Animated Tails are coming
*Looks at subject line*
Oh my. That's VERY animated.

I've yet to make a char that has a tail, though in the cases where I was close to using one it came down to a decision of either having a tail or A SNAZZY BELT.
The snazzy belts win sorry, but hey if the new tails don't take up the belt slot then that would be cool. |
I was just gonna say this. It's way past time tails got moved off the belt-rack. But not to the back slot please. Maybe a separate section under Lower Body, like Detail 1 and Detail 2 are under the Head section.

I just had a thought...
will animated tails count towards the 1cape rule? I sure hope not, cause i'd be devastated if i cannot use the bat wings with a tail... eidt: yes i can't type... *mutters* |
They've also been put on their own costume node and will now show up under "Lower Body". Which will mean you can do a Belt and a Tail (animated or static) on the same character. Unfortunately, that means the tails under the belt category are being flagged as legacy. So if you want to keep your current, non-animated tail, you'll still need to go in and select that costume part from the lower body the next time you edit your costume at the tailor.
Great. As if Virtue needed more reasons for catgirls/bois.....
Oo! Oo! My first ever "After a redname!" Woot, I win teh interwebz!
Don't get your hopes up. Chances are that the animated tail will consume the cape system slot your character is allowed.

Does anyone else think we'll be seeing the new Super Booster pack around when Issue 17 comes out? Mutant this time around, right?
Seems like it might be a prime time to push a new set of costume set for purchase with animal heads, if you ask me.

I'm pretty sure they won't - BAB Tweeted a while back that he was working on separating tails from belts.

[thinking] I wonder if "butt capes" could be moved to the lower slot, so you don't just have the tails in the lower slot. You'll have the choice of butt cape or tail in the lower slot, or wings and tail in the upper slot. So, for instance, wings and trenchcoats would be a possible combination.
It seems like fate hates you today, my friend

Brings up another question: togas with proper animated capes? Trenchcoats with animated tails?
Be well, people of CoH.

OK, so that means they're actually animated, rather than PhysX. Cool Do they have special animations for different movement like wings do? I don't assume they'd react to power animations, will they?

Tell us more about the nodes! Did your coders add one to the underlying rig? Move one? Use up the last one? What does this bode for back-items?

I would think it would clip, so it might be disallowed, but technically speaking there should be no problem with it. Unless as I said, it is made to use the lower slot or actually uses the lower slot.
I would think capes with tails wouldn't be a problem, though. While most will clip, there should be a few "split" options (or the scarf) which wouldn't clip most of the time.

I hope there are a few more "node changes", like shoulder harnesses and chest emblems being separated.

The "One cape rule" is "no more than one cape or capelike costume part per character"; more capes per character significantly adds to lag. Fortunately that doesn't apply to these tails.
Or more tails. Yes; not only does it make sense, but the upcoming Mutant Pack might well have costume parts that need this update to work in the first place.
