Thanks For Being Loyal!
My only stable paycheck is for $500 a month. And during the time of this promotion, I had to deal with a $4000 debt on my house. So, yes, that's my advice. If I managed to squeeze in $45 for COH, so can anyone. He mentioned smokes on his post, that's the first thing I'd cut off. Cancer is bad for you.
They mentioned it about a month BEFORE it happened. There were repeated announcements during the entire duration, but there was plenty of warning before the period started. |
And Quitting is actually MORE expensive then continuing the habit.
Funny how what I quoted says $45 and what it now says is $180.
Sorry but not everybody can afford $180 bucks in this country where the unemployment rate nationwide is at a all time high.

After seeing today the new trailer of Aion, i dont see any reason to wait for that beta to come, even if i'm selected in all 3 tiers. I probably can easy say i'm among the people that spent the most on this game, and what you get? Delayed crap.

Bullstuff. Quitting costs nothing. If you want to dump money in 'treatments' it's only because you don't believe in your own ability to quit.

I appreciate that you have made sacrifices for this game that make you more loyal than someone who just paid their account for three months--but that was the RULES of this whole program: keep account active for X months. You don't have to think of it as a loyalty program if you don't want to. Right or wrong, that is the name the incentive program was given.
And really, are you suggesting that the program was deliberate constructed to discriminate against people who smoke?
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. And you haven't walked a day in my shoes to know how rough it is where I'm at. So don't assume you know everything when in fact, you know nothing.

I can't afford the medication for what I have and this is the closest thing I got. Back to the "loyalty" badge now plz kthxbai.
With all respect, we didn't volunteer these items as collateral for meriting a badge awarded in a loyalty program.

When life throws you lemons... the main reason why I dismiss "my life is hard" stories is because I've had, and sometimes still have, quite a very difficult life. Bad stuff happens all the time, and life is hardly ever fair. You either fortify yourself and decide that you won't let it bring you down and you'll make things work no matter what, or you live stressed and miserable.

He made the mention of cutting off my cigs when in the end that would cause me stress, and possible panic attacks later on down the line. Perhaps causing me my home, any future job I might get (in the middle of quitting) or friends because I flipped out on them. I can't afford the medication for what I have and this is the closest thing I got. Back to the "loyalty" badge now plz kthxbai. |
Just have to say. . . WHAT?!?!?!?
Wow, no wonder our country is in the state it is. Dude, it's a badge. Read the rules. Understand active means. . . Well active. Understand lapsed means. . . lapsed. . . Realize you are wrong and move on.
Saying something that is entirely controlled by you is not your fault is insane. Of course, I guess that is America nowadays. Everything is someone else's fault even when it isn't. I have run a couple companies in my lifetime and currently am a department head at my current employ; let me say this is one of the first attitudes I look for when hiring someone. . . So I know to never, ever hire that person.

Anyway, I still made my payments where applicable and because of something Out of my direct control (AKA The dates I get paid) I was unable to pay on the 26th because it came before my usual payment day (Wendsday) in October.
Something I stated way far back but yet you trolls like to nit-pick parts of the message that have nothing to do with the end result..
I'm done.

You do not deserve the badge you account was not active between the specified dates.

GI: I am at least sorry for your troubles, both monetary and otherwise, but I do have to agree that these issues make the fact that you're complaining about not getting a badge that you don't qualify for a little silly. And the fact that you only make $180 a week puts you well below the poverty line. I'm sure there are circumstances that you don't want to discuss here, and in fact definitely shouldn't discuss in this thread, but you either need to get a second job or a better paying one, or else you'll continue to be stuck in this paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle and you'll never build up any sort of emergency savings. </parental figure>
We either need to get back to the subject at hand, or, as is probably the case, let this thread die. Or we can keep going on this way until a mod locks it.

TBH like most, this might make or break my sub as it has for others. I know in the end I'm a drop in the bucket for NCSoft and that doesn't really matter to them (and besides I've been feeling a bit burnt-out lately with CoX)
10-1 I'll go back to Oblivion modding and playing that to keep myself busy between jobdango/monster/craigslist searches but this Beta access was one of the few things keeping me intrested and now it appears that might be gone. I've pleaded my case ad-nauseum to support in this last E-mail to them.
How they respond is going to make the decision to stay or go.
2 days till my sub expires again (I do month-to-month) and I've been contemplating letting it stay that way.
May 26th 2005 here. Which brings an interesting point: I should have the Celebrant badge, which was awarded in May 26th 2005. But because of something "out of my control", I don't have it. Should I start complaining a lot about how unfair it is, or shrug, go "it's just a badge" and move on? I chose the latter. It's one badge out of almost 700. It won't kill me.
|
The Loyalty badge is not just a badge, its 3rd tier beta access to GR. (or is it 4th... anyway)
This is one of the few things keeping me intrested in this game as stated above. If the beta access is denied, NCSoft can expect me to not be renewing my sub on the 28th.
The celebrant badge is just that. A badge.

As the bearer of a laundry list of mental illness issues myself, I can sympathize. But if you joined CoX in June of this year and feel burned out? Maybe the game isn't worth the cost right now.
Think about what your biggest priority is. It's not the game. Maybe walking away for awhile is the best option?
There is no such thing as an "innocent bystander"
Then I guess you won't be renewing. The rules were clear and simple: maintain the account active for 3 months. Lucky666 may have been too blunt in putting it, but he or she still speaks the truth: you did not meet the criteria for this promotion, and therefore are not eligible. If NCsoft were to make an exception for you, they'd also have to make an exception for every sob story that comes around. No exceptions means the rules are fair for everybody.

Now it seems thats no longer there so *shrugs* Q2 of 2010 I guess.
Let me just say that if the stories about lack of money and unemployment and stuff are as bad as people say, you really have more important things to worry about. I have my priorities, same as everybody else. I'm broke and unemployed too, but I managed to scrape together something to make sure I got in because it's important to me. I have sympathy for people in the same situation as me, but I know from experience that if you want something bad enough, you can make it happen. It's nobody else's job but your own.
And quitting smoking, like all addictions, can only happen if you legitimately WANT to quit. Most people put forth a half-hearted few day attempt and give up when they don't meet immediate results. Or rely too much on patches, gum, or other tools. The only way to quit is with willpower, and if you convince yourself that it's too hard or just really don't want to do it, it will never happen.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

I don't see it as a sob story, I see it as unforseen circumstances beyond my immediate control. as in me getting paid on Wendsday instead of Friday. and I don't have a calandar I look at every day of every month to see what day is on when. The 26th of October was a Monday, 2 days before I got paid.
End. Of. Story. |
Second, personal issues do not change the fact that you did not meet the criteria for the promotion. The days you get paid are out of NCsoft's control, too.

b.s. some times stuff happens that even if you want it bad enough just cannot be achieve. did ya enjoy digging in the couch for those pennies? you got the badge, good for you, other people were not so lucky to find pennies in their couch to pay for their account.

It's not about finding pennies in the couch. When you know you have to spend on something, even if you are sure you can't afford it, the best way to go about it is to bite a bullet and spend it. Once that money is gone and you know you can't count on it, you'll find ways to somehow reach the next paycheck, even if it means rice and noodles for a week. I don't think an online game is worth going that far, but I do believe that if you were told "if you do X you'll get Y", and you don't do X, then you have no right to complain about not getting Y.

I just heard something that caused me to wonder if anyone was actually quitting over not getting a badge for continuous payment during X amount of time because they didn't follow the rules for getting the badge.
Now I know that it is happening.
I am truly astounded by this fact even though I know I shouldn't be.
Be well, people of CoH.
