Going Rogue Side Switching Poll

I have a Stalker whose bio is already setup to be redeemed. I might move my Fire / TA Corr over as well, or at least make him grey enough to run blue side.

I'm not sure if badges will entice me to move my main Hero into the shade. We'll see.

On second thought, I'm going to move a least 1 hero over to move inf to red side.

Without knowing exactly what all the pros and cons are to switching sides versus "staying true" are yet I'm not sure what my final plans are going to be with this. But I figure at the very least I'll switch one of my top badgers over and keep the other true so that I can get the best of both choices if necessary.

Every villain I have is switching simply to escape the crappy redside market.

Virtually all my villains (around 40+) will go Rogue to take advantage of the blue-side TFs. Very few of my heroes will go dark, though a few will finally become vigillantes they are now.

The one thing I AM doing is choosing 1 villain, pushing him full hero and using him as a "mule" to bring recipes red-side that I need. Will it take a while to do? Yes, but until they actually adress the insult that is the red-side recipe market this is the best we can do.

My existing characters probably won't make very much use of the full side-switching mechanic. Most of them were made before we knew about the possibilities, and their stories weren't crafted with that knowledge in mind. Given that, most of them have stories that aren't very open to the possibility of completely changing sides.

I'd be making more use of the vigilante/rogue alignments, I think. Several heroes would likely go vigilante in order to be able to rampage around the rogue isles a bit, and some of my less flat-out evil villains might go rogue and occasionally visit paragon in a less violent manner.

Where these features would really come into play for me would be with new characters. Many for whom side-switching wouldn't even come into the story would still start in praetoria before moving to their appropriate side, just for the new low level content and ability to start as any AT, and some concepts are rattling around in the back of my head for full fledged villains/heroes who would start out on one side and then change over.

I don't like the mood/atmosphere of villainside, so I think most of my villains are going blueside, at the very least to Rogue level, probably to Vigilante level, and possibly all the way to Hero. Certainly the ones created later, after I got tired of all the red-and-black of Grandville.

At least one, my Night Widow, is staying villainside, since I'm not sure if EATs are allowed to side-switch (I know this was mentioned sometime, but I forget what the answer was), and it'll feel weird to bring her heroside anyway. Probably another character, my EM/DA Brute, is staying villainside, since I've pretty much abandoned that character because I dislike Dark Armour. (Yes, this is despite playing the EM/DA to 50. I'm stubborn.)

I might leave another villain character I like playing (either my Bots/Dark MM or Thugs/Poison MM) villainside, to see what the reward is for "staying true".

I don't have any plans to side-switch any of my heroic characters. Maybe I might move over one of those I don't play much anymore, just to see what it's like, but I doubt I'll have the time, what with the new content.

Brand new characters are most likely to start in Praetoria for the New Shiny factor. First one in Loyalists, and subsequent ones possibly in Resistance to see what it's like. I know the Loyalists are supposed to be the Evil faction (as much as there's Good vs Evil in Praetoria, anyway), but more importantly to me they're the more Lawful (in D&D terms) faction. After that, I don't see any of them going villainside, although the Praetoria content might change my mind.

Last I recall reading every character can switch and switch back but only the 10 basic ATs can start in Praetoria. Kheldians and VEATs have to start at home and move later.

My answer depends on how difficult it is to cross over. However, I am hoping it is reasonable. Since I have all my villains on Protector and all my heroes on Pinnacle, I had to just take a risk and use the free server transfer deal to move characters over. I hope that the difficulty won't be such that I don't take them all over.

So, not counting any Demon Summoning characters I may make, I plan to bring over:

3 Masterminds
7 Dominators
2 Corruptors

I won't take any Heroes to villain side. I may take one character through the new Going Rogue Praetorian World content .... maybe an Electric Controller.

Both of my VEATs and one other villain will go Rogue. None of my heroes will be side-switching at all.

I have two villains who will definitely switch sides, one of which was never really a villain to begin with, but a creature put into poor circumstances, and the other who actually turned away from baseless murder as his brain began to recover and develop emotion (It's a very long story). My heroes, however, will all stay safely on the continent they started in. I tend to not make very wishy-washy characters and can't rationalize them switching sides other than making them do it because I can all of a sudden. I'm mostly looking forward to being able to play any archetype in any setting, which is something I've wanted since the start of CoV.

I will probably make a warshade who is specifically designed to go evil if only because I'm curious if I can or not (Will voides spawn in the streets? Can that even *happen* in CoV?)

I will be making a number of Praetorian specific characters, including one time/dimension traveling character who I'll mostly be using to explore Praetorian content, and another who is going to be a demon summoning Clock-Work because that idea tickles my giggle button.

I'll also be remaking many characters, such as scrappers, defenders, and tankers, into archetypes I much prefer, such as brutes and corrupters, which may necessitate that they become praetorian as well, in which case I'll mostly like conclude that they accidentally fell into another dimension and all simultaneously got amnesia until returning or something equally as lame.

Side switching was never a priority for me so mostly I'll make some Praetorians and see what's what.

I suspect that my prediction of mass exodus from red to blue will prove out. They have ignored red side's needs for so long that it basically stands to reason.

I personally think that introducing a side switching mechanic into the game before doing more to even out both sides is silly...but I guess it's more important(and easier) to get all the villain ATs cluttering up Atlas than to actually add some exclusive red side zones, content and starting contacts. Not to mention the shovel-feeding of longbow as the main enemy for so much of a villain's life.

And yes, I purposely left out the market as a reason because more players on red would mean a livelier market place anyway...

Out of all of my characters, the only one I have plans on switching alignment with is my Mercs/Storm MM, Major Thunderstorm. He was the henchman of a mad-scientist type villain who took his weather control device after his boss got busted and went into the mercenary business. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to reimagine him and his squad as an A-Team type group.

All of my other existing characters have their alignments pretty much set in stone by their backstories.

All of my redsiders except perhaps two will be shuffled over to blue, depending on whether or not I can get interested enough.

A bluesider or two might be shuffled to red if they finally face the enormity of what they are and decide that they don't care about the ideals of their compatriots.

For my main, I'm still hesitating because on one hand, there are badges redside, and on the other hand, there's supposed to be rewards for people who never side-switch. Depending on what the reward is and how it works, I'll either go Vigilante briefly to pick up bagdes and then go back to full Hero, or just make my secondary badge collector (who is slated to go Vigilante either way) into my primary.

My Robots/Poison MM is definitely making the transition fully to Hero. Aside from that, I have characters that will stay mostly where they are, or move towards grey to visit the other side and faciliate setting up RP scenes (and some might want to take the "opportunities to subvert the other side"). I can't really say exactly who will wind up where until I see the actual mechanics.

Nitoichi is definately going grey. I've been working on the plotline for it since HeroCon, and it's been slowly happening IC since February. She may go villain and then wend her way back.

Not a 50, but Leannan may go grey.

Everyone else is staying put, either because I play them once in a blue moon, or they wouldn't.

Credit where credit is due, this idea came from Golden Girl, and while it would have been off topic for the thread it came up in, I thought it a good enough idea to warrant a thread of it's own. So to get the ball rolling:

Huh. Counting up I have seven Heroes and seven Villains that are actually seriously being worked on or already level 50. Out of my Heroes, four will become Vigilantes, but none will go full Villain (at this time). Out of the Villains, two maybe three will Go Rogue, and one will go full Hero. There is one that will be restarted as a Demon Summoner, but I don't know yet if he will follow Desdemona's lead. And just for the sake of thoroughness, I have one character concept who will start as a Tyrant Loyalist, but I don't know yet which way his story will go.
It's a tough call really.

I can see my main working as a hero in RI for instance, but I couldn't see her going to the point of Punisher to get there for instance.

And she uses blades/guns.

Now, my Elec/Thermal Corr, RaveSpider, for sure! But she's more in the line of Black Cat/Catwoman anywaysrofessional theif, thrill seeker, part time hero, sugar junkie. Seems easy enough to go Rogue with her.

My new DS/DM MM will be going Rogue if not full hero. I haven't decided how good she'll go yet. I'll more than likely have her go to Vigilante status.

That...is a very interesting question. I'd be eager to hear the answer.

When they first announced that they wanted to put in side-switching a couple of years ago, I made a stalker that was really a hero working in the Rogue Islands. Any time she had a mission against Longbow, or any other good groups, she would stealth past them and only take out the objectives of the mission. In the various stories I've writeen with her, any time she would be sent to take someone out, she faked their deaths and smuggled them out of the Islands to someplace safe. I had hoped to bring her to Paragon somewhere around level 25, splitting her career equally between the sides. Unfortunately it has taken them until now to get the system in place. So she will be the first. Her two cousins who are undercover with her may switch now or later. I am not sure.

I have a controller who I think will "walk the line" between hero and villain.

Beyond that, I am not sure.

All my hero's will stay as heroes. However I will create a MM, and a Demon summoner that will probally do the crossover to join them.

I will be moving my WM/EA brute to blue side just because there isn't enough STRONG and PRETTY there

I also plan on at least taking my redside badger just to get more badges and I have a stalker that was created with side switching in mind. He will go all the way hero.

(Yes I have a WM/EA and I wasn't kidding!)

I have one creation that will go from red to blue, and one creation that will walk the 'grey area'. Other than that, hadn't thought that far ahead.
