Not worth quibbling over but... I may agree with you on the alpha slot in I19 perhaps but you knew stuff like Judgment granted new upgradable AoE powers when?

I'm sure it's been considered, tested, and tweaked in beta.
It does seem crazy overpowered, which brings up the next question: what the heck will we be facing that needs nearly unlimited Damage and Endurance? But soloing Giant Monsters sounds like serious fun.

My fear is that it's going to end up like purple IOs -- hard to get single ones without farming, nearly impossible to get even a partial set. Since prices for purps are in the 150-300 million range, I'll never be able to afford even a single one in any reasonable time frame. Incarnate IOs will likely be an order of magnitude more difficult to acquire.

I guess it's time to finally give in and have one of my toons on Freedom start farming AE like crazy so I can earn enough Influence to afford this stuff. Two billion ought to be a good start to get a couple of them.

Alas, none of the Incarnate stuff was marketable (or tradeable) during its brief stint in the GR beta.

Apparently we'll all have to 'grind our own' rather than paying farmers to do it for us.

Oh yes. Me likey.
That's if the thing drops for you. Guaran-damn-tee you *will* spend a billion on a single Incarnate IO if they become available on the open market. I know that's what *I* would sell one for.

That seems like the only logical way to do it. The entire Incarnate system is wholly based on the lore of the game (gaining abilities that come from somewhere higher than the 5 Origins). No way they should they let us just buy into that kind of power.

I hope there's a guide for the alpaha slot before I19 comes out - all the excitement of this info release doesn't make it easy to think clearly

I wonder if with the level shift will it affect how you earn inf/prestige. If you are being treated as a 51 fighting a 53 boss, it might be a reduced reward compared to a 50 fighting a 53 boss. Either way, it sounds like a cool mechanic for the game.

I don't make a distinction between 'buying' it with inf earned by playing the game or 'buying' it with time spent grinding content for drops.

One of the things I like most about this game is the ability for time restricted players to get teh uber l3w7 without having to play the game as a full time job. I'm wary of new systems that seem eager to embrace standard MMO orthodoxy rather than the unique design path we've traditionally followed around here.

There is grinding, and grinding.
I'm hoping that these are not unobtainable by reasonable effort. They look too cool to ignore for several characters.
I like.

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

The only "grind" involved is if you're deperate to have the abilities as fast as possible - level 50s doing normal level 50 content at a normal pace will still get the Incarnate drops.

The Alpha Slot info page lists the following ways as some examples of how you can get components: LGTF, ITF, STF, RSF, and CoP. A logical assumption might be that preparing your character / supergroup to run high-level TFs and SFs would be a better use of your time than optimizing for AE grind; the devs probably chose the examples deliberately.

The fact that farming Inf would also be pointless as the Incarnate stuff is non-tradable might also have been one of the reasons too

At what rate, and how many will we need to do anything?

Level 50's doing normal level 50 content at a normal pace also get purple drops, but good luck kitting yourself out that way.

At least this whole thing should drastically increase purple supply- a nice consolation prize for time limited folk who won't be joining the Incarnate ranks any time soon.

That depends - if you need 3 bits of Incarnate salvage to craft an enhancement, then you can either run the 3 TFs you need to get the parts, or collect Incarnate Shards from normal 50 missions and craft the salvge from those - I think the conversion rate in the GR beta was 4 Shards for one bit of slavage - so that'd be 12 Shards to make the 3 bits of salvage you wanted for the enhancement.

That's one of the awesome thing about the Incarnate salvage drops - they're not random, they're tied to a suitable TF, so you can target exactly what you want, rather than having to rely on luck.

When the Alpha Slot was on GR Beta, it took me a good 3 days of "grinding" to gather up the 18 or so Shards I needed to make a Cardiac Radial (one of the Uncommon Boosts). And by grinding I mean a weekend of just soloing RWZ missions on my tank. (Running RWZ seemed best since I could get my Shard drops AND gather up the Vanguard Merits I needed to make the Griai'l Matter components)

The shards (at least in GR) dropped like normal salvage drops, a bit faster then Rares. The system is CERTAINLY casual-friendly.

Plus, just like all the other systems added to the game, the Incarnate system is totally optional, and won't affect the core game at all.

Not totally. You need it for Apex/Tin Mage.

My favorite part of the new information presented in this announcement is that the devs are using the general (primarily British, but also used by many non-lawyer Americans) spelling "judgement" rather than the legal spelling "judgment," which has always looked unprofessional to me.

Positron is Great High Overlord of the Endgame System - Issue-wise, he's way more likely to know how the endgame system is going to be handled than how a couple of emotes are going to be handled

Are you still going to be complaining about this ridiculously minor detail a year from now?
