  1. (With the game shutting down I will post a goodbye once, and here seems best and appropriate)

CoH has been a lot of fun, from beta and headstart to CoV to close. And Angry Angels has been the best group of players out there. That makes Ara the best leader by default.

It has been a great run and my thanks to all for making the experience one worth returning to night after night.

I would list everyone I wanted to thank individually, but the list is SO long I do not want to run the risk of missing anyone (you all know who you are anyway).

Be assured I will be out there somewhere, watching your backs and making sure things run smoothly. Good luck everyone in all of your future endeavors!

*fades from view one last time*
  2. The section of the Guide titled "COMMANDING SUBSETS OF PETS" there is a chart showing how to issue commands to multiple groups of pets at the same time.

Specifically, to do so for the tier 1 and 3 Robots (ie Battle and Assault together), use the letter 'A' or 'L'. For example:

    /petcompow A goto

Because the powernames for Battle and Assault share an 'A', both will respond to the partial word of their names (or in this case, single letter from the powernames). Notice the Protector Bots do not have an 'A' so will not receive the command.

Try this method in your command text file, in case the problem you are having stems from sending multiple commands to the separate groups.

*side note to Llydia: The use of underscores in commands (petcom_pow versus petcompow) is completely optional. The parser ignores them. I only used them in the text files for clarity of reading. I had to remove all underscores in the bind version because the length of the binds approached the 255-character limit.

    Good luck!

The numpad guide is a system, not necessarily tied to just the numpad. Just change the keys of the layout to something convenient on the mac keyboard. Some suggestions are in the beginning section.

You can use the following to issue a command to just your tier1 demons:

    /petcompow ling command

In my signature below there is a section of the numpad guide entitled Commanding Subsets of Pets that deals with how to issue commands to any groupings of pets using either the /petcompow or /petcomname commands.

    Good luck!

This way, players can choose how involved they are with their pets. Would also be nice if we could set at what point, any henchmen that could heal, should heal a fellow henchman (1/4, 1/2, 9/10).

It might be nice to be able to 'program' your henchmen in detail like that. Joker did in the Dark Knight:

"I'm supposed to shoot the bus driver."
    "What bus dr--"

It would be a true advanced mode, and optional of course.

'Stay' is merely 'Goto-where-they-are'. It has the same weakness that Goto does, in that the pets still can decide to move away on their own (running into melee, avoiding ground effects, etc.)
  7. I always take a form of invisibility, a vertical travel, a self-heal, and either recall friend (non-melees) or the fighting pool (melees):
    • SPEED: Superspeed for invisibility with Celerity:Stealth if the primary/secondary does not contain a stealth power (if it does, I'll just use the stealth io for either fly or jump). Hasten if there is not a needed auto-fire power in the primary/secondary (for example Active Defense).
    • FLIGHT or LEAPING: Fly or Superjump for vertical travel.
    • MEDICINE: Aid Self if the primary/secondary does not contain a self heal.
    • TELEPORT: Recall Friend on non-melees, FIGHTING: on melees.
I often work Mid's backwards from level 49, assigning the crucial primary/secondary powers, then fitting in all of these pool powers as soon as possible (SS at level 4 or 6, Recall Friend by level 10, Aid Self by 16, vertical travel by 20, Hasten near 20; Fighting pool if taken usually before 30). This can sometimes mean putting off extra primary/secondary powers until the 20's, but often these are redundant attacks or defense powers that work best once slotted with better enhancements. The pool powers tend to work well right out of the box, allowing slotting of the regular powers pre-20 without conflict. Thus by level 20, most of the pre-20 powers will be assigned the bulk of their slots and the post-20 powers can be assigned the post-20 slots. Vertical travel rarely must rely upon purchased Jetpacks.

There are many times I would like to add a fifth pool, and keep hoping the devs will offer a way to obtain this.
  8. Had a bug tonight on the final battle of a Dilemma Diabolique trial. We were going for Masters and had people assigned to kill the Essences. The first couple of Lifegiving Essence spawn cycles ran normally. Then the timer got off somehow and the following was happening:

    Essences spawned at 20 secs.
Diabolique consumed Essences at 18 secs.

It was thus impossible to kill Diabolique as she healed back to full every 30 secs. and it was impossible to target and kill the Essences in 3 secs.

  11. I'm not sure of the recycle time on their caltrops, but you might consider some strategy: move the fight.

Anchor the pets on passive where you want the fight to take place, then run up and agro the target Knives group. Make sure they drop their trops at that point. Then run back (preferably breaking line of sight) and wait for them to come.

Not every problem is a nail.
  12. I posted an update to the Numpad Guide covering Beast Mastery. If anyone spots any errors let me know. Thanks!
  13. With the pending release of the Beast Mastery Mastermind primary, I've written up the numpad binds and text files for use with the new powerset. Enjoy!

    ADDENDUM: COMMANDING SUBSETS OF BEASTS

Use the following chart to select and control two tiers of pets with one command (ie /petcom_pow S goto to control both tier 1 and 2 at the same time).

    Quote:
    Beasts:
    tiers 1+2: S
    tiers 1+3: W,E
    tiers 2+3: I
  14. The only time I bring out pets is just before I'm going to attack something. And I dismiss them again as soon as all the fighting is over. I never run around with pets trailing behind.

So just enter the mission alone, stealth to the objective, summon in a quiet corner and attack. There is nothing sacred or special about having pets out, especially if you turn on your invisibility (SS+stealth in most cases). In fact, pets trailing around a map or zone can actually be more of a hindrance.
  15. When we initially badged for the bombs, it was noticed that the team sometimes earned multiple credits for planting bombs at the same time.

What happened: If two or more people clicked and cued up the bomb glowie at nearly the same time, all would go off and count as 'planted' for the badge. As long as the timer-bar was counting down, the game didn't create an exclusion because of another bomb planting. I'm not sure if this behavior has been changed, but at the time we managed to get off up to five bombs on a single group click.

Since you have a highly organized method and group of players already, you might want to check into setting off all 18 bombs simultaneously without messing around with dropping people from team.

I'd be interested to see if it can be done! (film at 11?)
  16. 'Disgusting' villains are easier to deal with, since they come built in with negative connotations.

'Glamourous' villains are more insidious, playing on positive qualities yet performing evil. The dissonance can allow them to get away with more and leaves our guard down against them.

The same goes for heroes. The Acne Avenger is much harder to appreciate despite a heart of gold, while Captain Sparkles gets all the good press no matter how incompetent he is.
  17. Captain Scarlet eh?

Well I want a Supermarionation(tm) toggle similar to walk, where you'd bounce along stiff-bodied, with your hands held out waist-high unnaturally in front of you.

    Paragon! @#$% ya!

  18. Quickly perusing, I didn't see any mention of:
    • Confusing warworks near terminals counts as moving them away.

    • There is a bug of sorts whereby two glowies can be obtained at the same time in the bunkers. Specifically, the pair of glowies near the inner door: click on both to get both without completing the timer for either. Stealthy characters can get all the glowies in a bunker quickly this way.
  19. Pick up Superspeed and drop a Celerity:Stealth IO in it. You'll then have functional invisibility that allows you to attack. Best investment you'll make!
  20. Though I never thought that we could lose, there's no regret.

If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Leandro.
  21. Happy Birthday to a most deserving friend. Hope it is excellent!

    and
    /bind shift+lbutton follow$$petcom goto

The first only sets me to follow and the second only makes the pet go. What am i doing wrong?
Well the short answer is...Put the commands in quotes when you have more than one, like this:

    /bind shift+lbutton "petcom goto$$follow"

    Longer answer:

The way you had it, you were issuing two separate commands to the game...first to bind a single command to shift+lbutton, and then do a second command separate from the bind. To make the bind have all the commands attach to it, you have to place them in quotes.

BTW I'm sure you are aware that your requested bind only works when you have a pet targeted to both tell to goto and for you to then follow. Since the follow command is a toggle, you may get out of sync issuing it. Plus it can be very annoying to have your view shifting around while trying to place a goto recticle for a pet. You might just consider keeping them separate, using the shift-click to order the goto, and 'F' to follow.

    Good luck!
