

I'll be in the next Xcom when it launches. Hopefully something else worthwhile will come along.
  7. Add me to the list who wondered where you went. I didn't post too much except questions, but I did notice you missing. Really glad you got to work for Paragon, and thank you not only for the posts as a scrapper, but for everything you did as a redname making the game into the game I loved.
  8. BP,

I was on skype with a friend a little bit back when you assaulted Atlas Park on virtue with a ton of monsters and AVs. Including spawning lusca to attack the statue of Atlas. I wasn't able to get into the zone or I'd totally have been there too. But for a good 20 minutes it was all laughing and "OMG you won't believe what's happening now!" And now I have a picture of Atlas having a proctology exam from lusca as well.

I'll be taking that memory with me and I wasn't even there to see it in person. Just caught the laughter second hand.

Bless you, and thank you! Not just for that one day of laughter in this hour of need, but for everything all along. thank you!
  9. Melissa,

Thank you for everything. I agree with the poster who mentioned people saying they don't regret any spending on CoH. Even in game the only people sad about a purchase are the ones who can't buy i24 or are worried they won't remain VIP until the end, or will they get a refund, etc.

I dunno how much of a hand you had in the Nightward story where your namesake NPC got her body back, but that was epic.

Thank you for the game, thank you for everything you did that made it a setting we cared about, and just flat Thank you.
  10. Posi,

I said it in a few different ways, but I'll say it again here because you were one of the key people responsible for it: That you for not only making a game where we were really heroes, but a world that was worth saving. I've looked at many other games and played other games, but their setting either makes good out to be stupid and evil fun, or evil way more powerful than good, or in some other way glorifies evil. Or they have no heroes. Like Secret World (nuts who will exterminate a city to kill one evil being, chaos fanatics who cause suffering just because, or the illuminati who just want power for its own sake, those are your only choices) etc. We brought our kids and friends and family into paragon city. We cared about it. I honestly can't see any other product out there with such a background/setting.

    Thank you!
  11. Thank you for the writing. I can honestly say that I have been a big fan of the lore and the stories since I started playing and lately it had really just gotten way better. I always made a point to play through all the content slowly at least once so I could ready everything, even the NPC chatter.

    Thank you.
  12. the titan network tool has a way to pull your build off while you're logged in. then you can load it in Mids.

I've been screenshotting all of my characters costumes and getting their builds exported. Will upload them in a little museum in Deviant Art eventually. Maybe on my wordpress site too just to be safe.
  13. I've mostly gone by the handle khamya9 (WoW, Runescape, Deviant Art, random posts to web comics, etc), and I've never found it taken. So if you see someone using it, that's probably me.

Leo, since you're keeping a list I'm on DA and I'm Khamya9. No art of my own yet, but lots of comments to other people. But I'll be storing all my CoH screenies there soonish. If you didn't get him while it was obvious (he changed his username back in the great user name change flood a few months ago), David Nakamura is on DA too as pixelsaurus. And he responds to messages and comments there.

My gaming email is khamya9 at hotmail dot com.

My name is John. Take care all of you.
  14. Just adding my voice. I have a thank you to give to all of the devs that I don't think anyone else has said. I left WoW because it was fulof negativity, not just the community (but that was hostile too) but in the plot and story. All the races in the lore were eitehr evil or corrupt or current plots were about them falliing or being taken over. Runescape was a tyrrany overwhelming a corrupt kingdom frozen in time. Star Wars the emire is psychotically evil and the repubic is fallen and corrupt. But here, here in City of Heroes if I wanted to I could be a real hero, there were good guys. It was clean and it was positive.

I don't know any other game where I can have this experience. I will sorely miss it. And for giving me that opportunity for so many years, for writig so many great stories and fun mechanics and never slipping into the glorification of evil or negation goodness, I truly thank you. City was unique and great from a mechanical standpoint and you uys were totally unique from a community point, but for m there was this other side too. So thank you and bless you and I really hope youall find a good place to go next.
  15. Rock on Freitag. Best of luck finding another job in games. If you need 10,000 references as to how good a job you can do as a community specialist I'm sure that we'd all be glad to be those voices. =)

    Thanks for everthing.

    To all of you...

Thank you Zwil. Thanks for hosting in game events. Thanks for all the posts and jokes and the cool avatar. Thanks for trying out facebook and twitter even though they didn't work out so well, you tried to do the best and find work arounds.

    Bless you and thank you.
  17. I have been taken care of, thank you everyone who offered to help!
  18. Thing is, when you're losing money you don't shut down the ones that are doing ok. That's just bad managing.

Anyhow, I'll say my good byes in December when it really closes. Until then, I'll be in game, enjoying the best MMO I've ever found.

And I'll be really praying that it doesn't get turned off but rather goes into stasis mode like Ultima or DaOC or something.
  19. I'm looking to park a character with teleport in the blue room under Peregrine Island, but I've never managed to get the door trick on monkey island to work. Can someone meet me in game and help me out?

Handle is @gavin runeblade, the space magically appeared last winter. =)

if they halve the price and double as many people buy it, they at least stay at the same income level, but have twice as many happy customers. If less than double buy, then they've lost ground.

My point is not that I wouldn't buy ever, but at the prices they are charging, consumables aren't worth it. something consumable needs to be really, really cheap to compete with the buffs we can get in play anyhow.

I'm guessing that while I personally don't feel the set prices are low enough, if the devs are only complaining about the purchase rates on consumables, then it seems plenty of people do like the store bought sets. Which is fine by me, I'll buy mine for inf, they buy theirs for cash and we're both happy.

But if the devs solution to "not enough people are paying for this" is to find a way to trick people into buying... That's just silly. Lower the price some and see what happens. They've already paid for the development if the thing exists and is on the store, so any improvemnt is good at that point. I fully expect my price point for consumables is so low I'll never happen and I'm ok with that. I've been happily spending my points on costumes and permanent powers. But if they did somehow get cheap enough to be competitive with inf, the I might pick some up.

But I'd like to subscribe to the option that puts me above those marketing gimmicks and lets me buy what I want to buy when I want to buy it. Again, "moar points" is the last thing I want as a "perk" because "moar points" I can always buy. It'll cost me, but I can buy them at my terms.
To me, the first bit is purely a pricepoint issue. I'm sorry, but the consumables are ludicrous. I'd consider buying consumables if they were about 1/5 to 1/10th the price. And the store bought enhancements are laughable. When you compare them to the auction house prices, then look at how much real cash you're paying for inf... It almost makes gold farming seem worthwhile as a career choice. I think I have enough recipes in my group bins to buy a car at the rates the Devs charge. =) Adding ploys to make it happen is not the way to go. Markets operate on supply and demand. If people won't pay what you're charging you lower the price or add more quality or something. I mean, +damage for an hour? Seriously? If I want that I'll buy some red insps off a vendor or big ones off the market. So unless the price comes down to like 5 paragon points for a 30 minute boost, it's just never going to be something I buy.

And I agree, just giving more points isn't a satisfying solution. Instead, I do like the idea of things that are like the T-9 costumes: fun but don't give a numeric advantage. I think the true strength and what I love about our devs more than any other game is the interaction with them, how they do listen and do silly things like put Posi into a tuxedo over the armor and dance at a party. Capitalize on that with the VIPs. Have in-game VIP-only events. Add a VIP lounge to the game and have Devs actually hang out in there in character as NPCs or out of character as Devs. In game-meet and greets, etc. (probably requires a custom channel that only the devs can speak on to prevent drowning in chatter, and to not use the big-red-appears-in-all-channels-at-once admin speech) Things like those motivate me, much more than just a bonus to exp or inf earning. For me, the fun is in doing and being, not getting and having. To make my VIP experience better, focus less on "stuff" or "things" and more on "actions" and "experiences".

These aren't "tips", just the same missions with regular mish rewards. It's for story/arc only.

Add the Tipsters to Ouroboros and then any character can do the missions at each level so they can check out the story.
I would definitely use such a feature. There are several tips I enjoy quite a lot that I outlevel, and I'm pretty sure I've not done all of them at each level range. So it would be fun to see them in order.
  23. Virtue:
    Curbstomp Cutie (Stj/WP)
    Caustic Mirage (ill/rad)
  24. Looks like my tops are in the minority but a few have been mentioned:

If I had to give just one:
Lord Recluse, because the finale is not a gang of us vs one guy. It's one of the few where you can feel actually badass after fighting instead of feeling like a lieutenant or a minion who only curbstomped that AV because you ganged up on him.

Honorable mention to the Abandoned Sewer Trial. I love the coordination needed and the temp powers. Plus, again, you gotta split up and do multiple tasks, so you don't feel lame for having to gang up on one guy to win.

    Other good ones:
Eden Trial (frikin' gorgeous and I love getting the aggro from the whole of the last room)
Faathim the Kind (love the shard and this one is the best, plus the end fight is cool)
Silver Mantis (again, spectacular climactic battle, plus the whole TF is just screwing over the raiders just to be a jerk, which is really fun)
Posi Part 1 (love the doppleganger fight, don't like part 2)
Mender Silos (love the jade spider)
Mender Lazarus (love the big nazi bash)
Mako (again mondo awesome nazi bash)
