I hate what super boosters have done to the community
While I agree somewhat, I also realize that what I am paying is a pittance per hour and I have no real issue supporting the development pace that they are on. Besides, you don't have to get the packs which is one of the best ways that I can influence what they do or don't do in the future. So pack or no, they have yet to ask for so much money that I am looking elsewhere.
Sometimes ideas people have may be good ideas, but aren't in the direction where the Development team wants to allocate resources. By framing the suggestion in the form of a Booster, it provides incentive to the Development team to give the idea a second look. Presumably, some things are issue material and others are Booster material, though that's supposition on my part.

Some of the boosters are worth while. The Ninja pack is a must have.
I wouldn't be surprised if they make more 'must have ' boosters. So you're forced to buy it on top of your sub. In fact I'm surprised they didn't make inherent stamina into a super booster.

"Sorry bucko, but CoH and CoV are the same game." -BackAlleyBrawler
"Silly villain, CoX is for Heroes!" -Saicho
Look, the idea Kasoh provides certainly isn't new- and it's been bandied about by devs both here and elsewhere. Heck, the idea's been around so long that I wouldn't think it required much thought at all to people that try to stay informed in the industry.
If the project doesn't have the breadth of appeal necessary to justify getting it on the development schedule, but it would be appealing enough to a small segment of the population to reasonably pay for itself, why not do it and charge? They're essentially saying "I like this idea enough to pay extra for it."
( Of course, you have to take their claims with a grain of salt. I've heard time and again that the desire for more dance emotes was so great that "I'd pay for new dances." The devs come out with a pack of 2 dances plus a few others, and suddenly people scream bloody murder. )
The OP is wrong, but that doesn't mean people that think so are defending the Devs.
We've gotten more content because of the existence of booster packs, not in spite of them, and more often. The great part about them is if you don't want it, you don't have to pay for it, and if you do want it, there's no unlocking costumes with badges, there's no unreasonable level-locked temp powers...none of that.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
I don't have the mac/valkyrie pack nor the dance pack. I'm glad I've purchased the others. I hope that the devs lost money on the dance pack so that they don't pull that crap again.
I don't like that only those who bought the science pack can change their height/gender.
I dig exploding. I dig ninja run.
I'm fine with booster packs. Another 10 bucks on top of the nearly $200 I spend a year on sub fees isn't a big deal to me. If it was, I wouldn't have spent it.
Be well, people of CoH.
Doesn't bother me. My only real concern is that free items will stop making it into the game.
I think most people feel their suggestions have a better chance of making it into a booster than free into the game.
Me, I have all of the boosters. I teetered on the Dance pack, but when it hit, I had some extra cash.

The only thing free in life is sunshine and air.
My OP is about how I hate that people now are entirely too eager to suggest things be booster packs. That's an opinion.

Sure I'd love to have everything like this given to me for free.
But the people who run this game run it as a business, not a charity.
If they want to charge a few extra bucks for giving me extra content it's incredibly hard to claim that isn't fair.
We've been spoiled into getting lots of new features for free over the years.
But nothing in the $15/month we pay for subscriptions REQUIRES the Devs to give us anything extra for free and never did. *shrugs*

Recent content seems to suggest this is now less likely the case than it was before, but as long as we have a Vanguard set which costs 1000 Merits, Rularuu weapons which require 100 level 40+ Overseers which always spawn in groups of twos and threes, Nictus Romulus items which require doing the ITF twice on the same character and Rikti weapons which can only be unlcoked in rare, annoying, lag-infested events, I choose to disbelief that anything has changed in a meaningful way.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Your OP opinion is also based on an observation that is not backed by any supplied empirical data. (that peoples suggestion process has more eagerly volunteered the idea of packaging it in a booster). As no actual numbers are supplied showing that there IS a marked increase in people volunteering to part with their money, there is a chance that your opinion is based on an incorrect perception. You're still entitled to that opinion, but it could still be a WRONG condition under those observations.
After all, I can recall many suggestions made BEFORE booster packs where people suggested they'd "pay more" for X. X could have been a PvP setup, an enforced RP server, more dance emotes, powerset customization, etc. It was a frequently-used expression. Post-booster-pack, people are just using that term to explain it. We could take a sample of suggestions before and after the intriduction of such packs to get a feel of whether this expression of "paying for extra" has increased, and whether the increase correlates with the introduction of boosters, to determine the true validity of your assertion....
Sure, you could argue that the burden is on everyone else to PROVE you are wrong, but usually the burden of proof is on the person suggesting that things have changed in some way.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
It seems like whenever someone comes up with an idea they like, if not them then someone who agrees with them will go, "Yeah! It could be a super booster!"
No! Why are people so damn eager to get rid of their money?
