What's your Buzzkill?
Other than "drama" amongst my in-game friends, team, or SG, the only reason I have ever had to take a break was when I lost one of my Iron Eagles. I deleted him and was just bummed out the rest of the night.

Outleveling a story arc right before the last mission. Does this still happen?
|
On the other hand, though, that means that it's very possible to clutter yourself up with story-arcs to the point that new contacts won't give you any new story-arcs anymore, so you have to manually finish all those missions, which really just ends up feeling like a huge waste of time.
On a larger scale, after running the office, the warehouse, the laboratory, the sewer, and the cave ad nauseum, I'm ready for a break for a month or two. Part of the reason I look forward to GR is to see new maps. Hopefully, that doesn't mean new skins on old maps.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
There can be no bigger a buzzkill than... _____
The question is in the title. When you're playing CoX, what kills your enjoyment the most and makes you want to just take a break for awhile?
Reason I ask is because I was on an 8-man team earlier today and the leader insisted that we fight +0 council mobs. Imo, that's fine when you're trying to gauge the effectiveness of your PuG, but he kept it through every mission; and MAN was it boring. I think I stuck with the team for maybe 3 missions until I decided to leave and find another, but when I did quit, I just felt like...ugh. Anyways, that's just one of my buzzkills; don't get me started on rogue fire/kins. |
People who aoe immob a spread group or people who open up with an aoe KB.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Defeat all.
One thing that annoys me but is not really a buzzkill is when people insist on gathering everyone for buffs. Yes, it's one thing to do so before you fight the big bad... but every 90 seconds? Seriously? Here's a thought : STAY TOGETHER. Then it won't frickin' matter when you throw one off.

"You fired off your RAs without warning us so we could make sure we got them!"
"Everyone was close to the boss fighting. I was in the middle of all of you."
"But you might have missed me, and I really needed them!"
"Dude, I was standing right next to you. You weren't going to get missed."
"Next time tell everyone to gather."
"DUDE, I WAS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO YOU."
"Home is where, when you have to go there, they have to let you in."
*sigh* Its opposite number is a buzzkill for me - when someone gripes at my emp for *not* making everyone gather. I can't count how many times I've had conversations like this -

Complaining about games.
"The side that is unhappy is not the side that the game was intended to make happy, or promised to make happy, or focused on making happy. The side that is unhappy is the side that is unhappy. That's all." - Arcanaville
"Surprised your guys' arteries haven't clogged with all that hatred yet." - Xzero45
"[fill in the blank] Farm, want in?"
The plastic tips at the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister.
--The Question, JLU
Two things mainly.
Timid teams. It's one thing to stop and size up a tough-looking group for a couple seconds, especially if the team is running on a high difficulty setting. It drives me nuts when everyone pauses for 10 or 15 seconds before every group we fight, despite the fact that we're steamrolling everything.
Running out of endurance. There's nothing in this game less fun than standing around doing nothing because you don't have enough endurance to fire off any powers (except brawl, which is about as effective as bleeding on your enemies)
Suddenly realizing that me and 1-2 other guys on the full team seem to be doing all the fighting while the Team chat is zipping along about some movie or the chat window is silent while custom AFK bubbles are constantly popping up above the slackers' heads, who coincidentally, all belong to the same SG.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Tanks who pause at every mob... to ask/say "Ready?"
You're the TANK fergawdsakes! Just DIVE IN!

Teams that won't stay together. What's so hard about the concept of picking a leader and following him/her?
Sometimes a pug is like trying to herd cats and invariably the worst offenders are off getting killed and blaming the leader, the "healer" or the alignment of the star's but never themselves.
Roberto - I have to say I've been guilty of that. Mainly because I wasn't sure everyone was with me or someone's green/blue bar was very low and I was afraid they might be resting or any of a number of things. I've gotten better now about charging on unless someone specifically calls out for a knee or buff or they look mostly dead and might need a few seconds to recover.
Often, the buzzkill for me is starting a new character only to get into the game and realize it's going to take 20 levels before I might feel like a level 1 superhero.
Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end

And there you'll always be
-- The Fox and the Hound
The slow play of a lowbie toon, especially if it's something of a support class AT. I play at oddball hours and sometimes I end up playing on lower population servers. This morning I was on a nice new DP/Dark Corr on Pinnacle at about 10 AM my time. I had just hopped over to Port Oaks and tried a /search - there was one other player in the zone. That toon can solo fine, but a solo "semi-support" toon low levels tends to make for the slowest playing CoH has to offer. Some days that's just too slow for me.
Mu at low levels (ie pre-Stamina). They can barely outdamage my regen cos their attacks suck. I can barely outdamage their regen cos I've got no frikkin' end...
Stone Tanks (or Tanks in general) who play like scrappers. For the love of god please turn around and notice the second purple boss who is tearing your Squishies faces off!!
I don't need to be babysat, but some form of awareness of what's happening with the rest of the team would be nice.
If said Tanker is also a constant "Herding to here" then it's doubly worse.
