Anybody got any "WTF?" moments?

I meant that, redside, they only appear in those arcs. Blueside, they appear in the Shadow Shard, yeah.

On this mission I ran into not just my first Cyst, but my second, third, forth, and dare I say it, my FIFTH Cyst!

No one believed the person scouting in front of the team when he said he found a forth Cyst, we all thought he was joking and didn't believe him until we targeted through him and saw it for ourselves. You can imagine our reactions when our scout found the fifth Cyst (we didn't believe him then either). The team decided to disband after we realized we still had to defeat 2 more Cysts to free the last few hostages.

Mine are both due to known glitches in the game.

The first happened about 3 months into playing the game. I was in Steel Canyon on my scrapper and I forget what I was doing but I left either a store or the university and ran to my current mission door. When I got there the mission door wouldn't open. That wasn't my WTF Moment though. I wasn't sure what to do and didn't yet know how to contact support for help, so I decided to try to find another player to ask them. That's when I noticed there were no other players on the streets of Steel Canyon. Not only that, there were no mobs either. And no civilians, and no cars, and even Posi and Valkyrie had gone missing. It was a total 28 Days Later WTF moment to be in a completely empty city. I basked in the weirdness of it for a little while and then logged out. When I logged back in everything was fine.

The second was last winter during the holidays. I was running BNY missions with a team on my dom and at one point I went back to the Ski Chalet for some reason. When I got to the mission door the rest of the team was inside and just as I clicked the mission door, someone used Team TP on me. The result was I ended up inside the mission, but outside the map. Instead of being in the woods outside of Croatoa, I was in a completely deserted Croatoa by myself. I could see my teammates on the map but I couldn't get to them. I think I had to wait until they finished the mission so I could exit. Again is was kind of cool, but I don't think I got any mission credit because I wasn't on the map. This has happened to me at least one other time since then - on a map where you have to get past a bunch of Longbow onto a cargo ship.

Just last night I had more of a PITA moment than a WTF moment. I was soloing a bank mission on a Rad/EM blaster and I got the "stop the jailbreak" side mission. Everything went well until I energy punched the last minion and he got knocked back through one of the reinforced jail doors. At that point he was trapped inside and I had no way to get to him. Ironically that side mission failed when I couldn't arrest the last minion, because he was already in jail!

Back when I was new to the game, and had just visited Independence Port for the first time, I logged out before I saw any 5th Column. Turns out I logged out right next to a spawn point, because when I logged back in there was this guy in a grey suit with a rifle looking at me. I thought, "Hmm.. That's an interesting costume," thinking that this was another hero. Then, the !@#$ shot me!

Thanks all.. THAT explains that. And it reminded me of another WTF moment that may very well have been caused by the same thing.

I did a radio mission on Talos where I was supposed to free the kidnap victim. I walked in and the entire 3 story map was filled with nothing but citizens with "Kidnap victim" or something like that listed as their Villain Group. Of course I wasn't able to attack a single one of them. I figured it was a bug but headed up and found my REAL Kidnap victim. The problem was he was surrounded by this undefeatable, I can't attack you, group of VILLAINS??? LOL I sent a petition and the GM that arrived, who I am pretty sure thought I as nuts until he came inside and saw for himself, ended up auto-completing it so I could move on.

I think that qualifies as a WTF???? a mission full of victims that have kidnapped one of their own LOL

Oh Mousedriod I had this same thing happen to me once in Faultline. I was on an 8 man team and exited a mission. I guess everyone else came out normally but I ended up in my own little completely empty zone. I even tried to escape by using the gate and heading to Skyway.. wouldn't let me do that either I had to LOG off and back On.. then get reinvited to the team before I could continue.

I thought of two more, both involving Giant Monsters.

A long time ago, I fought Deathsurge with about two teams IIRC. Almost immediately after beating him, he respawned about 15 feet from the group and we immediately attacked him again and took him down again. Then we see in broadcast: "Deathsurge is up! just south of Aeon City!" and the ones we fought were north of Aeon City. Three Deathsurges in about 15 minutes. WTF?

A few days ago I was running through Kings Row and I jumped over a wall and landed on a Paladin. I turned to run from it and found two more Paladins in my path. I barely managed to get away, but I never expected to get attacked by three of them at once.

Ditto.
I remember it vividly, we were in IP laying the beatdown on a big spawn outside our mission door, my kat/regen scrapper, and my pals with their EB/Dev blaster and fire/mace tank. Finished off that last lieutenant and WOOOAAAAAAHAHHOOOOH!

I'm sure I've had plenty, although I can only remember one. And I don't even know if it qualifies as a 'WTF moment'. Perhaps more a 'Woah'.

Me and a friend had only just signed up, and we were running around Kings on our level six-or-so blasters. We'd heard from some players we'd teamed with that the Clockwork that we'd seen around the city would sometimes gather in Kings Row, and make a big clockwork named 'Paladin'. If you destroyed the construction, you got a badge. It sounded fun!

So when the team disbanded, we decided that we'd go and look for this clockwork construction. We climbed in and around so much of Kings Row that afternoon, getting excited every time we saw one of those little two-clock construction jobs. It looked like the clockwork they were constructing was at least twice the size of regular clockwork! We went around smashing up all these rooftop construction sites (At least the workers. It wouldn't let us target the construction for some reason). We were starting to get a little confused, as we'd destroyed so many constructions, but hadn't got the badge. We must be getting close to the Paladin one now.

I decide that if we're gonna carry on at this rate, I'm gonna need some fuel. I tell my friend "Brb. Gonna grab some coffee", and type '/afk'. It was at this point that a twenty foot-tall clockwork titan named 'Paladin' leaped up from the park just to the right and below the road I was standing on, bottomed out my health bar in a fraction of a second, and then jumped back down to his hiding place. My friend couldn't stop laughing for about ten minutes while I stared at the monitor in disbelief.

It was that day that I learned of both Giant Monsters' sheer size, and of the infamous 'Paladin Park'.

I was on an escort mission red-side where I was mid-escort and I died. When I did, the escort (fighting variety) said something like "Please aid me, <member of enemy faction>". I revived, and my escort for a time sided with the mobs and started attacking me (actually, this has happened a couple of times).

One of my level 50s has a Cimeroran mission in his list...with the mission door in Peregrine Island.

Yesterday I logged on a lowbie blaster that I hadn't played in 39 days. He loaded up, defeated - and in Lord Winter's realm.

My favorite was a team I was on exiting a mission in Independence Port that was, for whatever reason, RIGHT NEXT to where Lusca decided to spawn while we were in the mission. We get done with the mish, la la la, we exit, KA-SMACK! We all just lay there for about five minutes going, "Um..." as Lusca is growling or rumbling or whatever the hell that noise Lusca makes is.

Then over the team chat:

"Was that there when we went in?"
"No, I think we'd have noticed."
"'Kay, just checking."

Do not taunt Happy Fun Drone.

Did you know that once a Police Drone aggros on something, it will hunt it down and destroy it? I was messing around with TP Foe in Skyway, when I teleported a Troll up in the air behind the drone. It noticed, but didn't get a shot off before the line of fire was broken. So it jumped off the edge and proceeded to zap every Troll in range down there. Then it cheerfully jumped back up to its normal position.

That made me go "WTF?", in a good way.

Yeah, there's that particular spot in KR where they tend to congregate if no one beats them down. I think they despawn shortly after 3 of them show up, but it can create a fun moment for a lowbie that's passing by. :^P

Basically too many 50's to count, but I'm generally a brute/scrapper/tank kind of guy.

It sounds like your client lost contact with the mapserver, but didn't realize it.

The Daedalus arcs take you out of Cimerora. Is this one of his missions?

I was once clearing an old mission on my level 50 peacebringer. Everything was conning gray and the mission was to defeat a boss and minions. The boss wasn't at the end of the mission map and it was one of those gigantic multi-floor lab mazes so I dutifully went through, eyeballing all of the mobs along the way.

Then the mission spontaneously completed itself. I stood there for a moment wondering exactly what had happened. I hadn't let off a single attack but somehow the sheer radiance of my PB had cowed the boss and his minions (wherever they were) into submission. BOSS_NAME and his VillainGroup crew would trouble Paragon no more!

One of my first WTF moments was when I was very new to the game, like 2 weeks in or so. I was on my level 10ish blaster in Steel Canyon. I had Hover and had been using it to get away from tough mobs if the fight went south. So I'm fighting some Outcasts and my health starts to dip, and I Hover up out of attack range to regen a bit. When I turn around to look at the spawn I had been fighting...and...ONE OF THEM WAS FLYING AFTER ME!!!! W!! T!! F!! (It was a Shocker, and I had never encountered a flying mob before.) He faceplanted me. That was also the first time I got to see the "flailing arms" falling while defeated animation.

Second big WTF was the first time a Freakshow rezzed. The crackle-sizzle sound, seeing that big-*** tank getting up...it sent a shiver up my spine and a WTF! to my lips. And my character's face into the floor.

Once I was logging in a level 25 Mind/Rad controller...and the CoV splash screen came up. Then the CoV music began to play. Then I was standing in Mercy Island, in the new-character spot. I was so stunned I didn't get a screenshot, dammit! While I was sitting there trying to figure out what to do (high on the list was "Bring some ***-kicking Justice to The Rogue Isles!") I got mapservered, then the game reloaded and I was in Atlas Park, in a part of the map that character had never visited before.

Last WTF moment for now. The first time I fell into The Gulch while crossing The Hollows (pre-revamp). Then some rocks (a pile of ROCKS! WTF!) woke up and sent me to the hospital.

Yeah, I looked up the Paladin on the wiki and learned about that afterward. I've been playing City for 4 and a half years and never encountered multiple Paladins before.

Another good WTF moment was my first encounter with a Rikti Pylon. "It's only yellow, I can take that eas-*faceplant*"

I'd have to say my biggest WTF moment was when I logged into atlas only to find a 15ft tall bald guy with man boobs and legs that seemed to stretch halfway across the zone dancing under the atlas globe. I guess someone had messed with the graphics somehow and made a guy with the bare chested male skin chest detail option, only with a female skeleton so it appeared as if it was a really muscular naked girl with the boob slider all the way up. It was hideous. The guy... girl... thing, made regular appearances in atlas for about a month or so.

I didn't think to take a screenshot, and quite honestly, I'm glad I didn't.

What was their name again? 'Klop' or something, I think.
