The ability to customize the interface with keybinds and macros. There are few other games that I have played that have the level of customization and capability available here.
-
I have been wanting to get in on this for quite a while. My Peanut Butter is L50 and I've had my Window Sludge parked at L25 for a while as other projects took my time.
Don't wait up for me but, if I get the chance, I'll pop in and hop into any open slots if there's any room. -

Quote:Sadly, (on many levels) there are very few games interest me. I have a lifetime subsccription with that other game and I'll probably end up playing there more often, but I really don't have much interest in any other genre. I really liked the Star Wars X-Wing/TIE Fighter games, but I can't find anything comparable.I don't think you have to worry about anyone from CoH giving NcSoft their custom ever again.
Mork from Ork: "Woah! Heavy sigh."
Oh, well. Life does go on. Kind of. -
Heh. I might do this once in a while.

I prefer to play solo, but I remember having fun on the Corruptor Crew (although, I couldn't get that name to stick for that event).
Meeting and getting to know--and snarking around with--some of the players, like Yce (What's up, Frosty?) and Tricky (fond memories of that burlap bag--it's somewhere in the base, I think). [More name dropping: The few times running with Stalemate, Cassiopia (BFG Girl) and their SG mates; Badge mission call outs with JAnlee (I hope you're all right, wherever you are); Zek's elf project (that was pretty neat).]
My own little meta-game of trying to out-inform Stargeek when people had questions about the game.
The few times that Badge asked me to be Targeter (as Rinto the flying rhino--watch out for rhino bombs!) for the old Hami Raid--and the one time that he died inside me.
The drama, the melodrama, watching (and ocassionally being one of) the kvetching people on the forums and in broadcast.
The radio station that insulted Protector during that one dev event and how the people here stood up for each other--defending 'the little server that DOES'.
While I have many quibbles about the decisions that the devs made concerning the game, it has been an enjoyable diversion.
I'll admit it: I'll miss this place. -
Sorry about the forced semi-retirement. I remember some of the badge runs [and Badge runs] we did together: It was fun. Best of luck with the lurking; keep your tights pressed. -

I don't know about Capt. Taggert, but Navin R. Johnson has discovered what to do with his special purpose.

Quote:Goes to hide the Silas Gray effigy in the closet--many other effigies fall out...I usually have a decent memory, and in light of your recent post in Have Fun Here, I gotta say...
What are you talking about? I don't remember you doing anything that would cause a huge amount of fallout.
You want to come back, come back, man! I can't promise we'll throw a party, but I don't think anybody's been burning effigies in your name.

All right, who's going to clean up this mess? -

Quote:I wouldn't be much bothered by this, either, if this was the case; or some reasonable parity. This is perfect
If this was the only way to get ATOs and Catalysts, I probably would not complain about it; as much.
Snow Globe is accurate; no contortion made. -
Quote:You can use the slash command "/chatset *" to set the active channel, like this:If everybody else is in love with these skill testers, could us older folks with older eyes and hands at least get an option to have double size buttons. We have a option to pick the old or new Team UI after all.
/chatset b
/chatset broadcast
Both of those will set your current channel to broadcast. Each of the standard channels can be called using the full name or (usually) just the first letter of the channel.
This command can also be used to switch to Global Channels using the entire name of the channel, including spaces. -
Quote:If you want to change just the appearance (transparencies and such) and not the functionality, right-click the desktop, select "Personalize" at the bottom of the context menu and scroll to the bottom of the window that opens and you can select the "Classic" windows appearance. While I may hate Windows 7, I was delighted that I can run my Radeon HD 5550 video card on an appropriate PCI slot and with 6GB of RAM the game now runs on Ultra Mode on the highest settings like glass.
I still hate Win 7. I like my interfaces to be cold and unfeeling. -
Quote:Homey don't play tha--Glad to have you join our server, guys.
As always, if you find yourself wanting a more personal approach to ingame assistance, the mentor Project can help you out.
You'll find, as I have these last 7+ years, that Protector can be quite homey.
Oh, wait... -
Pointing your camera straight down and zooming out (if necessary) should help. It is a horribly designed map.

As per tradition for your birthday, you can come out of the burlap bag.
Tomorrow, it's back in for you! -
Quote:To the best of my knowledge, as of right now, there is no availability for SG renames unless it is found to be against terms of use for the game (i.e., a GM changes the name). And SGs do not transfer with a character transfer. SGs remain on the original server or, if there are no longer any members, it is disbanded.I'm hoping to take advantage of this same feature for a 4 year old SG. My original SG was on Liberty (crickets....) And the danged thing actually got huge. Then I got wise and headed to Freedom. And it died. But that big old warehouse is still sitting there. Worse...I named it Vanguard Line. Right before RWZ came out, I swear. It was a phrase an old gaming buddy used to use for a books/dice RP game. I thought it was sooo cool. lol. Anyways, I want the whole 30mil prestige base moved, and a new SG name. (*fly hands)
As for the renaming:
If you use the new character creator, create a name in the name field, click the "search glass" and get a green check mark, that name is reserved, even if you change that name in that field but don't check for another name. To release that name, you have to change the name in that name field and click the "search glass".
Whether you need to get a green check which then reserves that newly-searched name, I am not certain. -
I wasn't really planning on participating but I was awake and decided the Kheldian TF might be interesting. I ended up hanging out for almost the whole day; It was fun.
Suggestions:
* Make the event a festival spread out over two weeks with, perhaps, a few events during the bookended week for people who might not be able to attend on the week ends. It did have a festival atmosphere and felt very casual.
* The rushed costume contests was a bit of chaotic fun, but I think spreading them out a little more throughout the day would be better. Perhaps have a two hour window for TF runs followed by an hour of themed costume contests; seems like a decent break for people doing TFs and, if they aren't so interested in the costume contests, they could run another TF or Tips or other missions in the meanwhile and would also allow for people who might have limited time to play to participate in at least one of the contests or TF runs.
* Have multiple TF/mission-based events at the same time. This might seem frustrating at first, but it might make it seem more active, give people choices and might make people come back to the next one: "Man I missed out on that Roman-themed ITF, but I got the Badges for the Positron two-part run. I'll have to remember to join the themed event next time."
Overall:
It was handled very, very well. I don't want to sound like I had no faith in the event, but I was rather surprised at how well it went. As an inaugural event, it was great. Perhaps, with the apparent success of this event, you might be able to get the Community Reps for NC Soft to get the company to put a link for the next event in the NC game launcher. Maybe get them to put up a link for this past event to make people aware of what it was and prepare for the next one; to point out that "Freedom" isn't because the game is dying and show them how active the game community is even on little, old, dead Protector. -
I got one of these for about $50.00 (U.S.) at a Meijer (a 24-hour, kind-of, super store).

Is there a slash command for chatting in the league channel as there are commands for all the other channels, such as "/l" and "/local"?
Edit:
I found the commands:
/lc
/league
/leaguechat
Can anyone tell me if they actually work because I don't have the opportunity to test them myself? Specifically, I use the "chatset" command to cycle through all the chat channels but I can't get league chat to work this way. -
Check my signature for some more information on the Combat Monitor.

I'm pretty sure that Eagle's Claw does give a bonus to Critical Hit chance. After a successful hit with Eagle's Claw, you should get an icon in your buff list under your Status Window that matches the Icon for Eagle's Claw. Keep an eye on that to see the duration of the buff and you should be able to check for yourself if other actions interrupt it. (The Info Window for that buff indicates that 'you are stunned', but you're not).
I haven't played a Martial Arts character with Eagle's Claw in a while so I can't give any more useful information on it. -
I will thank Sammy Davis, Jr., the singer/dancer/actor.
[Note: I have nothing against the player, Sammy Davis, Jr.]
