Most Memorable Individual Missions - which ones stick out for you?

There are certain missions that always seem to stick out for me. Some of those are memorable because they just stood out as a fun or a good challenging mission or they might have been unique or cool in some way...others I remember because they were frustrating or because of some other "not good" reason.

Anyway what are some of the mission you remember the most?

If I had to list three that immediately come to mind I would say (and mine are all blue side)

1) Frostfire. Everyone loved this mission when it came out...the Hollows were always jammed with people...good times. good times.

2) Kill 10 CoT in Kings Row (you had to have been around a while to remember this one and the sheer frustration of hovering at rooftop level in KR waiting for some CoT to appear and then you try to hover over to that rooftop at the speed of a wounded turtle and tried to get there before the next guy who was hovering a short distance away doing the same thing you were doing)

3) Rescue the Fortune Teller mission. (Once upon a time having this mission with your low level toon and inviting higher levels would present the mission holder with the opportunity to have a thank you gift of 'gasp' 50,000 influence or so given to you by that higher level toon for inviting them because they had outleved that mission but still wanted to get the Atlas Medalion and of course Ouro did not exist yet)

Anyway I just thought i would ask and see what other folks have come to mind on this subject.

Cheers!

Along those same lines is the Atta mission. I remember people forming teams for that all the time. The funniest part is they didn't realize it was one of those missions that scales up toward the end, so when they walked in and saw -1 and -2 foes inside, they'd go up the difficulty and reset the mission to get Yellow Con.. then end up getting wiped out by the time they get to the boss room by purple foes. lol

1) Teamed with two friends, all of us still new to the game sometime in issue 4, our first large Oranbega map (itself rather memorable) looking into the "prison" room. The battle that ensued in the entry to the room seemed to go on and on and on and ... forever. Eventually the last CoT were defeated, the 3 of us somehow all still alive having apparently aggro'd and emptied the room while making our stand in the doorway.

2) My first character, a claws/sr scrapper, on an 8 man Eden Trial seeing the room holding the Crystal Titan the first time and the utter horde of DE in the place. WOW!

3) Hess TF, the final room ...

I am always partial to the Paragon Protector Prototype mish, bazillions of them mogging out and hitting unstoppable... good times.

All the trials, really.

The blind struggle in the Hollows trial to herd eight strangers into position to click the monoliths without a map -- and without falling into lava.

The astounding visuals of the Eden trial.

The long deadly descent down the catwalks on the Sewer Trial, trying not to fall or aggro too much.

Once upon a time the Terra Volta reactor trial felt tense as the waves escalated, although it's felt tame for a long time now.

Not a mission exactly, but I still go out of my way to run teh Freaklympics arc in level range of it. I did that before merits existed, and now that they do I get a good chunk of them for an arc I enjoy anyway, so it's a win/win.

Even though it's recent, the Hero Morality Mission versus Doc Quantum. Super cool.

The Hero Respec Mission in Terra Volta is mine. I played it when it was new and terrifying. Got my FF/Energy Defender invited onto a team that had failed it repeatedly and pretty much aced the thing thanks to being able to bubble the reactor core. This was pre-ED, pre-GDN bubbles, mind you, so that thing must have had three digit +Def.

I don't think my bubbler had gotten more thank yous and respect than that single mission. It was glorious. Since then, it's been a personal favorite of mine, running it even when I didn't need a respec, just because I could.

Got to agree with Rubber_Dog about Frostfire. The first time you do the mission is probably the first time you see a cut-scene. I remember rattling the keyboard, trying to fire off my powers as Frosty monologued before realising what was going on.

A few months ago my brother and I did Frostfire with a ff/energy defender (an "offender", specced for soloing) and an energy/energy blaster. This is pairing we play mainly for fun and we tend get defeated hard and often.

We stumbled our way through to the final room, each being defeated at least once on the way. As usual, we picked off the spawns in the corners, near the doors, leaving us with just the central group.

Sizing up Frosty and his group, things didn't look for us, especially when you factored in the as yet unsummoned pets.

Since we were playing for "fun" we decided to take all the insps we had remaining and hit Frosty hard and fast. If, as we fully expected, we were both quickly dispatched to hospital then we could come back with a better balanced duo and do things properly.

What followed was absolute chaos. We both went in,all guns blazing, leading with the group knockbacks. All I can clearly recall is a mess of fire, ice and Outcasts seemingly whizzing in all directions. Frosty ended up pinned against the back wall, unable to keep his feet for long enough to cause any serious problems.

When the dust settled we had actually completed the mission. It had not been as easy or well organised as some other our other character'' triumphs against Frostfire but it had certainly been more fun.

I never get tired of Frostfire.

Or the Eden Trial.

Also the first time I ran...
final mission of the Wheel of Destruction. Huge and a timer to boot! It didn't occur to us back then that we could simply fly around to the objectives... we fought our way through the whole thing defeating the final boss with 5 minutes to spare.

final mission vs the Envoy of Shadows. Epic fight!

the TV Respec. The absolutely toughest thing I've ever tried and failed... we were so young and dumb back then.

the final mission of the Tarikoss SF. Map was... wow... I still enjoy that mission.

the final mission of the Mender Lazarus TF... I don't actually remember much about the mission except for that final room. Epic.

The finale to Scirocco's 2nd arc is my favorite. That map is very well done and, unlike other "cool" maps (like Freaklympics), it's not reused so it's still fresh every time I do it.

A close second is a simple talk-to mission, where you show Lord Recluse his helmet, after you defeat his future version.

The first time I ever did the villain Cape Mission; I really did feel super in that one.

The single most memorable mission has to be my first Frostfire mish.

We started out as a team of 8, but most were several levels below us, and by the halfway point we were down to me and 2 others (those two went on to become my first in-game friends, having shared this experience). We continued on, just the three of us, tank, blaster, controller, none of us were over level 10. My blaster had died a few times, the tank once, the troller about 3 times or so. Then came the Frostfire room.

Now remember, we started with 8, and the mission still thought we should have 8. I am positive we died enough for a team of 8. I learned much about the scenery from the Hollows hospital to the mish site, probably spent more time sprinting to the mish than I did in the mish.

We died a lot. And then we died some more. I actually started to have a sense of dread when I would see Jack Frost start my way... We finally tried some strategy, coming up with things like "pulling" - yes we were SO green! One by one they'd go down. Eventually the controller had to leave, so the tank and I slogged through, when we died, we'd get more inspirations. Finally, after over an hour, we finally cleared the room, and ended the mish. We did the toon equivalent of falling down, totally exhausted, and laughed about how INSANELY hard that was.

I avoided that mission on my controller, and when I finally played it again, I was a MA scrapper. It seemed so easy when you had the right sized team!

Another strong memory for me was the first time I saw the Crystal Titan surrounded by all those DE in that large room.

And the Kronos Class Titan ambush. We were all sitting around chatting after the mission, when our squishies all suddenly died. Talk about an introduction!

And my first Anniversary Celebration with what must have been 50 or more Kronos Class Titans in Atlas Park. I leveled that toon a few times during the onslaught.

Hmmm the first Rikti Raid, the first Zombie Apocalypse, yeah, nothing like your first time!

"Oh, Wretched Man!", i.e., Seer Marino's Ghost Widow backstory arc. I do it every single time I start up a new villain character. The story is just awesome, with all the backstabbing, you literally being sentenced to death by the Arbiters, (although there's no real in game effect, I'd love to see an ambush or something) and the touching scenes of Paolo struggling to stay alive on waste, and Vetrano's spirit unable to move on because of her desire to comfort him.

Plus, there's just the dialog, Wretch going on about, "Wretch smash bad 'Rachnos!", and Ghost Widow's smug line to Ohanko, "But your end is coming soon; and it's name is <character>!"

"The Sky Raider Secret", 20-24 hero side mission. I first ran it on my Tanker, Blue Diamond, and it's one of the most vivid memories I have of the early game. It's also a backstory arc, explaining how the special unit Vigilance became the Sky Raiders, when Colonel Duray commandiered the unit's weapons and soldiers to fight against supers when he felt betrayed by them during the Rikti War.

You first save a general, then a politician who keeps wandering back into trouble. They and a hero, Captain Indomitable, were involved with Vigilance. You eventually get a mission to go and rescue Captain Indomitable himself, and I was expecting to get to meet another hero there and maybe even get to fight beside him. When I found his body and realized I was too late it really hit me. I literally screamed, "You're going to pay!" when I attacked the Boss at the end. Talk about getting into character.

"The Cult of the Shaper", Diviner Maros. While I hate Calystix with a passion (I have trouble with him with all my villains, but especially MMs) the room with the Leviathan in it gives me the willies every time I see it.

As for Frostfire, well honestly he bores me. Although I enjoy beating him up in the Vigilante Morality Mission.

Fav - STF with my old Triumph group of friends. All of whom have left the game

Next, I would have to say Freak Olympics.

3rd, any of the Respec Trials.

All of the above have given me some awesome memories of playing with a group of people that really meant a lot to me, and I miss them everyday that I play. Sometimes, RL issues suck, but the memories left behind are just awesome!

There's a low-level mission that's not tied to any story arc; it's just a stand-alone mission. Your contact tells you about his friend who is in a wheelchair because he was injured in the Rikti war. The clockwork have stolen his trophy. I think it's a swimming trophy, but it may be for running.

The trophy is all this poor guy has left from who he was before the war. Your contact is asking you to go get it back as a personal favor.

I really enjoy the mission because it's just a simple human story with no world-saving or plot-thwarting. It's nice to imagine a city full of people you can help on a personal level.

Every patrol, rescue/kidnap and hunt mission - I'll never forget how much I hate their unending repeatedness

As far as good memories go, the Cavern of Transcendence trial was very memorable for me. The first time I ever did it I had no clue what it was, I thought it was just a regular mission we had a good team, and a good leader who took the time to direct/explain what we needed to do to finish it, however we ran into some troubles (accidental aggro and such) while trying to stealth the obelisks and never made it past that room.

I vowed I would run that trial again one day and conquer it... I ended up forming a team some time later and did just that. When the GM came out the huge door I was blown away... it was the first time I'd ever seen one, and it was awesome when we mashed his face in and completed the trial. If I recall correctly, we had 59 minutes left on the clock.

Unfortunately I haven't run it again since, but one of these days I think I'll give it another go... maybe this time I'll try to clear everything instead of skipping through and stealthing

I've got quite a few.

The stop 30 Fir Bolg from escaping in Croatoa is always fun when solo.
Likewise with the stop the ceremony one.

I really like the Marshall Brass Arc

The new Doc Quantum Tip Mission
The new future self villain alignment mission.

Blowing up the subs is still fun!

I loved that mission the first few times I did it. Now I am getting an enduring and lasting haterd of it from repetition. I need to grind my teeth as I repeat it yet again, clicking as fast as i can through the long now tedious speechs broken up by sentence. Any joy is getting sucked out as i wish there was more than one villian moralty mission.

I'm glad you still enjoy it though

My fav is the villian double mission

Nice one!

I will say that not only did I love Frostfire's mission, but my very first hero tip was the malta ambushes where you get Frostfire as an ally. After realizing I wasn't supposed to fight Frostie, and got to be on his team kicking malta @$$ I had a grin so wide it literally hurt after a bit.

The most memorable ever though was my first Lady Grey when I saw the honoree. I got a sick feeling in my stomach and I really hate Hro'Dtoz ever since.

After reading the letters from the time capsule, doing Dean McArthur's first arc is really hard. My villains have no problem with it, but me the player, yech. Also it kinda makes no sense because if he was vulnerable to psionics you'd figure the Rikti would have owned him. =)

Mender Lazarus' taskforce the climactic battle. As was said in another thread by someone better with words, if you can't enjoy yourself while surrounded by hundreds of Nazis and fighting three arch villains at once your dead to the world.

My first trip to the shadow shard. Just Wow.

There is a two part one of mission given out by Dr Shelly Percey where you get bonded with a Nictus gaining some temp Nictus powers. I always enjoy playing that mission.

The whole of the Faultline Arcs are great fun and always love running those. Particularly like the Arbiter Sands one in the Agent G arc.

The Television missions are great fun because the mission text is funny
