How Many Free Costume Tokens Do You Have?

I started playing in March, 2005. I noticed after logging in on my oldest hero for the 6th Anniversary badge that he had 81 free costume tokens.

Some of the folks here since Launch that do not mess much with costumes will probably have an even larger pile of them.

How many do you have?

Depending on the character, anywhere from 1 to something over 70.

Most i have i think is about 36 or so. i16 + i17 took a lot of my free cossie specs up

I think I have about 60 or so - I don't really use Icon very much at all

I use them. Though I don't go through them nearly as fast as some folks because when I get a costume I like, I stick with it. After all I've made it for a reason. But whenever there's a change needing to be made I pretty much suck down a token, because meh, they're already ripping everyone else off I don't need to pay for costumery...

I think I have 17 on my current level 40 blaster, who just got her newest costume slot. I don't think I'll ever "run out" of them, since I've got over 66 months veteran badges, and even my level 1s can bolt to Icon and get changed what, 5, 6 times?

On my oldest char i had 82 i think, not counting the ones from vet rewards (which are about 8-10 more?)

Kinda not used em that much lately with the 50% discount from Veteran rewards and the 25% discount token from logging in icon, i do spend alot of time and inf in icon tho

Dang! I was up to 81 on my first, original hero, but I used a few recently. I was hoping to go for the record.
Although, I still have a costume slot which uses the legacy business suit!

Looks like the highest for me is 62, with a fair number in the 20-30s. That's not counting vet tokens, which I typically don't redeem until I need (even though we can choose not to use them now).

Ironically I don't think the Devs ever assumed we would "rack" these tokens up unused like this. They were originally introduced to correct some of the first costume item bugs. This allowed us to effectively accomplish free "costume respecs" to fix these bugs that we had no control over. As such they figured we'd use them all pretty much as soon as we got them.

It actually took the Devs a couple of years to realize people were hording these tokens. Once they realized people were considering these things to be "rewards" instead of a means to correct bugged costumes they finally started making them official by giving them out as Vet awards for instance.

This was clearly an example of players playing the game differently than the Devs thought we would.

I think the highest I had recently was 42 on my blaster Fusebox, gone down to 37 after some costume revamps. 60 month vet here, so I have a bunch unclaimed on other characters too.

I've been going through and fixing my powers/weapons on characters who had them reset to defaults with the release of i17. So far, 81 tokens is my record, but I believe I have some older characters that I rarely play with a few more.

By the way, I suggested that the devs issue more tokens to allow for fixing that customization reset bug, just on the off chance there's someone out there who suffered it and doesn't have a heap of tokens just lying around, even though most people, including me, seem to have a substantial stockpile, even without counting veteran costume tokens.

A lot of interesting responses. Being a Standard Guy, I don't really use them unless I am adding a costume slot with a variation, and once that is done, that is that for the duration.

I had not thought of Vet Reward tokens; I did not factor those in.

Back in the day, when it cost a BOATLOAD of Infl to change your costume, I ran with a couple of female super-hero types who changed their costumes A LOT. I marvelled at how they could afford to do that--(there were hardly any costume tokens then, you whippersnappers! ) I recall that my first cape cost 30,000 infl... a fortune back in the day. I gave a similar sum from one of my poorer heroes to a Rookie so they could afford to get their new cape, and they were SO proud! But that hero of mine had to wire Uncle Melancton for more funds so he could get new enhancements, heh.

81 is a bunch, but I hardly thought I would have the most; as I said, I imagine there are some Launch folks who have a good deal more, and some folks have responded here who are past 81. It is too bad that you cannot gift your tokens to others, because if those gals I knew are still playing, they have Zero tokens and could use some more, no doubt.

70 on my oldest character.

On my main from I6, I have 30 left, but I tend to spend them like they're about to become valueless.

I have 84 on my oldest character and the other really old ones have 60+.

I've got 80something as well on more than a couple of heroes; wish we could trade them in for something else.

I remember when it used to cost a (seemingly) staggering amount for costume changes- nowadays I usually sell a dozen or so crafted common IOs for that much every day, so I just blow the inf- the permanent 50% from my vet rewards helps quite a bit as well.

High 70s, low 80s on my oldest character (not logged in right now to check the actual total but I know it's around there). As for total tokens spread throughout all of my alts.....

It's in the by-laws...I think...somewhere...I just had them...I gotta clean off this desk someday...

In fact, we're required to spend a significant portion of time in Icons (especially on new delivery days, as posted on the calendar by every base entrance).

Last time I looked CMA had roughly 80 of them and a bunch of my older characters all have 50+; I generally don't play with Icon all that much. My newer characters seldom even unlock additional costumes although I admit the old ones have all 4 slots. Usually any additional costumes are jokes or special purpose... like the old style low lag Hami Raid costume on CMA... jeans and Tshirt.

So yeah, those tokens do tend to pile up over the years. It kind of makes that veteran reward of reduced cost at the tailor pretty worthless

I use them all the time, either to tweak costume designs, or rotate costumes around on my main.

Some of my little-played alts on other servers have gotten as many as 56.
