Animated Tails are coming
I thought we'd get separate tails. Or animated tails. But both? At the same time? Please high five everyone in the office who had a hand in this particular project for me.

The newly posted Dark Mirror stuff is now a bit more tantalizing, but really not much more informative, though it does confirm a few more things i suspected. It sounds like the Dark Mirror will use tech like the custom AE critters to create an enemy who duplicates your powers. If that includes veteran and booster pack powers, but not inspirations (and i'm guessing those would remain player only), and your "dark mirror" duplicates your every move... Self Destruction->Wakie->laugh maniacally. (Edit: On a team that would pose the possibility of massive collateral damage to teammates. Something i'm actually pretty comfortable with. )
Anyway, the new mail things to alts option is intriguing, but i wonder if (and hope that) there will be a fee for inf transfers and mailing items. i personally think that the game economy could use more ways to remove inf from the system.
Villains need a mirror arc as well IMO.
Anyway, it sounds like there will be a good number of QOL improvements even if it's another update without much in the way new missions/arcs. i expect most of that will be in GR anyway.
The revamp of Posi's TF is long overdue, and i've been saying that the final mission should take place in the Faultline dam map ever since Faultline was revamped.
Overall it will have a lot of stuff i've been wanting for a while. And animated tails was pretty high on that list. i've got a few lizardy and fuzzy beast critters that have been wanting them for over five years.

Issue 17: Dark Mirror features two new Hero and two new Villain story arcs for levels 2030. Each of these story arcs has four missions, and the story arcs highlight the Dark Mirrors sinister new enemy. Acquire first Hero story arc in Talos Island, and the first Villain arc in Sharkhead Isle. |
I've been waiting for this for 6 years now.
Since the first day I stepped into CoH beta I said, "I wish the tail would move."
Next up fox tail and I can die happy.
You know, it's funny. I asked about the separation of belts and tails at the Comic-Con panel last year, and it was just one of those "off the top of my head" kind of questions. Posi explained the whole node concept to me and the room and essentially said "maybe, but we're almost out of nodes, and we want to make sure that they're all used for unique, awesome stuff."
Cool to see that my question wasn't completely out of left field after all! My dragon girl will be very happy to get to wear a belt with her tail now...plus it'll be all swishy and stuff

Still hoping to get tech/magic wings that are pods/nacelles that extend fans of light/energy when in use that just angle and shift in response to movement instead of flapping. But that's just me.

*sigh* Yeah, i have no idea how i missed that when reading through the announcement. Maybe the hypothetical quivers will be in 17 as well.

*meh* It just makes me want to post all sorts of furry-boosting pics, links and comments when someone acts like that, and i'm not particularly interested in furries. BUT i do have access to Google. Ah, Google, how the market for brain bleach would suffer without you.

Seriously, though, I've had enough grief trying to beat back the latest "hate craze" in this game, be it anti-furry, anti-anime, anti-fantasy, anti-ordinary or whatever else happens to have people trying to paint its fans in an indignant way.
I'm just happy we're getting animated tails. Seriously. I've tried adding tails to my characters before, but the ones we have now are just so BUTT UGLY that I could never really justify that. I had a lizard character I wanted to stick one to, but he needed a belt and the Lizard tail is terrible, just off the top of my head. And the "I sat down on binding wire" so-called demon tail is... I don't want to insult anyone. Suffice it to say I'm using one, but I'd REALLY love it if it were better and animated. Actually, just animated will do, it's good enough in terms of basic model.
I can't wait Champions' tails were a little odd, as they seemed to stay perpendicular to the body a lot of the time, but we'll see what ours do. Hope to see it on Test soon.

As long as you're not harming anyone else feel free to knock yourself out lusting after imaginary fetishes |
Be well, people of CoH.
Does anyone else think we'll be seeing the new Super Booster pack around when Issue 17 comes out? Mutant this time around, right?
Seems like it might be a prime time to push a new set of costume set for purchase with animal heads, if you ask me. |
FACT the upgrade has the same goodies that a booster pack has, costumes, emotes and a power:
Alpha and Omega themed auras
Alpha and Omega themed costumed sets
Four stance emotes
The Shadowy Presence invisibility power
FACT the price difference between the Going Rogue expansion and the complete collection is $10, the same price a booster pack is.
FACT the only content difference between the Going Rogue expansion and the "Complete Collection" is that the complete collection has 1 month of free play, CoH as well as Going Rogue expansion installation files and the already mentioned goodies.
OPINION: the Complete Collection extra goodies (which is available as a $10 upgrade) is basically our next booster pack quota for the time being.

BaB mentioned he was working on Animated Tails in a Tweet over a month ago, where have you folks been.
Personally, I'm more stoked over:
In-Game E-mail: You can now use in-game e-mails to send Influence/Infamy to your own characters or to other players' characters via in-game e-mails.
Mission Architect Improvements
Experience: You can now handpick the powers for custom enemies and still receive experience for them (within game balance limits).
New Maps: We have added approximately 20 new unique maps.
Giant Monsters: You can now add giant monsters to some outdoor maps.
Exit Mission on Complete: You can now specify that players have to leave the mission manually on completion.
Escort Missions: "Lead to place" technology allows you more control over escort objectives.

I seriously doubt it because of the Going Rogue complete collection upgrade is comming out which will basically be another booster pack.

My guess is, we'll see the GR pre-order, then in a while ( along with, or soon after Issue 17 ) the Mutant Pack, then after quite some time the GR "Complete Collection".

Wait, they attach to the lower body? I can combo a tail and robe? My demon can have both belt and spade tail? Tell us there's a wolf/fox tail as part of the suite and you can push everything else back to Going Rogue for all I care.

Arc #48845 - Operation: Dirty Snowball
Animated tails are not capes. They're nearly identical to how we do wings, but a much simpler rig. (Not too much more expensive than a bow when you really get down to it.)
They've also been put on their own costume node and will now show up under "Lower Body". Which will mean you can do a Belt and a Tail (animated or static) on the same character. Unfortunately, that means the tails under the belt category are being flagged as legacy. So if you want to keep your current, non-animated tail, you'll still need to go in and select that costume part from the lower body the next time you edit your costume at the tailor. |
Hey, sweet! Now we just need goggles separate from horns and I'll be all set to buy that lifetime subscription

So... Not complaining, as there's a lot of awesome here.
One question, though - is *anything* getting added to base computers, since Silver Mantis is available outside of it now?
Or more tails. Yes; not only does it make sense, but the upcoming Mutant Pack might well have costume parts that need this update to work in the first place.
and so is this video...
