Help us test a new server technology on the North American Training Rooms
did not WoW just add some kind of cross server teaming? maybe that is what is being tested .

I've been suggesting cross-server instancing for some time now and many others. Hopefully this is something they are implementing in the near future.
So, what happens if two people with the same name try to be on a team, if this isn't a bug?
I just tried a cross server instant team invite. I was in the mission and tried to invite someone from Test 2 I was on test 1.
Result: Fail
So this looks to be a mislabeled issue instead of Cross server Teaming.
Seems as if everyone is on Training Room 02 with 3 red dots. I'm #1 in the queue.
Only 1 green dot on Training Room.
Edit: And of course, I post this and get in.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I have two accounts and two CoX-capable computers. So, I made a "Pistol Puppy" on each Test server, using the two accounts.
I can find no way to invite myself cross-server.
So, I have no idea what they're testing.
"I do so love taking a nice, well thought out character and putting them through hell. It's like tossing a Faberge Egg onto the stage during a Gallagher concert." - me
@Palador / @Rabid Unicorn
So are all these posts about cross-server teaming legitimate, or spurious? It would have been great if we were told what to test. Since we weren't, I guess speculation is all we are left with.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Does anyone know the name of the second server, just out out of curiosity. IIRC, the first one is Shibboleth.
I believe it's simply "Marketing."
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I invited a friend to team, I was in training room 1 and he was in training room 2. I invited him and he came/ to my zone from St. Martial (Training room 2) and we met there in Cap Au Diable (training room 1).
I don't know what happened but it was so weird. |
This could prove VERY interesting!
All I can say is, I certainly HOPE it isn't cross-server teaming in the strictest sense, otherwise any sembalance of an RP server (read: Virtue) is pretty much destroyed.
That's really all I have to say about that.
Let's just hope it's a bug, or done in some other way.
"Superman died fighting Doomsday because he allowed his toggles to drop, and didn't beat Doomsday before Unstoppable wore off, sad really..."

And for the RP groups I play with, we'd like it since they're scattered about Freedom, Triumph and one other (can't recall). Plus we had wanted to do a "cross-over" event on Test, but this would be far better, methinks
I'm sure it could be a boon for the remaining PVPers, too.
Yeah, I just looked into this.
I logged into training room 2. I know it was 02 because I had absolutely no characters, whereas, I have 3 dozen or so on regular test server. I asked @Taryn, who was speaking in Beta Testers channel, to become a global friend and we checked each others "Shard."
It showed that she was on training02 and that I was on trainingpool. There is a difference between the internal and external names of the servers.
So this confirms Kheldarn's explanation, explains what Antoinette experienced, and dashes my hopes for some kind of cross-server teaming.

Which brings us back to the point of the OP. I noticed that my performance on TR2 was a little better than I had been getting. Whether this was due to this new tech, or due to the removal of the performance monitoring tools they were using for a bit, or due to the low population at the time, I do not know.
Be well, people of CoH.

CoH could hugely benefit from cross-server teaming/pvp arena.

I was under the impression that it wasn't the hardware technology that was the problem with cross-server instancing but rather the software iteration required to change the existing system.

Yeah, I think 'logging in' to the server is our testing.
Still here, even after all this time!
