    Opps..

I canceled it and re-bid for 18 million yesterday evening. Today it is mine. (Yes! I win the internet!)

If you take an item which sells for wildly fluctuating prices, and sometimes there's no supply within a factor of ten of the "normal" price, and add a couple of flippers who do nothing at all but place tons of bids at lowish prices, and list at highish prices, within a couple of weeks the item has a stable supply at a price somewhere between the low and high end of the previous range.

That this should happen is pretty much obvious.

Most salvage, if I'm gonna sell it, I'm gonna sell it by listing at 1inf and not even looking. But wait! Most of the time, I get under 1k inf. Or even under 250. Which means I'd be better off vendoring... So a vendoring I go.

Now, what happens if that flipper is there, consistently bidding more than the vendor will pay me? Why, I always sell the item at the marketplace, because I'm guaranteed to get at least that good a price -- better if anyone's bidding at higher values.

Meaning more of the item in question go on the market to begin with.

Seriously, this is very basic economics. Flippers, in general, stabilize prices by driving the high end down and the low end up. They make it easier to buy things for predictable prices. Now, those prices may not be as low as you'd like -- but in the absence of a flipper, either you'd be paying more or you'd be waiting a longer time for your bids to fill. Or both.
Ok...I can buy some of that. Were flippers making Nevermelting Ice worth selling recently?

It's the higher end stuff that I would rather the flippers stay away from. Salvage is no problem for me. Seeing a purple recipe skyrocket over a couple hours from 25 million to 200 million doesn't endear them to me.

Well...I'm not expecting miracles, just the natural price from supply and demand. I still don't get your assertion that the supply comes from flippers. Seems to me it would be there without them...just cheaper.

(myself included) Ill pay 20mil instead of 10mil just to avoid having to buy salvage, run to base to find out 1 recipe had the same piece as another and back to the market, lol.

Jeet, you dont have to pay more. Buy the recipes and not the crafted. Youll save a ton. If you dont believe me, look at some recipes that you want compared to the crafted forms. Most of the time, it's 50% less or more. Is the markup redidculous? Most of the time, yes. But if you don't like it, buy the recipes.
Oh I'm super cheap. I'll go out of my way to avoid buying something if I suspect a flipper is involved. (AE salvage ftw!) I can wait too...I'm patient.

No flipper, the item sells for less to me or without having to wait for the real price. Is that inaccurate?
  8. Bid 25 million for an item yesterday. Checked today and the last 5 sales (all today) were 18, 20, 21, 22, and 22 million.

    O...kay? I've heard of lag...but that's ridiculous.
  9. ?

Flippers causing me to pay more than I would have or wait longer to get the item is a benefit? Never going to understand that one.

    Thanks?
  10. I consider it a big win. I used to waste it on people all the time. Now I can only give it to people that don't have it already. The stacking thing was a secondary concern to me.

Awesome! My (older) version of Word was slightly different but I figured it out. Thanks!
  12. I copy and pasted directly from my "CoH stuff" doc I keep...so those curly quotes must be the problem. I have no idea where they came from though. It's the "arial" font in the word doc...could that be the problem?

Just tried it again after retyping the quotes....it worked. Thanks guys! That's a new one to me. I got that bind from this board a while back...I must have converted those quotes somehow.

edit: I had to retype the quotes in-game after trying a couple different fonts in the doc...they are "wrong" for some reason. (I made a note lol)

    That's what I used before.

But my plan was to dedicate those slots (#6, #7) to the travel power pairs like SJ/CJ and Fly/Hover. That way it works no matter what travel power I take and can just be a part of the saved keybinds for every new character.

    Thanks Claws.
  14. Hey guys, I like to put my travel powers in the 6th slot on the 4th power tray. I got a bind for that slot here on the forum and I swear it used to work:

    /bind 1 “powexec_tray 6 4”

It isn't working now...I'm thinking I changed something without realizing it. Any obvious errors there?
  15. It worked. I moved the trays and one click put them right back in order.

I'm adding that bind to my little "CoH stuff" folder in My Documents.

Every time you click the mouse, your trays will reset to positions 1 2 3. If you mis-click, just click anywhere else on the screen to reset it again.
    That sounds awesome! Thanks Master!

I'm going to try that today. I'll try to remember to come back and post my result.

But there IS a workaround. Give me a minute to screenshot this.

On the right hand side of your power bar tray is a little plus. You can use these to create new child power bars.

Create 3 new power bars (or 2, or 1) to mimic your current tray:

Now, go up to Menu, and turn TRAY off.

Your screen should now look like this:

You should be unable to change power trays with clicks, although the power bars are still draggable.
This was an exciting idea...but I just tried it and it didn't work for me.

It turned off the first 3 and left the new ones...but they still had the little bothersome arrow hanging there for me to accidentally hit if I'm in a hurry.

I too would love to have the option to "lock" them. I normally put my most used powers in the keys around me left hand...but a lvl 50 toon has a LOT of powers...plus temps, vets, accolades, etc. I need a hand on the mouse for looking around/up/down quickly...so I can't use the entire keyboard. I just keep putting rarely clicked powers (or leaving them empty) in those #1 slots unless there is a better way.

That's good info. Wish I'd known this before.

so all my builds will need massive reworking and prolly reslotting ALL my powers to try and find some slots to make use of some of these new powers i'll have...
Unless I have this wrong, aren't we talking about needing two slots total for the fitness pool? (assuming you want to 3 slot Stamina) That should be doable with frankenslotting.

Or maybe we'll be able to get more slots one of these days....

Holy smokes! You are awesome! 4/8 is "very easy" for you?

I have a couple of toons that could survive it....but "very easy"? I would say that most of my toons could not come close to competing. That's not a setting I use. Kinda cool in my eyes since that means I haven't topped out or anything. I can still make the game harder if I want.

You're not a bad player. The main calling card of this game was always "fast-paced". And it's obvious that most of the player subscribe to that style of play. I actually stood at the Ouro portal once for 15 minutes and checked toons as they went through to see how many had Stamina. It was something like 99.9%. There is a reason for that. Hardly sounds like "something you don't need", does it? Without Stamina you'll be left behind. For solo toons it could work though.

Same. I even do the kneel emote.
  23. As a believer in options, I don't have a problem with the OP's complaint. The ability to opt out of something you don't want, for whatever reason, seems ok to me.
