Well, that sounds like an interesting business decision from NC Soft. I was actually in the process of writing a long post showing why but I think it should be fairly obvious that they are just being greedy here. I hope they will see in the end that this doesn't pay off but I guess that depends on how many of us our willing to not go for the crappy pre-purchase deal.

They are effectively offering 3 different price points ($25 [after taking out the free month], $30 and $40 [assuming a $10 item pack]) depending on exactly what set of perks you want and when you want them.
Certainly a tad overcomplicated; what will seal the deal for me, is knowing how much the additional goodies will be. I suppose I can wait until July to play with the new powersets in earnest, if it means a decent amount of savings.
i really hoped there was at least 1 addition toon slot that came with a package

Ok not nearly that bad but man oh man what greed can do to people. It's sad. I am quite sure many players can barely afford to play this game with today's economic state but that doesn't stop companies from screwing us over whenever possible. Why should video games be any different. I am sure some of these company execs would sell their kids if it meant turning an extra buck.
Well, I am not too upset with NC Soft but will not be getting GR early. I want to know exactly what's in it first and then make up my mind. This game has been underwhelming for the last while and I can't assume GR is going to revolutionize this game. I hope it will and make me eager to play again. Sadly, I haven't logged into this game for a bit. So much potential...help us War Witch, you're our only hope...

Makes 'this' country great? Well, I agree Canada is pretty great so I agree with you there.
dude, its 15 bucks(at max valuation, i haven't paid that much for a month in years) that is about how much i earn on break in a day. perceived value is what it is, I can play two powersets months before the expansion comes out, if that is worth the "15 dollar " difference, then there you go, if not, then you can wait and get the boxed set. It isnt greedy, and it isnt squeezing anyone, it is offering a unique option ahead of time, period.

The problem, they offering a crapload of packs, without EXACTLY telling you what is in it. Why on earth would i play 20-40 euro for 2 sets and kept in the dark what the whole GR gonna be? (i bet 10 bucks, a chain of missions and *poof* you are on the other side to continue grinding and farming). Dual pistols aint that great, demon summoning with the f00ked up AI probably gonna be nothing more then some eye candy.
Hell they even gave out more Aion 3.0 info or B&S, then a 'soon to be release' expension for City of Heroes. Why i'm so pissed about it? I got 5 accounts, we're talking 200+ euro if the new expansion is worth it, is it that weird i'm pretty pissed off they give **** on information? (yes, on that Certain Other game, i could buy a lifetime sub for that money, imaging that).
Look here, 20 pages with alot of questions.. all we have is 1 first post with some little info.

Possibly I happen to be blind and have missed it but do we know if the GR expansion will include some extra character slots/slot tokens?
And if not could the relevant people finally get around to sorting out a method for those of us without credit cards to purchase extra slots?
Don't get me wrong, I love CoH but sometimes it seems as though NCSoft don't actually *want* my money - lord knows they make it difficult enough to give it to them at times...

As for the whole "gift of loyalty" versus "evil scam of doom" argument, both sides need to grow the hell up.
1: It's a way to get more money in the coffers NOW. Companies like doing that. Some of us will be giving the money up NOW.
2: View it as a scam if you like. It doesn't mean you're even remotely correct. It's a business transaction. You pay, you get something. It would only be a scam if we didn't get what we paid for.
3: This has absolutely NOTHING to do with loyalty. See point 1.
I'll be getting the early pre-order. Why? Because I want to play Dual Pistols on live. Hopefully I'll get to help beta test Ultra mode with the shiny new hardware I have. If Ultra mode tanks, I'll at least have gotten to play DP for a while before I take another leave of absence.
If I'm still around to test Going Rogue and I get invited to that, I'll test away. If IT isn't worth hanging around for, last paragraph applies.
Option 1 for pre-order suits my purposes. I'm not buying it out of loyalty and they are selling it out of gratitude. No scam involved from either side.
