Bring back rep comments!

I miss reading them. I got more constructive criticism out of it than anything which to me was very useful. I didnt know they were disabled till today. I just thought no one was repping my posts. Why is it that people who are offended by something always seem to get whatever offends them removed. Fine I'll play by their game! I'm offended that they're offended and want the removal removed!

This is a move by the mods that is guaranteed to annoy anyone who had any sort of stake in the reputation mechanism. So, good job not showing favouritism, I guess.

It was another method by which people were being harassed on the forums, so it was disabled. It wouldn't bother me if the whole thing were chucked - it's just another little game that people are playing.

Agreed with the OP - bring it back.

You don't like it, disable it and click on the "minus" sign next to the rep comments in your User CP : you'll never see comments again.

There's no need to ruin the system for everyone because a few can't bother to make such a simple manipulation.

You can still get those comments. People just need to email you instead. Therefore, frankly... you're not losing anything.

I would like the option to see my rep comments.
But they could be left as optional, so as not to bother trolls who post garbage by letting them see criticism of thier rants.

I wouldn't mind if they were anonymous or tagged with the writer's name.

As it is, I can put in a rep comment to praise a post, but the poster will probably never see it. Or I can derail a thread's main topic by posting a fluff post like "/signed!" or "Awesome idea!", wich detracts from the conversation.

And here I thought I'd screwed some of my settings and accidentally hidden them. I spent a while on the Options panel yesterday scratching my head.

My vote's to bring them back on a separate page, so you have to consciously click on it to see the rep comments. I don't mind them being anonymous and I don't mind the occasional insult.

I miss them too. Right now it's too complicated to figure out who's commented or when on what posts, I would far rather just deal with whoever decides to slam me on a single basis.

I mean... that's how it SHOULD have been dealt with, right? Why punish those of us who don't spam awful things on accounts, when it's obviously just one or two (or a dozen) people who should have their priveleges taken from THEM? Seriously. Stop punishing everyone for the bad actions of a couple.

I've been collecting my rep comments and posting them in a thread in forum games. But ever since this change, it's too much work to do.

However I HAVE noticed an interesting phenomenon. Ever since the new boards, I've been slowly gaining more and more rep even though I would get just about as many negative marks as positive. But the positive motion still kept going no matter what.

Now, with rep comments not easily visible, and without me being able to post those comments on the boards... it appears that my rep score is slowly going down the last few days.

It appears that people are negging me now that would NOT have negged me before, possibly because the comments cannot easily be seen and possibly because I'm not bothering to go through all my posts to collect and post the neg comments.

I find this fascinating that with even greater anonymity comes even greater negative behavior. Has anyone else seen this pattern, or is it just me?

I had to consciously click on the User CP to see them anyway. They really shouldn't have been the first thing people saw when they came online unless they intentionally set it up that way.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I wish there was at least an easy way to see which posts were rated without having to hunt for individual posts (which I think someone said is how it's done now but I still haven't figured it out). My rep has gone up and I kind of wish I knew which posts I made helped get the praise. I'm not so worried about the comments, just knowing the posts.

I'm at the lows of -2 because a couple of people wanted to 'test' negative rep. I really don't care if they canned the comments or even decide to bin the entire system. It's more of a forum game then an actual indicator of the type of person anyway.

I'm pretty much one of those people who'll post what I want without aiming to get positive or negative rep.

Bring it back! Don't make me start making snide comments to people's faces!

Seriously though. It was better before you messed with it. Either leave it the way it was, or pitch the whole thing.

Guess they should chuck that too?

Its not like I will die from lack of attention. It was just a nice feature I enjoyed using. I'm sorry if the forum cartels and other people with a high post count got hated on by idiot trolls. (at least thats what I'm guessing based on the amount of dislike some of you pillars of the community seem to have for the rep system) It seems there are two major problems with it. First is that rep is completely anonymous between non-mod users unless you choose to self identify. Second is that the mods are very lenient with the forum rule #16 The Zero Tolerance Policy which I'm sad to say after rereading it some of my comments if taken the wrong way would violate it. I cannot undo whats been done so if I get banned or suspended as a result of this next bit so be it.

Enforce the rules instead of taking away some of the forum functionality. Use that Mod Stick! Abusive forum trolls are immune to flames but not the epic greatclub that is the Mod Stick.

They can bring back the rep comments if they make it so they aren't anonymous.

The people that got the comments removed were the ones making comments they would never say in an open forum where their names were attached.
