Issue 19 is WIN, but no proliferation?
You got Electric Dominators already. Want more so soon?

They don't do Illusion domination because Illusion doesn't fit with the domination sets. Do I really need to go back and pull out my page long dissertations on this subject? Sometimes bad ideas are just bad ideas and need to be left at that: Bad. Ideas.
Ha, what is already there is good enough that I didn't notice the lack of proliferation until this thread pointed it out.

It's an overview, not patch notes. There may be (probably is) stuff in it that wasn't listed. That may or may not include new proliferation.

At any rate the devs have already said that if/when illusion is ported it will go to doms and that the port is a likely occurrence.
The sooner it occurs the sooner we can add another thing to the list of things that you had no clue about, but decided to state with absolute authority on the subject.

Now, EG thinks they might work out to well, and you think they wouldn't work at all. Either way, people would make them (more people would if they're extremely good, while less would if they were terrible).
Personally, I don't see the bad in Illusion Control being ported over from an RP standpoint, so I'm okay with it!
From a mechanical standpoint, eh...i bet it would work out just fine. And might see more use out of flash.

*Reworked* it would be just fine.
Problem is that reworking a set is almost as much work as just coming up with a brand new one.

Dominators get control sets and Illusion Control is a control set therefore they should get it.
And if your argument stems from "The set doesn't benefit from Domination" well, the set doesn't benefit or facilitate Containment either.

Lol, Dominators don't get Domination sets...those are for the support ATs like Corruptors and Defenders.

However, as it stands now illusion controllers have 3 powers which would benefit from Domination (Flash, Blind, Deceive) which would kind of suck.
However a power rework could make up the difference by increasing the damage of their pets, or lowering their recharge timers. Or even granting Phantom Army Punch-Voke.
Straight Port from Controller to Dominator: Bad idea.
Slight modification and port from Controller to Dominator: Good idea.

It may not benefit as much from Domination as other sets, but it will have a few powers that do, or other tricks to not feel the need for it.
if I made an Illusion Control/Fire Assault Dom, I may get Domination less of the time, or not as quickly built up as others, but I will get it, and I have PA to cover me while I don't.
And seeing as how Perma Dom is usually sought after, as is perma PA, going for Perma PA would lead to Perma Domination...which means, one you had Domination, good to go with pets who tank for your dom!
Hmmm...wonder if that's why they don't do it. >_> eh, I have no idea why they havent.

Let's not forget Elec Control either
Jolting Chain
Conductive Aura
Static Field
Synaptic Overload
Gremlins
all get no benefit from Domination
Since we have a 9 power spread I think it's safe to say that 5 powers counts as half
so Half of Elec Control gets no benefit from Domination.
oh look Illusion Control has 6 powers that wouldn't benefit.
not seeing a big deal here in comparison to Elecs 5
Containment was developed -after- the Illusion Control set came out. And it does benefit from the bonus, since your pets dish out double damage to held/sleeping/stunned/immobed targets. Further, Overpower was added in still later.

Earth Control: 6/3
Electric Control: 5/4
Fire Control: 5/4
Gravity Control: 5/4
Ice Control: 5/4
Illusion Control: 3/6
Mind Control: 8/1
Plant Control: 6/3
All totaled, we get 43 which gain benefit from Domination and 29 which don't.
Illusion control would be the one with the least benefit from the AT's inherent ability. There's no way to get around that. With that penalty, a bonus -should- be created for Illusion Control.
I don't think it -shouldn't- get proliferated. But I do think it should be buffed to make up for the lack of benefit while Domination is up. Perhaps find some way to make Domination buff the Illusion pets or something? Or just give them a straight up benefit.

Earth has 5 two of which are immobs that really don't need domination to do anything that they can do with domination.
Elec has 5, but 4 actually because domination doesn't jump with synaptic. Again the immobs really don't need domination so 2
Fire has 5, two of which are again immobs, so 3 really.
Grav has 5, two of which are immobs
Ice has 5, two of which are immobs
So unless ones argument is that illusion's lack of immobs is so detrimental to dominators that the set would be drastically underpowered and cease to function for the AT then there is no leg to stand on in saying that illusion would not work for doms.
In actuality arguing against the lack of immobs is far more detrimental to controllers as it is such a readily available source of aoe containment, which illusion lacks.
What illusion does have is the ability to perform well regardless of domination (or containment). That is actually a huge boon to the set considering no where near the majority of players run anything remotely near perma-domination.
The baseline performance is terrific (just like the other pseudo-pet heavy sets). It can be surpassed in raw control by sets that gain more from domination and subsequently high recharge. However, illusion gains its own huge benefits from additional recharge. Yes a high recharge ill dom wouldn't have the aoe spawn lockdown ability of a domination powered stalagmites, but it would be hands down the strongest dom at handling difficult enemies and would also be the highest (or second highest) damage option available.
*takes the fiver Reichsman slips to him*
I personally would like to see a bit more portage with Illusion to MMs. I know that will be awhile of course.
On the flip side, how could you take Zombies or Demons and give them to Controllers/DOminators?
You had it coming. Where's mah Illusion Dominators?
