Okay. So here's a question. Looking at the costume it seems like it's been designed with players in mind (I'm not even sure if that's player or NPC, so yeah). Because of that I'm assuming it'll be available in the costume creator, given that's the current trend. And since it's tied to the resistance, I bet it's also unlockable.

Now, for parity's sake, the loyalists should also have an unlockable costume set (is it the clockwork set? or something we haven't seen yet?)... So the question is... SO THE QUESTION IS...! Can we unlock costumes from both Praetorian factions on a single character, if my above guesses are the case!?

The Devs have previously said the PraeClock costume would be unlockable in-game. After seeing this new Resistance costume, I'm pretty certain the PraeClock is the Loyalist analogue.

Also, the Devs have said that a single character could go back and forth on the alignment scales as many times as they wish. Since these costumes are faction tied (probably), I'd guess it'll be handled like the Vanguard costume: merits. You do X for the Loyalists/Resistance, you get a merit. Cash in Y number of merits for piece A/B/C/D/etc. So it'd just be a matter of doing the requisite feats and getting enough merits to get all the pieces you want.

At least that's my guess.

Tbh, I'd hope they simply unlock when you buy GR...
No more hunting VG merits for making a Vanguard character, thanks. That sort of thing is a killer of Fun

This is the kinda tidbits I have been talking about, now if we can honestly get this type of information at least 1 time per week for the coming weeks, I personally would be extatic >.> spell check.

Yay.

Wow, I hope not. I hear complaints all the time about how there are too many forms of currency in the game. To add another would be a mistake. I hope they unlock like the Roman armor if they must unlock at all.

I am sad for you Z. You of ALL people would love this costume. I really hope this is available to players not just a PC.

And is it just my junk comp or is this a really dark screeny?

Personally, I hope they're unlocked via missions. For example, the initiation missions unlock the set (since you're joining the club, you might as well look the part), or maybe there's a pair of TFs that cap the Praetoria story off that let you earn the costumes as a parting gift of sorts. I have nothing against the faction merits thing personally, but I'm just not sure how well it'd work in this situation.

Perhaps rather than merits, they tie it into the actual good/evil spectrum that you run through as you're doing Praetorian missions? If you go full Loyalist side, you can unlock all their stuff... and in order to get the resistance stuff, you have to go back to the other side, slowly working your way back to "neutral" first (of course, you wouldn't lose the parts in the process).

I think the biggest beef people have with merits and the like is that they seem like clutter. If it was more of a sliding scale in a different menu pane, I think most people would be fine with it.

Moving hair would be good. But wouldn't moving hair be more complex than a moving cape, if it were to look at all realistic? Yes, it's smaller but presumably it'd have a lot of flex points. And here's what BaBs posted on adding capes:

  • 100 NPCs - 3 capes = 92% loss in frame rate
So yes, there is a reason that we don't want players loading themselves down with multiple cape systems.
So either it's way simpler and less taxing on the graphic system to implement moving hair than I'm supposing, or expecting moving hair is unrealistic.

Fair points. So long as I can get those Resistance gloves (they look awesome!!!), I'm happy.

On a sidenote, aside from the thread that popped up a while back, I've never heard anyone complain about too many forms of currency. I haven't had an issue with them, nor has anyone I've played with (to my knowledge, of course). I don't see a particular problem with using merits, but if the Devs want to go a different route, that's cool, too.

On the other hand, rigid capes would look ridiculous, but we're used to rigid hair. So, it's POSSIBLE that they could have developed a system that lets you turn off moving hair in the options, which replaces the moving pieces with similar looking rigid ones. Looking at it that way, it's POSSIBLE at least.

...I know I'm grasping at straws here, but come on man! Let a guy have some hope!

Ok now you guys had better make the Loyalist factions look just as good, because it's going to kill me on the inside to have to beat up armor that beautiful.

It is a bit dark...so I brightened it up a bit just to see more stuff. I amped up the mid tones and highlights.

Is that a sword? Or War Axe?

Love the new badges, and that costume and new tunnel are awesome as well. Now, I just need GR!
