Just typed into google, city of heroes tips and this website was the top one.

http://www.gamerstemple.com/games4/0...09t01.asp?pn=1

On that page too, read what it says here.

Quote:
If you’re in a dangerous zone, patrol near a police sentry gun location such as a hospital, zone gate, or train station. If things get a little dicey, make a beeline for the sentry guns. You won’t get experience for the criminals that the guns take out, but at least you’ll survive and not rack up experience debt. Be careful not to be too close to an enemy when he is zapped by a gun or you may be taken down by the gun as well.

It goes good piece of information, good piece of information . . . . then what?! Are you being serious?!?!

I hope somebody thinks this is real!

Have you tried it? Maybe it's true.

Nice find, btw.

It's not true that happens, I've been hit by that laser when It killed some mobs and nothing happened, but I guess that really goes without saying.

There should be another piece of advice that says,

"If you're patrolling in a zone that's close to your level, don't fight near police drones, because the wonky AI of street mobs practially guarantees that as soon as you get them down to 5-10% of their HP, they will flee directly into the line of fire of the drone and you'll get bupkiss."

Apparantly you only get xp if you defeat the entire mob too

Eh, I think that's because of their description which states that accidents happen (they don't, really). It's an ingame justification why police drones aren't everywhere. They just pwn everything; there would be no need for heroes.

Actually, wasn't that a bug that happened within the first few weeks of release back in '04. I vaguely remember hearing something like that years ago.

Heh, that'd be hilarious, in an ED-209 kind of way.

"Freeze villain! Drop your weapon!' ZZZHHHAAAP

"Yeah, get 'em drone!"

"Freeze hero! Drop your weapon!"

"Hey, what are you...no stop I'm Martial Arts and" ZZZHHHAAAPPP

"Have a good day, citizen!"

Probably had to cut it down to get the Teen rating.

That's some funny stuff right there. Sounds like something that someone told someone that told someone that told a new player. And thus urban legends are born.

No, it says you don't get the inf bonus from the victim if you don't take out the whole mob, which is absolutely correct. The civilian doesn't run up and say "Thanks!" and give you the bonus influence/prestige if you take out one of three enemies.

Thank you, Champion.

If that one was the last one of the group, or if it was the runner, yes you do.

I like the one where they tell you to fight near the trainer, and if things get out of hand, to lead the enemies to the trainer, where the gathered players will "be more than happy to help out."

Unless they're in a full-screen window, like ... I don't know.... THE TRAINING WINDOW... and don't know the enemy is there, until it kills them. But, hey! You don't get any debt!

I loved this one:

Quote:
When selecting a travel power go with super speed unless you really have a strong desire to fly, leap, or teleport. You spend a lot of your time online getting from one place to another and none of the travel powers can get you around the zones as efficiently as super speed."
Yes SS is really useful in IP, Kings Row, Grandville, Talos, and every zone where there's ledge higher than you can jump.

made me chuckle

While I found the link entertaining it was probably more accurate than most of the game guides out written by that one company whose name is eluding me at the moment.

total kick to the gut

I hope no one is still using that guide to play by.

In the blaster section it says to 6 slot your powers for damage and that Devices is by far the best secondary, because you don't have to slot accuracy if you have Targeting Drone.

Which was true.......in Issue 4.

Not getting XP for mobs you drag into the drones has been around as long as the game, IIRC; it was put in to eliminate the ability of players to hit mobs much higher than they were, then pull them to a police drone, who defeats them, and getting partial credit for a mob that they would have had no chance of defeating on their own, which with the XP bonus for mobs higher than you could be much better than defeating mobs your level. This could have been exploited heavily in the early game, when there were mobs that didn't have any ranged attacks, so that once aggroed you could drag them anywhere without having to worry that they'd faceplant you from range.

Prima?

I still have their old Everquest: Kunark guide from ten years ago. It's good reading for the lulz.

"Here's a way to make the best tanker and deffender.People want deffenders on their team to heal them and attack from a distance, deffenders are not meant for solo play at all. Make a deffender with empathy and phycic powers, it'll do decent damage with the phycic powers and will heal your allys very efficiently. Now for the tanker. Tankers are meant for taking the damage and distracting the enimy from attcking the more frail heroes. When starting of get an attack power at level 2 and 4 and then get deffensive powers from there on.It will make your tanker virtually invincible, good for solo play and a must have for any team."
...There are so many things wrong with that paragraph.

So many things... *twitch*

Them's the ones. I think they wrote them from press releases from marketing departments and never from actually playing.

this would be an amazing prank for the developers to play on april fools day, change all the drones to hostile..the forums would momentarily go nuclear, and several people would be "slapped in the face" but i'd nearly pee myself laughing.
