...and thanks for all the fish!

It's been a fun ride, but I'll be heading my way towards another horizon. The split is completely amicable, and I am a satisfied customer. If you had asked me back in 2002 if there was any game I could imagine myself actively playing for 5 years straight I would have said that you were crazy, but here we are.

I see City of Heroes as a property that will stand the test of time. If you were to release the game TODAY for the first time with the features that exist in the game today, I would call it a "WoW Killer" with no hesitation.

It was just in the last year that I stopped playing daily, to take one of my normal breaks and come back to the game refreshed. But every time I tried to come back, I saw something else draw my gaze instead. Recently what has drawn my gaze was a shiny thing called a lady - who may very well be the love of my life. It's an indescribable feeling, but at the same time it severely limits my "alone time".*

So I'd like to thank the developers and the community of this game for giving me 5 years of solid entertainment. Specifically, here are a few memories/thanks that I have:

• The City Scoop for giving me a chance to be a semi-celebrity for about 15 minutes.
• KJSR.NET for letting me test out my voice and become a semi-celebrity again for another 15 minutes. I still remember the good times I had trying to find some of those strange and rare request songs!
• The Repeat Offenders coalition. Even though you booted me, I still appreciate your message of open-mindedness towards playstyles and the amazing things you were able to accomplish.
• War Witch, Positron, CASTLE, and all the other developers of the game that have spent over 6 years of their lives providing me with top notch entertainment that cannot be matched. I can see the blood, sweat and tears that went into this venture. Your little baby is all grown up!
• The nuts over at Unleashed, who are still cursed with having to put up with my odd manner of interacting with people day after day.
• Finally, a hearty thank you to the hundreds and thousands of active posters on the City of Heroes forums. While we haven't always all seen eye to eye and sometimes even been in opposition to each other, there is no other group of internet denizens that I would more proudly call "extended family that I WANT to visit during the holidays". This is still the greatest community on the net, bar none.
