Instead of Speed Boost, have your friendly Kineticist cast Inertial Reduction instead. I find that makes a bigger difference than Speed Boost. Combat Jumping is the single best power you can have for this, of course. The Ninja Run power ought to be pretty handy for this, too, though I've not specifically tested it.

Super Jump or Zero-G pack worked better for me than Combat Jumping.

I didnt manage to get that badge on Starsman Prime last year, this year I tried again after a friend told me "it's impossible to do without the Ninja Run". At that point my head burst open and I ran back there and used Ninja Run, took me 3 attempts but got it. Ninja Run is PERFECT for this.

If you're going for the server record, sure. But setting that up is a huge chore compared to simply using a second build for SuperJump and adding in Ninja Run and Sprint. That's sufficient for Gold. Add in IR on top of that for truly amazing downhill speed.

Or, double IR.

Speed Boost has NO effect on the ability to do Speed Runs, so I definitely concur with Castle on getting Inertial Reduction.

Reason why I know that Speed Boost does nothing. I've gotten gold on both runs via Walk, and Internal Reduction.

Given that the ski slope badges are reaction-based, take practice to get right, and "require" certain powers to do well at, I'm surprised they haven't had a good looking-over and complete rewrite.

Actually, there are two sets of 3 or 6 total badges.

I am sure that's what you meant, but that might confuse people into thinking there are 18 of them... or some other multiple of 6.

Really Bab's? With that many goals to pass I would imagine a TP friend chain would be ineffective. Reason, many goals, 7 players that have to find their mark and press the power at the exact correct time.

Personally as I have said in earlier posts Inertial Reduction is your friend. Or take the acrobatics power or get the safeguard jump pack. That is if control is the problem.
Add Speed boost if Speed is the problem.

I agree with I found it almost impossible to do (and I had respecced my 2nd build with superspeed, combat jumping, and slotted them both with level 50 enhancers and swift/hurdle and also slotted those along with sprint).
I even had random players put speed boost on me.

After many attempts and several temper tantrums, I still was unable to achieve gold (on the expert ski/luge tube slope thing).

Then, someone gave me some pointers:
When skiing the expert slope, don't constantly press the sideways/turn buttons, this slows you down. Instead, quickly tap them to turn then release and just continue going forward. The less you move about and the longer you stay on the ground, the faster you will go.

*edit* also, staying in the middle of the tube is best. Bump/touch the sides and you slow down.

Following this, I finally got the gold medal. /e victory.

Also, having inertial reduction (the kinetic jump buff) helps quite a bit.

This year I tried it with Ninja Run, a jump pack, Sprint and a combination of all and still couldn't get the gold.

Still no buffs that give me movement control though.

49.5 unboosted. Mostly unboosted. I did get the enhancement station jump boost, so no Kin boosts. Super jump and sprint toggles on.

Tricks for success:
Jack Rabbit start: Dont just stroll through the gates. Start on the platform BELOW where the race starts. SJ up then on the decent pass through the gates to start the run at top speed. Saves a few seconds of acceleration.

Left, jump, right: Go left to the portal, then mini jump the up or down section, but dont skip the platform. You want to jump just enough to make it and keep sliding. You slow down in the air. For that reason again, go right for the straight run to the finish. It is possible to make a perfect jump on the left path by frosty, but its safer and oft faster to go right.

Perfection: Minimize touching the walls on the slope and gun it.

It is possible, just really hard to gold medal w/o boosts.

I was lucky enough to haul *** JUST quick enough for a Gold Medal on the amateur slopes.

It involved using Ninja Run and Sprint... I only used NR for the Superjump qualities, however.

I'm disappointed that I spent most of my time with Lord Winter and Baby New Year because despite the fact that I'm not specced for it, Ski Slope is really fun. I commend whoever originally designed it and look forward to trying it again next year.

Call me cheap, fine--but I'd still love to see these black-market-for-sale via some shady Candy Cane dealer hiding at the bottom. Even if it was some asinine amount like 2500 for bronze, 5000 for silver, and 7500 for gold, it'd still be more obtainable for me than the existing hyperactive FPS on meth.
