Locking Power Trays(Not Powers!)
As far as I am aware... no. I don't think the tray switching can be locked... normally.
But there IS a workaround. Give me a minute to screenshot this.
On the right hand side of your power bar tray is a little plus. You can use these to create new child power bars.
Create 3 new power bars (or 2, or 1) to mimic your current tray:
Now, go up to Menu, and turn TRAY off.
Your screen should now look like this:
You should be unable to change power trays with clicks, although the power bars are still draggable.
Hi,
great answer, we actually did all this but not the last step of turning trays off
With them on and the "children trays" open you can still hit the arrows.
I have the players global so I will e-mail them this workaround asap. You have given them a game changing boost
On their behalf I say thank you very much.

I have a thing I do.
/bind w "+forward$$gototray 1$$gotoalttray1 2$$gotoalttray2 3"
Every time I move forward, my trays reset.
Where to now?

(That said, I know I've been asking for the same thing as the OP for years.)

You could also move your trays to the left side of the screen (and chat to the right side) and move your clicky powers to the 4-0 slots. That way the powers will be further away from the arrows

I ask, because I was just on a team with a Tank that kept faceplanting, but otherwise was a good player! The owner explained that they had minor co-ordination/sight problems and in the heat of battle sometimes hit the right side arrow instead of power number one in that tray. |

You can activate the powers in the first tray with the numeric keys across the top of the keyboard (not the numeric keypad). And trust me, it's not an insult to point out something like this that "everybody knows". I've encountered players who did NOT know they could use the keyboard for their powers and it dramatically increased their efficiency and enjoyment of the game.

hmm.... Wouldn't it be better to use the keyboard to activate the powers instead of the mouse? In many fights, I don't need to use the mouse at all and I could play with my eyes closed (knowing how to touch type helps).

You think Pinnaclites are such lightweights that drinking impairs our ability to play?
Maybe on one of them foofoo Boone's Farm servers you'll have that happen, but not here!
On the OP: I skipped that problem entirely. I use the number keys to activate my powers. 1-0 is tray 1, Alt+1-0 is tray 2. I keep powers I seldom use in tray 3 where I'm unlikely to hit them by accident, I click those manually, since they are all powers that my survival does not depend on (various teleport powers, Rest, etc.)

It was such a problem for me long ago that I had to figure out a work around.
The way I do it is to have tray 2 and 9 be set up identical to tray 1, that way if I happen to hit the arrow I still have the same setup!
I use tray 4 for my top tray and setup 3 and 5 likewise.
It's saved my bacon more times than I can recall.

That's one way I always manage it (along with hitting the Windows key. Stupid thing)

And I tried je saist's suggestion. Won't work for me BECAUSE I'm keyboarding. The keypresses STILL affect the main tray. What's worse, it's possible to flip a tray and since it's hidden, not know.
It's still possible to flip the trays with the keyboard. I primarily use the keyboard since it's faster than mousing, and I still have problems occasionally bumping the tray back to 9 because I go to hit 0 and accidentally hit the - key (which rolls the tray).

To get rid of auto-run: /bind r nop
To get it back: /unbind r

If you never use that feature intentionally, remove it. You can reassign any key to do nothing (or reset it to default).

Memphis Bill:
I totally don't understand what's going on there. I've never had that problem and it's hard to think there is a magic bubble following you screwing up your CoH game. Have you always used the same computer? Do you have macros on your mouse that the blue hand could be messing with? Do you load the same binds on every account?
My new gripe:
What's the deal with my G11 keyboard not being able to activate the Tray 1, but will go to Alt [Tray 2] and activate those. My Tray 2, or alt, is bound to my numpad, but it still functions correctly. The closest I've come to thinking I fixed it is cycling the Tray 1 around some and then coming back. It's not set to Tray 2 when this is happening, it's just activating it.
Caps lock can't do that...can it? [Now that I think of it.]
It's only happened in battle.

Nope, Control+Key activates tray 3 powers. I have never hit Control by accident when I was playing, so I put the powers I really don't want going off by accident up there. Like Self Destruction.

I have my main as 1, Alt as 2, and second Alt as 4. Three is in the upper right of the screen wrapped around the status indicator.
I only use the second alt tray on one toon on a regular basis. She has 9 toggles she runs...soon to be 11. 8D
I might do that more if it didn't seem every time, to every other time, that I zone, the game decides I actually want to activate the alt tray powers. (This has been across OSes, keyboards, accounts and computers.) Nothing like being a tank, running into the first group, and turning off your shields at them. (This used to happen "every once in a while." For me, now, it's almost constant. Yes, /bugged. I've had friends commenting on it happening too.)

The fix is to just press and release the key that the game thinks is "down". Unfortunately, this just clears the error, it doesn't prevent it from recurring.

I'll try that really simple fix. I might already be doing that, but not knowing, by hitting different buttons and powers.

It turned off the first 3 and left the new ones...but they still had the little bothersome arrow hanging there for me to accidentally hit if I'm in a hurry.
I too would love to have the option to "lock" them. I normally put my most used powers in the keys around me left hand...but a lvl 50 toon has a LOT of powers...plus temps, vets, accolades, etc. I need a hand on the mouse for looking around/up/down quickly...so I can't use the entire keyboard. I just keep putting rarely clicked powers (or leaving them empty) in those #1 slots unless there is a better way.
Hello,
Is there a way to lock the arrows on either side of the power trays number (1-9) so that when locked it acts like the Powers locked option in the Misc menu of the options menu?
I ask, because I was just on a team with a Tank that kept faceplanting, but otherwise was a good player!
The owner explained that they had minor co-ordination/sight problems and in the heat of battle sometimes hit the right side arrow instead of power number one in that tray.
They kept their attacks in tray one - powers 1-6 and their toggles in tray two - powers 1-5.
So what was happening was that they would hit the arrow so making tray one into tray two, and then instead of attacking for the alpha were toggling off all their defences!
Not a happy state of affairs! We had a good long chat about alternative strategies which they had tried but the easiest still seemed to be to lock the tray number.
Can this be done at the moment? Thanks for any ideas and sorry if this is a bit muddled by way of problem description.
Cheers
