For me:

"Trust me," Indiana Jones.

What's your "best movie line" ever?

Posted

for me:

"These aren't the droids you're looking for."

and it's always fun to substitute "droids" with whatever fits the situation.

ie... These are not the Oreo's you're looking for. Move along

Thirds post, and already I'm gonna cheat by posting two because I just can't pick one over the other.

Both are from Secondhand Lions that I watched with the kids a few weeks ago. I'd probably pick differently if another movie was still in my head, but there it is.

Quote:
" I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY! "
Quote:
" Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love...true love never dies. You remember that boy, you remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see a person should believe in those things because those are the things worth believing in. "

Secondhand Lions was a really good movie.

Not a very popular movie, but Benedict from The Last Action Hero was an incredible villain. A real backstabbing mastermind. When he left one chamber of his gun empty to draw Arnold's character out, that was just awesome. At the end of a monologue outlining his plan, he looked into the camera and said this line.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!" - robocop

I think even though it's been like 15 years or so since I've seen Robocop (the first one) I can still quote a lot of it. It was probably the most quotable movie I bothered to quote from, actually. I mean, I love other films and Robocop is *not* my favorite movie ever, but it's certainly got a ton of quotables.

"Pretty simple math, huh Bob?"

"Stay out of ... trubble."

"They'll fix you. They fix everything."

hrmmmm - a lot of good lines are already posted here . . .

Secondhand Lions is a great movie (and if you listen to the director's commentary - you can play a drinking game w/ the # of times he mentions Austin )

(slightly pharaphrased as I can never get it correct from memory) from The Philidelphia Story: "I'm standing here solidly on my own two hands going crazy." {my best (and oft used) movie line }

Just for the quirkiness of it; from the Blues Brothers.

And only because no one can dead pan like Christopher Walken. From Joe Dirt.

I LOVED that line from Second Hand Lions. Great movie.

Just one? I'm not sure "there can be only one".

Inigo Montoya's line certainly feels like top ten stuff. That whole movie is chock full of good lines.

I also like:
Bond: You expect me to talk Goldfinger?
Goldfinger: No Mr. Bond. I expect you to die.

The Second Hand Lions quotes are outstanding. Lots of good ones already but here's a one we find ourselves quoting often from Aliens which is just full of good quotes:

Newt: They mostly come out at night... mostly

We like to add "mostly" to anything someone says is always or mostly true, of course we say it the same way Newt said it in the movie.

Runners up:
Down Periscope: Admiral's son (can't remember character's name): Dress rehersal for hell boys!

Aliens had a similar line from Hudson but I've reached my limit.

Now I know what movie to watch this weekend.

Perhaps make it a double feature and toss in Top Secret!

Thanks River.
