After two days of banging my head against the wall and browsing the most obscure tech forums on the web I finally fixed it!
I had to tell the driver install promt not to install on auto. I picked the driver myself. In the next window I could point out the fact that I was installing a mouse and hey presto the mouse works.
I have to wonder why the install "wizard" couldn't just ask me what I was installing. :-/
As usual it helps coming to the CoH forums. Just typing out my issues got me calm enough not to throw the computer out the window and just click on everything once more.
See you in my HDTV. :-D

Since the mouse runs on the winXp drivers. Logitech doesn't provide seperate drivers to this particular mouse.

Small update. Windows can't install drivers to any USB mice. I tried an old wireless and one new wired mouse. Neither worked. Is it possible to get the generic USB mouse drivers for XP anywhere you think?

I'm going crazy here and the most reliable place I can think of to go for help is the CoH boards.
Background:
I got myself a nice big screen TV so I wanted to get CoH in 46" HD. I got everything to work with my new set-up with a wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech. But due to my newer computer starting a war with the TV I switch the TV to my older computer and the war stopped. Problem is the older computer just had windows xp reinstalled.
Issue:
My windows xp computer doesn't recognize my wireless USB mouse. Strangely the wireless keyboard works just fine of the same USB reciever.
It seems windows finds the mouse but can't install the generic windows drivers needed for the mouse. When it tries I get as far as: "Cannot Install this Hardware HID Class". When I check where I think the mouse is in the hardware manager I see that the driver isn't installed and I get (Code:28).
I think something might have gone awry with my reinstall of windows xp since several things look strange.. Like windows search doesn't work, defrag and system tools are missing and the admin tools as well.
But even with the iffy reinstall my eight year old can of wires is working like new and I really would like to not having to go through the entire reinstall again since Microsoft doesn't know customer support from diddly.
I really would like some help. I doubt anyone has a perfect fix but I think I need at least some pointers as to where to look now.
You see that thing over there behind me? That's where my wit ended.
I hate computers. :-/

Thanks a lot folks.
What did I get? I got a two day cruise to Tallin and back from my in-laws and the flu from some annonymous giver.
Just shaking of the last of it now. I'll be back in Paragon in a couple of weeks.

Merry Christmas Kay!
Merry Christmas all of Guardian!

If you have to explain your joke it probably wasn't that funny to begin with.

Good job!
Now just report 50s in complete half dozens in the future.

It's almost easier to pick a top seven for all the forums than just a top seven for Guardian.
With that said:
1. Noire
2. Ulli
3. Kheldarn (Savvy!)
4. Pepsi
After this I just can't pick anyone over anyone else. There are just too many nice people on Guardian. So on my list place 5-7 is a tie for the rest of us.

This PLing is getting out of hand.
Gratz!
