When do you like to walk?
I use 99.9% huge body type, it looks rediculous when they walk, try it.

I'll use it out of boredom. (Waiting for people to show up at a mission.)
I'll use it to show off an outfit.
RP, obviously.
And "just for the heck of it."
RPing.
Show off cossies.
To position my char easier for screenshotting or chairsitting or wallleaning purposes.

OMG! How like, totally kewl are these characters?!1
I for one never assumed a Walk power would ever become the most widely used "travel" power. I don't think even the people who have been suggesting we have the ability to walk in this game for years ever assumed they would use it 100% of the time themselves.
The Walk power is serving the exact purpose it was designed to serve: as a QoL improvement for those people who wanted it. I sometimes use it when the situation makes sense for it, which mostly means during RP and/or non-combat situations. It's quite obvious not everyone's going to use it all of the time and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who will never use it. That fact doesn't make its existence in this game a failure of some sort. One can almost think of it like a special emote that does a bit more than a standard emote, like the costume change emotes. I wouldn't consider a specific emote a waste of time even if I don't use it myself. *shrugs*
Basically the Walk power fills a small gap in movement abilities that made sense to be filled to provide a bit of realism to the game. That's all - nothing more or less. For what it's worth I am obviously glad it finally happened.

Roleplaying, of course! Whether social or in an in-character mission, it just looks classy. Well, unless you're a huge type who isn't this guy: The mechanical, disjointed swagger fits ADAOS to a T.
Also, I use it for testing staircases out in bases I'm building. Never thought about using it while waiting for Endurance to recover. Plus it shuts off toggles automatically too, good for really trimming down to get back to full power.
Pretty much never, as I previously stated in most of those other threads about the topic.
I'm glad you find it mesmerizing, but I'm in the group that finds female walk distasteful except for my one streetwalker character.
Actually, I will take the "never" back - since I have so many alts, I will occasionally try it on a character I haven't played in a while to see if it fits her. But it never does, except in the case of the streetwalker.

I used it once when it first came out and haven't used it since. Rping isn't my thing and I don't enjoy moving at a snails pace so I have no need for walk.

The obvious "perfect world" solution to this would be to allow us to somehow choose exactly how any given character moves when they walk. Clearly that solution would probably be very hard for our Devs to implement software-wise. So without that perfect solution we are stuck with what we got.
I have some characters for whom that sexy walk animation is appropriate for. I have other characters who probably would not be caught dead walking like that. It's not a "one size fits all" power I and don't think it ever could be.
Basically we all have to accept it for what it is. As a power that was freely provided to us as a QoL update it's ultimately hard to be upset with its existence in the game one way or another at this point.

RPing. Which I do a lot of.
When I'm chatting, and fancy looking good while doing so, usually on my more visually 'cool' characters, like my Crab Spider, my 5th Column colonel...y'know how it is
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I turned it on once, showed it to a friend and never used it since. I also don't have any female toons so that may be another reason why I don't use it.

I use it often. If I have a character with no toggles to keep on all the time (like my Elec/Thermal Corr), I'll even switch it on during missions.
RPing. Check.
As for the walk on females. Alot of it comes down to how your female toon is made with the sliders.
Yeah, the walk looks like a sexy walk most of the time, but on some builds I've seen, it looks less sexier than usual.
Though I never thought it looked like a streetwalker walk.

I only walk when I'm not late for the bus. Which is never. Because I like to sleep in.

Trust the computer. The computer knows all.
All my characters are female, but I basically never use walk. I don't find it distasteful, it's just not appropriate for my characters' personalities.
with ninja run coming so soon after walk, i have to admit that i haven't used it much, i think i may have used it some, but honestly it was a request of the rpers, so i'm happy they have it for themselves.
I used it once on my female character, spent a few minutes looking at the sexy walk, then never turned it on again. RPing's not my thing, but even if it was my character secret identity isn't being a streetwalker.
I use it to power down fast (shut off all toggles with one click); it's perfect for Wentworths, because I don't have to worry about accidentally firing off one of my powers when I try to type a number; and I like it for roleplaying; btw, I think it looks good (on female toons).
Never. If God intended my characters to walk he would have never invented travel powers.

When do I like to walk? Let me put it this way: I'd completely forgotten they'd put Walk in the game until I saw this thread.
That being said, I'm glad folks who wanted Walk got what they wanted. It was a nice "we listen to you" gesture on the Dev's part.

thought turning WW's into a power suppression spot like that room in the AE buildings nobody ever goes into would've been good, but maybe just have the brokers emanate a small range "Walk" aura to forcibly detoggle you when you're in the market...not as big a problem as it used to be since there seems to be less people hanging out rocking their autofire heal auras or whatever nowadays. good healz0ring.
I've used Walk a number of times, sometimes just to move towards a goal at a leisurely pace, sometimes because it seems more relaxed when in small room buildings like shops and bases. You get a chance to see a lot more of the maps when you pass by alleyways and pavements. I sometimes wish another player would momentarily mistake my character for an NPC purely by the fact they're walking where civilians walk around.
I also use the Walk power for positioning on seats as well, I can even get my largest huge body-type characters into small seats and table setups because of this and it can even achieve that sort of 'character to environment' snap accuracy reserved for NPCs.
I didn't think of using walk as a passive rest power on autorun, I doubt I could walk across an even-level zone without monitoring the situation, but missions sound like a good idea.

Silly title for a partly silly thread, but having been looking at the same half a dozen active threads here for the past few days, I don't feel bad for creating a new one.
Here's an interesting question - now that it has been a while after the blowout over whether the Walk power is or is not great and things have had a chance to settle down, when do you find yourself walking? Do you walk at all, or have you forgotten about the power, as many predicted? Are there any special circumstances or characters which are more likely to make you walk more so than other?
My reason for posting this, of course, is selfish - I want to post my own situations and reasons They actually come in two varieties:
First and foremost, female characters. That... Is pretty much all that needs to be said about it. However, since I've never been one to shy away from saying what doesn't need to be said, let me elaborate. The female walk animation is sexy, and I'm fairly confident intentionally so. Some find it distasteful, some find it good, and I find it mesmerising. It works really well with costumes that take the Disney princess approach and go all navel, but it's good for other designs, as well. I've noticed that shorter legs tend to work better for the walk, but it's not too much of a problem either way. I have a few female character with whom I enjoy simply going on autorun walk down a long street towards my objective and just enjoying animation.
Secondly, Walk has begun filling in something of a hole in my builds. Those who've seen me post about builds pretty much at all will know I tend to skip Stamina (and those that don't, I just told you), which oftentimes leaves me with no endurance and Rest not recharged. I don't like it when it happens, but lacking the means to solve it for the time being, it happens just the same. So what to do? In the past, my options have been to Alt-Tab to the forums or watch TV, or to just jog slowly for the next spawn and hope there's a lot of ground to cover so my endurance can come back up. Recently, however, I've taken to just walking towards the next spawn, strolling slowly down the hallway in a dramatic fashion. It just looks good. Granted, it's slow, but I'm waiting on endurance anyway and my alternative is to sit on my hands, so I might as well. Truth be told, this is a lot cooler than waiting, since, again, it just looks very good.
Other than that, I don't have a lot of use for Walk because, as predicted, the novelty of the power isn't enough to overcome the simple utility of running to places. The only cases where I resort to walking are in situations where I'm not trying to get anywhere, or in situations where I'm hamstrung by other problems. I will occasionally just walk out of nowhere for kicks and jollies, that is a comparatively rare event, on the order of frequency of my using emotes, which is, again, not very often. But then, Walk was never the sort of power which would become integral to anyone's gameplay because of its limitations and lack of meaningful contribution. In this regard, having a consistent, even if somewhat rare use for is something I would consider a success.
So, do you use Walk at all, and if so, under what circumstances?
