Quote:The big red bold letters say: "**IMPORTANT: YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL RESPONSE TO THIS E-MAIL UNLESS YOU UPDATE YOUR QUESTION.**" This does not mean that they won't respond any further, they are saying they will only respond further if YOU update the support ticket. That is standard for support responses.Well, I took Zwill's advice and sent in a ticket regarding a refund issue. The "cut & paste" reply is still the same one they've been sending since the announcement. And they also advise (in big bold red letters) that there will be no further reply to my ticket. They are NOT helping.
This is the text of the response that I got when I asked about updating my credit card info (I got a new one between last time my sub fee was charged and now) - apologies if this is the same response everyone has been getting all along, but I haven't see everyone else's replies, so I figured I'd post this one:
"Hello,
We would first like to thank you for your support of City of Heroes. It is never easy to make this kind of decision. You can read the official announcement at http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/n.../thank_you.php. There is a discussion on the forums that you are free to join at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=295621.
For refunds of unused time or unspent Paragon Points, we will be contacting those players directly with information. Please watch the website for any official updates as soon as they are available.
City of Heroes will be available for at least the next three months. We are working on something special for our VIP and Premium players. As soon as these plans are ready, they will be announced on the website and the forums.
Regards,
The City of Heroes Support Team"
This says to me that they will A) contact me directly with details about refunds; and B) that they haven't set a definite end date for the game ("City of Heroes will be available for at least the next three months." --Emphasis mine).
I honestly don't think there is any more doom than there has been all along according to this response. Keep up the noise ... you never know who is listening. -
Quote:Uh ... do you not see the contradiction in your own statement here? I don't use Twitter. I don't really much LIKE Twitter. I pay a monthly fee for this game still, and I shouldn't have to USE Twitter to get anything. Promotions that utilize social media and are exclusive to such are rather unfair to your loyal customers who don't use said social media. By exclusively offering promotions via avenues that everyone does not use, you are, indeed, "playing favorites". At least be honest about it.We're focused on giving away these codes on Twiter right now. This isn't to say that Zwillinger or myself won't be caught on a random server from time to time broadcasting codes, but we won't be announcing it if/when we do.
We create promotions like this in order to get old/new/current City of Heroes players to join us on these sites as an extension of our community.
We will continue to support our other outlets (FB, G+ and our forums) with content/updates and will do our best to make sure that no matter what method you use, you have the most up to date information possible. If we've failed you in this regard, we certainly apologize, but it's not intentional (we don't play favorites).
Thanks for the feedback.

I will third or whatever Malwarebytes Anti-malware. I actually paid for a subscription and it runs nicely along with my anti-virus. I like it.

As for WoW's P2P implementation, it is easy to turn it off. And I do, every time I have a patch or expansion to download. Invariably, I get much faster downloads with the direct download option than with the P2P option. Also, WoW's P2P implementation works right through NAT with no special configuration, so I'm betting that Pando can, too.

Quote:However, upgrading will entail upgrading more than just the CPU - need to factor in DDR3 RAM as well. If you keep everything at the low end to keep costs down, I don't think you'd be gaining much of anything. Sometimes, depending on what you're looking to do in the future, it pays to spend as little as possible on the older tech until you save up enough to really make a leap forward. There are plenty of socket 775 MBs for sale at newegg in the $45-60 range. Its really a question of budget. If you have a "decent" 775 CPU then it might be worth spending for a new MB.
The reality is, 775 is pretty outdated and even low end Sandy Bridge CPUs are much faster and fairly inexpensive. However, $60 is a cheap fix but I don't like spending money on 6 year old Computer tech. -
I just voted. We are in third with 880 at 21.1% of the vote.

I steered clear of EVGA because of pricing for a while - then with my last graphics card purchase (August of 2010), I found an EVGA with a lifetime warranty at a competitive price. I bought it. I haven't seen them offer lifetime warranty for a long time since.

I'm not Hyperstrike, but when I do a side by side comparison, the main differences are the core clock, shader clock and effective memory clock speeds - plus the 256 bit adapter is "3D Vision Surround Ready". The first one in your list doesn't have as high an overall customer satisfaction rating as the second one (the superclocked one) but has 25 ratings, the second one has a great overall rating but has only 10 reviews. The third one has only 4 reviews...
Don't know if that was at all helpful, but there you have it. -
Oh, Ironblade, how I wish there was a "like" button on these forums!

According to what I just saw at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/s...eta/index.html, they are "back at the drawing board" for version 2.0 and are not offering either an alpha or beta version at this time.

She should be able to access her school data, copy it off the hard drive to temporary media or even CD or something. I would recommend that she do this even if the system doesn't have to be wiped.
There is a reason that computer repair companies opt to nuke and pave so often and so quickly ... it takes so much time to undo the minute details of the damage some programs can do to a computer. Getting the system back to "normal" and "quickly" probably means a factory restore after backing up important data.
Good luck!

Quote:That's where booting to safe mode to run driversweeper might help. Windows hangs onto stuff it thinks it is using and won't let you delete those in use items. By booting to safe mode, you free up those items that would normally be "in use" by the system, and they can be deleted.Same results with the 11.4 drivers. One thing I'm curious about, when I run driversweeper there are 2 registry entries it won't delete, from "CurrentControlSet". I honestly don't have a clue, I'm just wondering if those hould be sticking around or not.

Quote:My guess - unless I've missed something along the way here - is that you won't be buying anything with a credit card through the game client. You will buy points with your credit card through the NCSoft store online. The POINTS will be spent in the game client.Well, of course to lay out their infrastructure would be a major mistake, however they should be able to confirm that the new functionality to accept credit card and paypal payments within the game client has been built within accordance of the PCIDSS through an external audit and vulnerability assessment. This is new functionality being implemented. Security is best implemented at design time and not a bolt on at the end. If they have done their homework they should have all of that already mapped out and designed as they are close to starting a beta.
If they've already stated something different, please show me where so I can review it

Item B is now only $199 according to what I saw. I can't say for sure about the quality of the image - but my understanding of "dynamic contrast ratio" is that it is pretty much a useless number. There is no "standard" for dynamic contrast ratio, so one man's 3000:1 could be another man's 30000:1 for all we know. For me, response time is important ... 5 ms is ok, my 22 inch Samsung is 2 ms, and is very smooth.

Quote:Thank you for this! I used the NCSoft Launcher when I was playing Aion and I didn't like it much at all - but I had no idea there were any customizable options in it (not like they advertise this stuff) until I started reading posts on the forums. I very much appreciate the instructions and the screenshots!Okay guys. You've heard about it. Now it's here. The new NCSoft Launcher.
"But it's DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" right?
Not really. And with a bit of tweaking, you can get it outta your face and get yourself into the game with a minimum of fuss and muss.
So how do we go about this? Two easy steps and a couple tweaks...

Quote:Funny about personal preferences ... I LOVE the sewer entrance music - it sorta revs me up and makes me feel reckless and invincibleThe only good thing this change did, for ME, is it removed the music in the sewer entrances (Which I never understood why that was there, hehe).
Quote:If you could switch the emotes to be a part of the environment sounds rather than the music sounds, you'd make me rather happy!

Same for me - it worked on the Beta server every time as I recall, but now on Live, it has been hit and miss - out of 5 log out to character selections it logged me off with the "already logged in" message at least 2 of them - maybe 3 (it was late ...

Quote:This ^^^I learned the hard way if I can succeed in the game without Purps then why waste my time grinding for them. I would rather spend that time making a new toon (or 2), relaxing and chatting atlas, or just doing my thing instead of farming.
I enjoy playing the game. I enjoy making a little money on the market. And I enjoy it without uber purpled out builds. -

Quote:Most often they aren't even coming from the account - it's very common practice for spammers to spoof email addresses. Looking at the full headers of the email that someone has received from the OP should give a hint if that's the case or not.Sophos' anti rootkit tool helped me get rid of a nasty rootkit infection on my boyfriend's computer.
You say you've had emails sent out... have you confirmed they're coming from your computer rather than someone having access to, say, your hotmail username and password?

Quote:World of Warcraft is a poor example of a game that actually gives a video card a good workout. Even at higher video settings, WoW does not come close to using the same resources on the video card or cpu.i have been playing world of warcraft for countless hours as well i know its not my video card i updated to the beta nvidia drivers 260.63 before i had 258.96 and haven't seen the glitch so far.
Quote:It also only ever happens in grandville never anywhere else thats another thing if it was the video card it would happen anywhere in the game and i have seen this glitch a long time ago and my video card is not that old. the 8800 is old but this card is not
Quote:I know what i dying video card is like i have had alot of them and this thing has plenty of life left.
Quote:I appreciate the assistance and replies im not asking for help to fix it that i can do on my own all im asking is if anyone else has this same problem and has a newer video card Nvidia Specific also a overheating video card would normally freeze and can do things like that pic i posted but freezing would be involved mine never freezes
Quote:PS.
Im getting a new video card this week too so if it is dying wich i know its not then let it lol

Quote:You mean like some people have advocated for a lot of the stuff you say, je_saist? No offense intended, just poking you a bit.Given AT/DT's reputation, anytime anybody on that site says ANYTHING about AMD/ATi, it's best to have a 55 gallon drum of salt on hand.
Speaking of poking: I've been poking around the AMD website and there is NOTHING I can find so far to support this story. Not a single press release or thread or anything that makes it clear that this is a real AMD announcement. Not saying it is or isn't true, just saying that AMD's own website isn't supporting it that I can see. Does anyone have a link to an actual AMD press release?
