I made 2 toons last night, one on Pinn and one on Freedom, of each faction, both got the badge.

I bet a Brazilian influence that there is more to this story. So many accounts banned that the user is NCSoft blacklisted? Also, why would they get a refund?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I'm thinking so too. I've heard scarcely few (read: zero) horror stories of CoH accounts being hacked and overtaken. Much less numerous times to the same person. And unless he's doing something awfully bad, there'd be no reason to ban all of his accounts, or blacklist his name.

This sounds more like a PEBCAK problem than anything. Exactly what precautions was this friend taking (or more accurately, not taking) that allowed him to be hacked multiple times?

And I don't get the whole fascination with beating up another player. But if that's your thing, I'm perfectly willing to leave you to it.

There was an older lady in my SG that got her account hacked a couple times. And every time it happened, she blamed NCSoft for not keeping her account secure until she finally got fed up and quit the game.

But hey, that's what happens when you don't change your password after the first time it happens. Or the second. ... or the third.

Can I just say that those badges look totally sweet. Time to log on to all my toons and get them. And then time to move around the ones that have been on the shelf for a bit so they can get their next day job badge.

How would you guys like it if the announcements only mentioned the EU time, simply ignoring the rest of the world players base?

It's common courtesy towards your customers I think. Since we're talking about loyalty and all...
When I was actively playing Age of Conan, all the times were announced in GMT. I never felt left out because I live on the East Coast of the US and they didn't tell me what the Eastern equivalent was. <shrug>

Righto. And it doesn't take too much thinking and searching to know your time zones.

All times should be UTC. End of!

On another note, a quick mention of thanks to support who sorted the badge for me in literally 20 mins of sending a support request to them!

Update on my friend's situation: She got her badge. She tells me the GM that helped her basically said "Oops, here you go." vv

Care to enlighten me as to who I beat up and when?

It's not a "you" as in you, it's a general "you." And it's not saying YOU PvP, it's saying "different people like different things, whether we understand or relate to them or not."

I guess I can accept that...

But my original statement of not getting the fascination with badges was not intended to denigrate those who do but rather just to say that... I really don't get it.

Is it because it's a way of keeping score? (I have more badges than you!)
Is it just another thing to collect? (Some people just love their beanie babies!)
Is it because it's another thing to do in the game you like? (I do find my 50's just sitting idle...)

I'm sure it's not the same answer for everyone (it never is) and maybe it's just because I'm a newb and haven't discovered the wonderfulness of badges yet... But I just haven't figured out what the draw is. *shrug*

Obviously, with something like this one where you get something hand in hand with the badge (access to Beta) I can see teh attraction of wanting that other thing... But if I didn't get a badge for hitting level X I wouldn't care less but I get the feeling some would raise holy heck over it

Anyway, I'll either figure it out someday or not... And I by no means wish to detract from the enjoyment of those who get it from badges... So [/hijack] and carry on with the thread as was

Support fixed mine in literally 20 mins. There's some kind of tech issue that means not everyone gets it immediatlely and their quick response tells me they know this.

Heh.

I logged on last night, got a very nice looking shiny new badge, and spend a short time wondering what I'd done to get it. Looked it over, no info available, saw a squirrel and forgot all about it.

NOW I know what it's for! Thank you for making a game I enjoy so much I prepaid, and never even had to think about keeping my account active!

The SysAdmin in me cringes at that tale. Sorry to say, I would have taken the same action, if she won't help herself...

I've always wondered about the faculties of people who are unable to remember anything but one single simple password. Makes you wonder whether they should have been issued drivers licenses.

Sounds like either PEBCAK or they used some RMT service.

However, on the flipside of the argument, the human brain can only remember so much. With the huge number of websites that any one person on the net can be subscribed to, would you insist that they have a seperate unique password for each and every one? Yes, most people are lazy, and there are those out there who will take advantage of that. Yet even when you tell Windows to save your passwords, more often than not you will still have to type in that password every few weeks or so.

Then again, my opinion is that the big computer companies and ISPs should actually be going after these malcontents - whom some experts are now warning are part of big organized crime syndicates, and no longer just some pimply-face teen in their parent's basement - rather than making regular 'net users feel like common criminals for just trying to access their fave websites. (Banking and adult websites being the exclusion in my mind - there's still the need to keep malcontents out of the former and minors out of the latter.)

I do indeed have the badges. I didn't think changing payment methods in the middle of the loyalty program would have any effect, and it appears I was right.
