No Ordinary Family premier

I watched it and really kinda dug it. Heroes had a different vibe in that from day one it was about a specific event and how the characters all related into that event. This one starts off alot more open. We see the powers, in a short time frame they did an effective job of setting up the characters and motivations.

I think its intresting to a point that whatever the goo was that gave them powers did so in such a way as to something that they would have found of value or lacking in their lives. The wife was the busy body and needed more time and got faster, the daughter was typical girl trying to fit in and ride the social scene and got the ability to read minds. The son was suffering from a learning disability and im sure being the son of a brainy mother probably wanted to be smarter and make her proud and he becomes a brainiac. The dad is suffering from tpyical male issues these days with feeling out of sorts. He feels inferior to his wife who is obviously supporting the family, feels out of touch with his children and wonders what happened to all the happy times. As such he gets the biggest range of powers that makes him sorta a superman.

I like the fact that they from the start have put limits on the powers. We know the dad is not 100 percent invincable so we dont have to worry about superman type issues. And i like the idea that they have already set up kinda a plot line with the wifes job kinda having something to do or knowing about those with powers.

i think if they can walk the right line between the family drama and the superhero plots it will work well, kinda like an incredibles vibe is what i think they were going for. Be intresting to see if they can make it happen or if we get boiled down into issues of virginity and such that were hinted at and it just becomes a mess.

didn't see it yet, but as far as dad's headshot bleeding but not the palm...

The skin on your palms is just about the thickest your skin gets, and has more give behind it when compared to head skin. So along with theories about how his power works, there's that bit of basic human anatomy...plus, even little head wounds bleed a hell of a lot

Or find someone that can't have their mind read. That was the premise of an episode in Dark Angel. The freak of the week could read minds, but chose this unattractive guy because there always needs to be a bit of mystery in the romance or else it gets boring or annoying.

I'm guessing by the size of this thread I need to watch this show two days ago.

Notice that people like P names family names

The Incredibles were named "Parr" as a play on words: par, or average.

I suspect Powell is employed similarly because of the associations with "powers" and "pow."

But it's opposite of Glee, which is why Hulu was invented since both shows are available on it.

You have to say his name three times to get him to appear.

Watch. Hickman. Hickman. Hickman.

True Story: I haven't had an interest in "first showings" of shows since I found out about Hulu. Doubly so after Netflix.

Funny story: I watched about half of the latest season of Warehouse 13 on Hulu because the people behind the show won't let Hulu show an episode until 8 days after it first airs, presumably because airs again right before the next episode. So I missed an episode, couldn't watch the repeat, and didn't want to watch the next episode until I'd seen the episode I missed. Since I couldn't see the missed episode on Hulu until after the next episode had aired, that meant I'd miss the next episode which, again, I couldn't see on Hulu until after the episode after that had aired making me miss that as well.

I presume they were trying to force people to catch the repeat airing but by making me wait a week and a day to see a missed episode on Hulu they instead wound up forcing me to watch the rest of the season on Hulu instead of Syfy.

Haven't watched it yet, as I had to record (and therefore watch) Glee. I hope they move one of these @#$% shows.

Troy Hickman - So proud to have contributed to and played in this wonderful CoH universe

That's scary Troy...

Do you have some magical pants that alert you when your name is invoked? Or do you just search for yourself?
Maybe it's even more supernatural and it operates on the Candy Man principal. Forcing your appearance reagardless of your own desire.

Anyways, yes this show has lots of promise. More than the new season of Glee in my opinion. At least so far. I hate when shows go into a sophmore season by forgetting key elements the characters already learned...

I just watched it on Hulu. Was a nice start. Good see another super human based show after heroes had been laid to rest. Hopefully this one has a much better run as the pilot was promising so far.

So, we have "Heroes" with a smaller more focused cast and storyline?

Just watched it, and I'm very happy to know of this.

Trying to take down those two would have been suicide in normal situations; then they added that opening night was one of Glee's most anticipated episodes (even if I hated it).

I hope they move this to a better time. I'm very excited for it.

Yeah, I caught it on Hulu as well.

I also think the fluorescent water is a red herring too. Woman develops powers, and it's revealed that her boss is secretly involved with other super-powered people. That can't be coincidence.

I must have missed the part where her boss is involved with superpowered people.
Makes the whole business trip seem as if it was set up from the start.

Only problem with that is the actual plane trip they took that crashed wasn't part of the company trip.

It was a small tourist excursion the father was forcing them to take to get them out of the hotel room. Granted the company could have replaced the pilot and altered the course....

I had to rewatch it as I missed that it was her boss at the end.

Very true.

I'm not to sure the water giving them powers even if it was hinted cause then the pilot shoulda got powers too instead of dying in the crash.
