...and thanks for all the fish!
My mistake. I should have taught her how to play COH instead of Mario.
My thinking was the 2 button controller would be easier to pick up than the WASD system. Since she was raised typing on a keyboard though it was far easier for her to pick up on. Not to mention the lack of timing that was needed. Oh well, live and learn. |

I was going to gloat about my wife, who loves playing video games, plays CoH, loves Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, Star Trek, hiking, camping and football and ice hockey and horror movies (She loves Jason Vorhees, especially)...
But that would be wrong to do in this thread! *nods*
Hehe, from what I understand, she did play a lot of Super Mario Bros. when she was young.

So long Westley, aka Philotic_Knight.
You WILL be missed here.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

So the game gets the biggest update in five years and quietly my friends are leaving, people I knew would hang on till the last server was unplugged.
Has the burn out finally started to hit the die-die-never going to quit-die hards..
Well, Belgium!
I stayed with the game after I got married, but found that I would not be able to stay online for ungodly hours anymore, especially after our daughter was born.
Other than that, the only thing that could permanently pull me away from this game would be a Dungeons and Dragons MMO that features every official campaign setting as an expansion. It is unlikely to ever happen, however.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
Definitely my kids. The wife? I suppose but she'll be out with her friends so I would never have to choose.

Yes, really. Every single one of my wife's childhood friends left town due to finding jobs. And since I'm 1,500 miles away from my hometown, I can't introduce any of my childhood female friends.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
(This is oversimplified, but basically... In the long run, if you have to choose between your hobbies and your love, unless your hobby was "underaged girls", something is wrong with your relationship.)
I feel your pain there. Back in 2005 I tried to get an ex of mine into gaming. She seemed really interested after getting hooked on watching me play FFX.
Problem was, she'd never...never even picked up a controller, let alone tried to play a game with a keyboard.
So I busted out the still working SNES and popped in Mario All-stars. I figured she needed a good foundation to build on. Learning the basics and then moving up.
She gave up after falling into the first pit and or being killed by touching the 1st goomba over 50 times in a row.
My patience was strong, yet after an hour of trying to show her how to hold B and still hit A only to have her run headlong into walls and pits I gave up.
She lacked even the most basic hand eye training. The timing we gamers take for granted was beyond her immediate grasp. Now I'm sure with practice she could've got better but the level of frustration was quickly eroding any 'enjoyment' she'd imagined having. At 23 she was past the 'learning' age and was unwilling to work on it.
Years later I bumped into her and found out she was a WoW addict now...
My mistake. I should have taught her how to play COH instead of Mario.
