Help me tell Game Informer to knock it off!
Easily done. Although they still own the engine, they no longer develop the game. I'll be sure to tell them as much in my email.
I haven't read the magazine article, but just for the sake of not looking like and idiot were I to yell at them that they got it wrong, I checked for an article for City of Heroes on GI's website. I did see an article that made mention of NCSoft filing for 2 separate trademarks for City of Heroes 2, but nowhere in the article did it say Cryptic.
It's possible that they fixed that article, but I'm at work and can't see the published article at the moment.
If I see that they got it wrong, yes, I'll join your crusade.
"I may," he said with a grin that would have sent sane men scampering for the trees, "have been imagining it."
The City of Heroes 2 thing was a few months ago and may very well have been fixed on their site, but I'm not sure since I can't find it. But the other stuff was released in their newest magazine which is not available for viewing on their site yet.
I remember reading a correction on the COH2 thing. I haven't gotten the new issue yet but once I do I'll yell at them.

Trust me, I've been looking through every issue that they've sent since the error. Thing is, Game Informer's accuracy is pretty zero, to the point that the question has been raised on whether or not GI actually bothers to verify any rumors or events before posting those events as facts.
Email sent. I personally kinda find it to be a bit of a slap in the face when they do that. Paragon Studios' quality >>>>>>>>>> Cryptic's quality

Nothing is going to happen. They'll make a small "oops" box on the reader's mail page.
They haven't issued a correction.

My interactions with game mag people have left me with the impression they are ****** bags that don't know much about what they are talking about and are more likely to write snarky replies hidden in future related reviews than they are to correct their mistake and act like grown ups.
Maybe but journalistic integrity shouldn't care about whether something is well known or popular.

People still read that bird cage liner?
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I don't think there are any American media organizations of any kind that exhibit true journalistic integrity anymore, except where such might directly serve the bottom line...which is not integrity, so...

McClane: Hey, thanks for saving my daughter's life.
Farrell: What was I going to do?
McClane: That's what makes you "that guy."

Total threadjack here, and I may get modded. Also, it may be just me and my incredibly pessimistic worldview, but...

I don't read too many mags but if you want integrity there you have it. On more than one occasion they have ripped a crappy product to shreds in a review... you turn the page and there is ad for the product they just ripped. Seeing a product that clearly is spending money to advertise in the mag getting a 3 out of 10 (they almost never give a 1 or 2 so 3 is the worst you are likely to see) in said magazines review section.
Priceless.
It's reasonable to say that Paragon Studios is "unheard of", since it's the third name that's been attached to CoH's development (Cryptic, NC NorCal, Paragon Studios). NCSoft, on the other hand, produced the first MMO to break 100,000 concurrent users in Korea (Lineage), and has been the producer for 10 different MMOs (2 closed), with another upcoming. They've also got a handful of non-MMO PC games, and boatloads of web-based games. NCSoft West, until recently, was also run by Richard Garriot, THE man in the MMO world. An MMO enthusiast who hasn't heard of NCSoft is living under a rock.

Also, have to agree with Fleeting Whisper. Cryptic at least should be very well known in the MMO world in that the only MMO company with a worse reputation is SOE.

Months ago, Game Informer made a mention in their magazine that Cryptic announced City of Heroes 2. We all know Cryptic is no longer involved with City of Heroes or NCsoft. I e-mailed them about it and they didn't even acknowledge the mistake in their magazine like they do sometimes. However this month they did an article titled "Revisiting City of Heroes" and credited Cryptic as the ones who made both The Mission Architect and Going Rogue. This is very annoying to see especially after the stuff Cryptic pulled around the release of Champions Online.
I'm asking you fellow forum members to do me a favor and e-mail them at feedback@gameinformer.com to let them know they messed up. They may not give it another look if only one person e-mails them, but if multiple people do maybe they'll finally realize they messed up. Also if a mod sees this, maybe you guys wanna pass the word along and send an official complaint to Game Informer about the slip up?
