Yep...that was from the Billboard Contest. That was mine. ^_^

That seemed like a really Troll-ish "Look at me!" comment...there were many of other winners who had really great entries as well. Some posted right here in his thread.

Still, thank you for the kind words. It just seemed like a good idea what with all the bad guys attacking some zone or another every 15 minutes it seems...

Seconded. Bring in Miguel O'Hara in a 'ultimate' version of his 2099 costume, and maybe I'll put USM back on my pull list. Until then, it looks like my books are Invincible and Green Lantern for quite some time...at least until another Atomic Robo series crops up.

So, yeah...the poster...like it, but it looks more like the cover to the comic adaptation of the movie.
At least, I really hope it is...
  4. I have three that I think have the iconic coolness that one prefers to have in a good character name. I have:
    Quantum Knight, my main,
Construct (or The Construct, if you will), and
    Doctor Psychosis.
  5. See? This is why the IXP conversion costs for Incarnate Threads are so high.

They need the extra money to be able to buy more XP from the black market, and this will also help to push back the predicted Influence shortage that they mentioned.

So I'm calling for all level 50's to NOT do the Incarnate Trials and instead purchase all their IXP if they want Incarnate Levels!

    Help save our game!
  6. No, I would not be in favor of delaying the Lore slot for new pets.

I would, however, like to see the level shift moved from the Lore slot to, say judgement or interface instead. If not everyone's going to want a pet (ignoring any potential concept clashes) then make it so one of the major points of the incarnate system, the level shift, is in a power that most people will take.

Apologies if this suggestion has already been posed, it's a very long and flamey thread..
  7. Sadly, I'm currently between groups, as my former group and I had a

bit of a falling out, in the middle of the last chapter of an epic Mutants and Masterminds campaign that I was running, too.

I've played just about everything at some point, Star Wars (d6 and d20), Rifts/Palladium, D&D, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Hackmaster, even GURPS...it's been 6 months so far, and I find myself thinking back to those games, but reluctant to try and get the old group together.

As this seems a good place to ask where people might know, anyone know of ways to find new groups for the "not sure where to start looking" crowd?

  9. ...Can't really seem to get into any character beyond my level 50 Kinetic/Energy Defender.

...And, just like everyone else, it seems, have a very specific setup for my inspirations. Although, especially on my aforementioned Defender, I usually skip the damage boosts, as it just seems redundant.
  10. I didn't see it mentioned here, but a good (albeit older) series to read is the Rogue Squadron Series. It follows Wedge Antilles and his band of misfit pilots, and has one of the best uses for an Ewok ever put in print.

    Highly recommended.

    5 Years later...

I first heard about this game from a preview in PC Gamer. I was playing SWG at the time, which I wasn't going to get into until I found I was making excuses to jump on my brother's computer to play. I really didn't buy into the whole "MMO" idea at first, but it grew on me. I finally broke down and bought my own copy of the game, and a few months later started seeing info about City of Heroes. When I saw the preorder box in Best Buy, I thought "Well, there's a chance for beta access, at the very least if I don't like it I can cancel, or I can play SWG and CoH." ^_^ Sure.

So, after entering the preorder key, I waited...and I waited...I found out that a round of Beta had started; still no email. So, I waited. Eventually I found out that another wave of Beta invites were being issued, so, that night, I played SWG with one eye on my email. Around 11, maybe midnight, I see an email from Cryptic with my Beta access and a link to download the game. I was wandering around the dune sea with my rifleman, and not doing anything really important, so I logged out to download CoH and give it a try.

My poor Wookiee Rifleman was marooned in the dune sea for days. ^_^

I was hooked from the moment I started up the game. I've kept my subscription up ever since, through a brief stint with WoW and Aion, and have been in many a beta since then, including CoV and GR.

So, now 6 years and what is it? 7 months, give or take, I'm still here, and not planning on going anywhere.
  13. First year in my own house, so me and the wife decided to have the ToTers walk back to our patio and get the candy from the back of a small "haunted house" we set up. Had all of 14 kids, but dressing up and showing them the way back to the bowl in my "Doctor Psychosis" costume which is based on one of my CoH villains.

Then I watched the Walking Dead on AMC.

All in all, a fun night. Anyone want some extra candy? o_O
  14. Let's all hope that this doesn't mean there will be a Linkin Park remake of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" as the movie's signature song.
  15. I haven't read the magazine article, but just for the sake of not looking like and idiot were I to yell at them that they got it wrong, I checked for an article for City of Heroes on GI's website. I did see an article that made mention of NCSoft filing for 2 separate trademarks for City of Heroes 2, but nowhere in the article did it say Cryptic.

It's possible that they fixed that article, but I'm at work and can't see the published article at the moment.

If I see that they got it wrong, yes, I'll join your crusade.
  16. Personally, I love my smartphone. I went through the "do I really need this" decision way back when I got my first one, the HTC Mogul. I haven't bought a regular phone since, and just upgraded to the HTC EVO. I'm loving it.

Do I really need it? No.

Is it fun to have and useful in it's own right? Hell yes.

It's never going to replace my pc, but it works for when I want to check scores, or look up a restaurant, or what have you.

It's a gadget, plain and simple, and only you can justify whether the expense is warranted.

Oh, and by the way, I posted this from my smartphone. ^_^

Since I pay over $100 a month (damn you, Comcast! *Shakes fist*) so I can see Doctor Who and Top Gear, which are both on BBC America only (at least it's a form of BBC), I think $230 a year is well worth it.

Especially since I hate commercials and their massive change in volume over the show I'm watching!

Man, do I hate that. ^_^
  18. This is already pretty comprehensive, but I'll add my +1s...

    Gundam Wing (+1)
    Vandread (+1)
Tenchi Muyo (+1) - However, it must be said: Tenchi in Tokyo (-1). If I could rate it lower, I would...don't even bother with it.
    Last Exile (+1)
MS Gundam 08th MS team (+1)
    Bubblegum Crisis (+1)
    Cowboy Bebop (+1)
    Macross Plus (+1)
Slayers (+1) - I recommend the first TV series and Slayers TRY (The 3rd series). Slayers Next meanders too much IMO, and isn't really necessary for enjoying TRY.
    Martian Successor Nadesico (+1)
    Neon Genesis Evangelion (+1)
Macross (+1) - Robotech if you're desparate, since it's a watered-down version of Macross anyway.
    Naruto (+1)
    Trigun (+1)
    Ah My Goddess (+1)
    Elfin Lied (+1)

    Dragonball Z (-1)
    Berserk (-1)

    - The Atlas Statue is now unstable and has a 0.01% per minute chance of collapsing and crushing everyone beneath it. This raises to 25% if the words "Costume Contest" appear in the chat window.

  20. Thanks, Spacenut. Forgot about the Hero Tutorial. Should have figured it'd be there.
  21. Okay, maybe I'm dumb and just missed it, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. What's the official name of the emergency teleport system that sends you to the hospital after being defeated, or did I just answer my own question?

    Seconded....and always with a lower-case "boom." in teams. ^_^

I also love to use Power Burst as a finishing move on my Kin/NRG Defender. Something about the double-fisted blast and the sound of the blast accompanied by the knockback just makes it a great finisher...especially after I've Siphoned and Fulcrum Shifted my way to a massive damage buff. ^_^
