Massively gives is a pretty good write-up. I am sure anyone that has played this game for over a month would concur. The repetition in this game is savage and the main reason I stray! It's true!

Also, this just in, other related/surprising news: the sky is blue!

He makes a good point; Warwitch was the one behind the Faultine revamp, which does have some fairly unique maps in it, too.

That kind of change would require a lot of map changes - not just warehouses, but also of offices and caves. A lot of work for a minimum of immediately visible impact.

It's one of the reasons I expect GR to offer 'the' new player experience while the current CoH and CoV starting areas will remain untouched.

Yeah, I'd have to say that article hit the nail on the head. It's time to address the biggest longstanding criticism of the game , which is repetitive warehouse and office maps. I disagree with the opposition to re-skinning, I think even a map re-skinned is a nice change of pace. Today I ran the troll rave mission with the disco warehouse, and even that small difference in the map made it more pleasant to play.

Yes Posi did a wonderful job with very difficult additions he implemented, but the repetitive mission maps are a problem.

I don't mind the warehouses, just get rid of the damn caves!

The warehouse map is like going to the house of an old friend. It's familiar, welcoming, and you know right where s/he keeps the cookies.

The repetitiveness is wearing on me, too. I suggest we start going back and simply remove anything that's repetitive. The following are additions from just the past 14 months which are just the same old thing over and over and should be completely banned:

One

Two

Three

And one of the most egregious examples is four and five which is just about exactly the same!

Six

Seven

Eight

Nine

We do need Nemesis steampunk maps though
Mlta are maybe ok with no map set of their own, as that fits their covert ops theme - but the Banished Pantheon need some non-Euclidean temples, instead of just using caves and Thorn dungeon maps.
Carnies need their own maps too - some sort of theater/ballroom place with a totally over the top style.
Devouring Earth should have something like caves, but actually made out of living plants and creatures - and have vines and tentacles sort of like traps built into the walls and floors.
Lower level gangs like Skulls, hellions and Warriors are ok to have using warehouses as hideouts, I think - but the higher level factions should have their own unique look for their lairs.

I feel vindicated for that thread I made last week... but not in a good way.

I would really like some new maps and a better program for assigning mob placements in the new maps though.

(BTW, this plan is blessed because as I typed this post, chocolate fell off of my shelf and onto my hands. What greater sign of auspicious augury is there??)

Yep I'm always a big supporter of new maps/tilesets. And yes even 're-skinned' maps/tilesets would be a bonus.

I just remember, probably about 4 or so years ago, when I was leveling a Storm/Dark Def. up (that I deleted a few months later ) and was on a team and we all saw for the very first time a tech office lab layout/tileset. We were all like, "oooooh, look it's pretty! and so different than the regular office layouts!"

Obviously 4+ yrs later and uh...yeah....not so much now. Just need to have 'parts' of maps/tilesets that can mix-n-match; basically have the missions auto-generate (somehow, standard code rant ) different 'pieces' to make a 'new' map.

I really do enjoy some of the more creative maps (like the last map for the Synapse TF (if I'm thinking of the correct one) or the Dr. Vahz map...etc...

They're also the best maps for jousting. I love playing in warehouse maps, I get to bounce as much as I want. Never have as much fun on office, cave or outdoor maps.

This. It's not like the other MMOs aren't repetitive.

Wow. Someone has a lot of time on their hands. Good work! If you dig a bit more I am sure you could come up with more of my posts that take a similar tone. Well, keep trying Oh, I missed your contribution to the thread. I'll look twice. I'm sure you're not here just to be a 'troll' as, I believe, it's termed. Heavens no, not you. The be all mod of the CoX forums!

Now, if you could only come up with something of your own...maybe one day

Oh, this? The forum search and linkage tools are very easy to use. Takes almost no time at all. If you want, I can write you up a guide teaching you how to use them.

Ok, so you linked your old posts/guides. Good work. I am sure someone can use them. I am sure the new players may review them. I still fail to see how you contributed to this thread, other than being a 'troll'. You didn't make any points about the article or form your own opinion on the topic. Instead, you decided to directly attack me and not put anything (for or against) into the thread. Ah well. Your posts in this thread speak volumes of your character and intellect Good work!

I really don't see how linking your old posts is adding to the discussion. Must be the new book learnin' you crazy kids are doing these days

I don't mind warehouses.
But don't get me started on offices and labs. ò_Ó

That article forgot to mention the awesomeness that is Striga. More zones like Striga and Faultline, please!

We live in a game where the majority of our content is within instances. Of course there will be map repetition. A larger map pool would not be a bad thing but overall I think it is a good tradeoff to what it could be.
