The City of Heroes Super Booster IV: Martial Arts is out!
Face 10 is what I am using. It does it to all the faces though. Even when you make a new character.

The shape settings are:
Average 1
Average 2
Average 3
Average 4
Youthful
Strong
Intellectual
Thin
Square
Bold settings do not cause bald spots for Braided Buns, underlined settings do. So 5 out of 9 settings cause female pattern baldness. My guess is that the buns are being pulled a little too tight.
Dr. Todt's theme.

As she asked me before I did not change the shape of the head. Which was the first Q. Her second was if changed my face settings to one of the NEW faces that came out in one the more recent expansions.
Bought and tested the Martial Arts pack last night and I am very impressed! The sonic vision goggles are too cool for words and Ninja Run has really made traveling through the alleyways and rooftops of the Rogue Isles a breeze!

One problem.

Either way, less work for everyone.

Top villian -Poisoned Plum lvl 30 robots/devices Mastermind
So...are you suggesting people shouldn't have ideas if they're already in other games
|
Like for example Cryptic could perhaps copyright the name "nemesis system", but they couldn't copyright the idea of making a player-created nemesis system
@Golden Girl
City of Heroes comics and artwork
I'm not sure it'd be possible to copyright stuff like that anyway - maybe the looks and names, but not the actual mechanics.

But that's off-topic.

Also, since most of the technology of this game was developed by Cryptic in the first place, likely NCSoft paid to license the patents. So whether Cryptic or Paragon continue to develop content based on the same patents, I'm guessing they can't sue each other over it. As long as one or the other doesn't develop something worthy of a new patent.
So...are you suggesting people shouldn't have ideas if they're already in other games, or that we shouldn't add things to this game that have been in other games?

I grew bored of CO but found myself missing the acrobatics power. It provided the perfect median between the more extreme Super Speed and Super Jump, which I might have found myself otherwise taking out of necessity, rather than concept. And, lo and behold, CoH introduces a similar power with its own minor twists, and I couldn't be happier.*
As long as we're expressing opinions, I find it a little juvenile to dismiss new content purely on the basis of apparent originality, as if the Walk animation were somehow pointless because other popular MMO's have had them since launch, or Ninja Run is somehow less valuable because CO introduced a similar power months ago.
Barring the obvious fallacy inherent in assuming innovation = originality (it's not the same thing. CO might have originally implemented an Acrobatics power, but that doesn't mean the power is inherently their idea), MMORPGs learn from each other *all* the time, and adapting ideas and features from other games is not only accepted but expected. If you don't believe me, try a Public Quest in WAR, and then finish the tutorial in CO. Or spend five minutes with WoW's UI, and then five minutes in LOTRO. Another game may have done it "first", but that doesn't mean the idea is exclusively theirs.
In fact, this is how we get 'mainstream' in games: ideas that become so popular that they are essentially ubiquitous.
*If we had a version of a Swinging powerset, I might. :3
There are several lawsuits out there against NCSoft, Blizzard, Sony, etc. by people who have supposedly patented "interaction with other people through the Internet in 3D environments" and "communicating with people across the Internet with text messages", which basically applies to all MMOs. So it's possible to patent a system, regardless of how obtuse or silly most of us think it is. Holding up the patent in court can be a different situation altogether.
But that's off-topic. |
This probably had patent trolls worried, IMO.
Still here, even after all this time!
Hmmm... The Atari 2600 Superman game had flying in it and laser beam eyes.
I've been holding my tongue until now... but yeah... blatant rip off!!!
Not going to touch all the stuff about paying for extras and all (not getting into that)...
The only thing I think is a new concern is special animation styles for certain powers... And whether or not that will affect/limit potential power customization.
In other words... different run styles and even leaping animations are something that would be terrific for power customization.
- Would having the Ninja Run being a special booster power prevent those amazing animations from being included in power customization options for other powers? (Sprint, Super Speed, Super Leaping, etc.)
- Would Ninja Run ever be open to power customization or would it be deemed only ever going to have that particular animation style?
Not complaining nor doomsaying... just wondering aloud (or... through my fingers, at least).
Some great animation work being done over there, team!!
(Heh, and the costumes look pretty nice too, from the little I've seen thus far)

Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

I just want to reiterate, now that I've had time to experience fully the MA Booster..
Jay is forever sexy...
and now BABS is F!#$ING SCRUMPTIOUS!

COMING SOON: A new Epic that will change the way you see Arachnos...
Brought to you by @Equation
FYI to folks who may not know, building a costume change bind or macro that includes "em none" at the beginning will help prevent the supression of the animation.
|
Just FYI, some more changes coming to the Ninja Run animations in the near future:
- Going to look at the deformation in the spine during some of the jump moves. Looks especially odd on some of the female models because of how the geometry is built/weighted
- Dual Pistols/Claws will be getting a more appropriate set of animations (namely the ready stance and runs)
- "Shotgun" mode will be getting a more appropriate set of animations.
- Shield combat mode (without a weapon) will be getting a more appropriate set of animations.
Jay and Cheryl are also looking into various issues with costume pieces.

Wat?
These aren't mentioned on the wiki or the information provided here about the booster.
Pics or it didn't happen

Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges

So please, does anyone know the actual title for the ninja leap and smoke bomb emotes?

ccsmokebomb
It's been mentioned in this thread already. By BABs, even.

Very informative, and thank you, but I think what was being asked was the actual costume change emote title to use. I have tried using "ccninjaleap" and "ccninja_leap" in that equation with no luck. So please, does anyone know the actual title for the ninja leap and smoke bomb emotes?
|
Probably "ccninjaleap" should be set up as a synonym.
The problem is that emotes now work while in combat modes, but the costume change animations were not flagged to interrupt some of the combat modes. It's already been fixed on my end, just waiting for it to percolate into a build.
Just FYI, some more changes coming to the Ninja Run animations in the near future:

I also noticed that at least one of the bows for Archery have the bow turned at such an angle that the bowstring is almost entirely clipping with the body. I'll see if I can post pictures of that when I get home.
Good to hear there are tweaks coming... much kudos to the unnamed animator who did do/is doing so much work on it!
