What do you name your Soldiers of Arachnos?
Named my Fortunata Lady Moira - Often is used to personify fate. I felt it was necessary. She's going to defect with GR.
My huntsman build is Marshal DiCosta.
I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.
Arabelle - Crab/Bane dual build - Just a girl who grew up in the rogue isles admiring the power of Arachnos. Eventually enlisted and worked her way up the ranks as a crab. However after completing the RSF, Recluse was so impressed he asked her to be a personal special agent and she trained the bane skills to to be a little more...discreet for some missions. Her name was actually Anabelle but she changed it in dedication to the organization.
Merulina's Hand - Fortunata by game mechanics but supposed to be a coralax hybrid protecting the leviathan from any who would attempt to steal its powers and preparing the isles for Merulina's return.
On my Huntsman went with Arbiter Evans, simple and a nice use of the Arbiter title I felt. On my new Fortunata, ditched the Arachnos costume @ 10 and went with a non-canon type of character I named 'Panzer Magier'. The def and mez protection is phenomenal on a blasty type of character, and the psionic damage +immob/hold -recharge effects have been pretty impressive so far. More often than not I find myself taking the alpha on larger teams with good heals from Corruptors or MMs to back me up.
Crab - Dread Huntsman, after the lizardeating huntsman spiders of Australia.
I literally just made him yesterday on Virtue. I don't know HOW that name wasn't taken already, but it wasn't.

My Night Widow is named "Agent von Zant" since IIRC "Operative von Zant" was a couple characters too long for the name box when I got generic'd. My Crab Spider is a demonically possessed/mutated freak whose spider arms/spiderbots are spider-based demonic entities, called "Materspite."

The genus or species of real spiders make for cool names
Bane/Huntsman - Operative Tracker
Fortunata/Night Widow - Eclipse Widow
50s:
Grimmloch, Tactically Delicious, Ugly Frankie, Operative Tracker, CryoFurnace, Professional Help, Silver Sphinx, Aries Knight, Tachyon Aegis, Jade Sphinx
Currently building:
Any one of half a dozen alts!
Some of mine I'm a bit 'meh' about:
Crab: Arachnon
Blood widow: Aranae
The one I like, just, bacause I like obscure words, is second spider: 'Viduate.' ...yes, he is a widow.
Mine is named Mage Spyder
My Crab is Araknophobia ...
my warshade is Kal Amary
I've used both the "Operative" and "Huntsman" conventions. Note that "Huntsman" is usually reserved for a Wolf Spider, that is, a Soldier that does not choose to take either the Bane or Crab career options. As several guides on the board describe, though, that doesn't mean you can't take Bane POWERS, you just don't call yourself a Bane, you call yourself a Wolf, and concentrate on your base powers instead of the Bane tree.
Of course, taking ANY Crab powers gives you the backpack, so I would say conceptually a Huntsman cannot take any Crab powers. My main SoA, however, is a female Crab Spider named Arachnophelia. It's a codename, and really the concept that I developed the whole character around. She's obsessed with spiders, almost to the point of a fetish, which is why she joined Arachnos. She really wants to actually be a spider. I just decided the "Operative" label didn't fit with that name. Although I've never used them, I would guess "Webmaster" would be an effective title for a Crab Spider, while "Commando", or "Executioner" would be for Bane Spiders. I believe I've also seen "Seer" for Fortunatas. |
Also, what if it's a female? Would "Huntsman" change to "Huntsmistress" or something like that? "Huntswoman"?

Fortunata - Faterazer
Faterazer can see everyone's destiny but his own. His jealously drove him insane, and so he lives to toy with the future by killing people before their destiny can be fulfilled. Hence, "razing their fate". Also sort of an opposite of "Fateweaver".
Future Crab Spider - 1st Lt. Kronos or Major Kronos
Head of an elite unit called the "Titan Unit", Kronos is the guy Arachnos calls in to tackle the big stuff (Basically, a Giant Monster specialist). Members of the Titan Unit are given codenames, hence "Kronos".
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.
Named my not-quite-crab-yet Agent Scythe. She is a former Longbow agent who got indoctrinated by Arachnos after her comrades left her for dead after a particularly nasty ambush by our favorite spider-themed villain group. She survived only to join the other team, believing the Arachnos lies about Longbow betraying her.
Now she zealously hunts her former colleagues, dedicated wholly to Arachnos. The "Scythe" nomer is one she gave herself - She figured it would be a nice kind of symbolism to go with the "Reap what you sow" theme of her vengeance against Longbow.
I use the scientific names of various tarantula species. My wife and I collect tarantulas (we have about 85 at the moment) so I have a large selection of names open to me.
Not one of them has EVER been taken either

I named my
1. Fortunata named Katipo
2. Bane named Red Katipo
3. Widow named Black Katipo
4. Crab Name White Katipo (I know White does not exist, but I was on a roll)
I made them before duel builds came out.
*Copied from the internet*KATIPO: Latrodectus katipo, the katipo, is an endangered species of spider native to New Zealand. A member of the genus Latrodectus, it is related to the Australian redback spider, and the North American black widow spiders. The species is venomous to humans, capable of delivering a comparatively dangerous spider bite. Katipo is a Māori name and means "night-stinger". It is a small to medium-sized spider with the female having a distinctive black body with a white bordered red stripe on its back.

My crab is called Jonathan King. I tend to lean towards "normal" names for my characters anyway and for a VEAT it just felt right to do it that way. I figure his official on-the-job title is Operative King but he doesn't use it in casual conversation (and unfortunatly there's no way to have different contacts use different names for you).
Spider Monkii
Basically the Gorilla look ( Old thread from years ago on how to create the look ) with crab arms on back.

I also used the NPC description as his own. If I put on walk and tag along with the ones in St. Marshal I look like an NPC.
For my complete Arachnos-loyal bane, I went with Bane Spider Warden. Seemed to fit just right.
It's been mentioned before, but many Fortunatas go by Seer (name), if you want to stick to Arachnos canon.
Or you could make a skimpy outfit and name one Seer Panties, if you want to be a pervert.
