Yeah, I'm really hoping this isn't the Natural booster, because there are more Natural concepts than just martial artists. But, I'm not sure what else could be added to a Natural booster. New guns? Cowboy clothing?

Well, there goes another 9.99. At least my new tank who's only travel power is a 9:22 minute left jetpack will have a new way to get around.

I just checked it out with my lvl 25 MM with 3 slotted Hurdle and she can jump at 63 MPH which is approaching SS' base numbers. And I can confirm that CJ toggles off automatically when NJ is on and vice versa for easy switching back and forth in combat.

On my super reflexes Stalker with Ninja Run, Swift, Sprint, Hurdle, and Quickness... as well as some sets like 3 Gift of the Ancients... run speed is 65ish mph and some nice jump height. Very nice power.

There's more to Magic than the stage magicky stuff we got (why no faeries or elementals?). There's more Technology than Cyborg stuff (why no gadgets?).

They never said the Origin themed Boosters would be appropriate for all concepts that fit in that origin. They just said they'd exemplify the Origin or enhance a theme within it.

They haven't moved on to a new round yet, and we still have one origin to cover. Trying to say the Martial Arts booster represents a change in the Boosters is a porpoise/dolphin argument.

Ummm...*ahem*...I'M INDECENT!

Seriously! I'm turning on the Ninja Run power, and when I have my costume with tights on (male character), let's say that certain before-hidden body parts are quite prominent when I'm jumping.

Not that this is a compaint at all! I'm rather relieved that the devs are FINALLY giving guys some equal physical equality here. I think...

As for the Booster itself, let me just say you made one little lemur very happy today guys. Bouncing around and flipping and whooshing has been what LL always did "in my head" and now it's right there in front of me.

For the sake of some other characters I have, I'm hoping someday you guys revisit Sprint, and make all the variants thereof customizable versions of a single Power, then re-allow the slotting of Universal Travel sets in it. That would make for some nicely efficient slotting, without being gamebreaking, and would dovetail so nicely into this new power you added today.

Martial Artist is the perfect personification of the Natural origin... for the standard comic book world and action genre.

If you're a powerless super badas, of course you must know some kind of martial choreography.

I have been working on an arc based on the Outlaws of the Marsh and could use some more Asian themed costumes and weapons besides all the Japanese ones.

Among the awesome things about Ninja Run on a Katana/SR:

1) Running with the katana out is supremely cool. Point down at the side in the classic pose when running, sword-arm wraps around body with jump/flip. Just great.

2) When you run backwards you turn towards the camera and run while peeking over your shoulder.

3) Jumping backwards leads to a FULL LAYOUT BACKFLIP! *squeeeeee!*

Also, with Quickness(1 IO)+Hurdle(1 IO)+Sprint(1 IO)+NR my lvl 39 has Run Speed 50 mph and Jump 57 mph. Not quite up to the capped 86 mph I get with SS, but darn good!


68 Level 50s, all made the old-fashioned way.
Original: Quasar Lad - Fire/Kin troller. Latest: Asp Kicker - Grav/Poison troller.
Completed the "Full Alty Challenge" - level 50 in every archetype, and "Alty's Ultimate Power Challenge" - level 50 in every available powerset in the game.

Well, my main, Hidden Hero isn't a ninja.....however she is a huge anime fan. So she's happily cosplaying away.


Oh and I know there's a different standing stance for characters with weapons but I don't know exactly if they show up while running.

In other notes... this is perfect for some of my toons that may have taken CJ; not only for the vert but for jump control as well. Those particular toons may find themselves respeccing into another power.

As far as comparing it to CJ or SS; it has no Def, no Immob protection, no Stealth and is unslottable (although it would be nice to have that option for those of Natural origin; *winkwinknudgenudge*; j/k)

Despite it being the perfect booster for Naturals; they didn't label it as such (like they've done with the other Super Boosters). So whether or not it actually is the Natural Super Booster remains to be seen (any Devs care to clarify)?

Someone else already mentioned quivers, scabbards, etc. I'd also like to see more pirate (specifically swashbuckler), knight, D&D class-type stuff (ranger, thief, etc). I know we can already get close with what we have, but we also had a lot of ninja-y stuff already too. It's not like there's a shortage, we just want more. ;]

When the Cyborg booster came out, we did not yet know they were going to do origin based boosters. Then they did magic pack, and a redname said 'Hmm, cyborg, magic, maybe the other origins will be next?' - I'm paraphrasing, but the Devs absolutely consider CYBORG pack an origin-based pack. Ergo, the Ninja pack has a very high probability of being the Natural booster.

Edit: I also remember an interview with someone (Posi?) in which someone begged for animal heads and tails, and that redname said "Hmm, sounds like a mutant booster to me!" - Now, whether or not the mutant booster had already been started, or whether or not animal features will be in the mutant booster, I don't know. But a redname said it, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

There are a few things I want to bring up about Ninja Run.

1) Detoggles my Combat Jumping.
This I can probably get over.

2) It suppresses when you attack. =(
When fighting with this on, it is completely supressed and you don't get any benifit from it, just like a travel power.

Note: I have not tested in a PvP zone

3) It is unenhanceable.
This is another point that I can probably get over. The devs wanted to give us a good power without the ability for it to become over powered.

4) It costs double the endurance of sprint.
This falls under the overpowered part of the power as the point above states. If it didn't cost any end, then it could definitely be called over powered.

5) Doesn't work in Granite :/
Not that big of a deal, just saw that some one asked about it and wanted to note that it doesn't.



Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
