Why do I have to buy Going Rogue in Europe?

To answer your question, you don't have to buy anything at all. Consider what it has to offer. Decide whether it is worth it to you. If it is, buy it. If it isn't, don't buy it. Problem solved.

Yup, one of the weekly DOOOOMMM tm subjects. While I support the idea of server mergers or server list mergers we stopped discussing this on the EU Forums because quite frankly everything had been said and the Dev's told us that there were no plans to do any such things.

Of course I am willing to jump on the board with this subject for our American friends

I'd love a server list merge...the opportunity to go from 2 english speaking servers to 13 would be too much for my altitis to handle.

Awwwwww. I feel so much empathy for those benighted souls FORCED to read yet another thread they don't like about stuff that they hate, like people being concerned about a potential server-merge. Lord knows, they have guns to their heads in case they miss a single word they can flame!

Hostility is hostility. I don't care about these qualifiers of yours; nothing justifies "Don't like it? Cancel your sub and GET OUT!!" its just plain rude, and its a disservice to the game. If the developers want to kick some one out of the game, they will do so without directives from people posting on these forums. I would bet money on it.

I'm right here in the USA. Buying it in Europe is not an issue for me. [You're saying "you" without a qualifying "general," so what else am I to think....]

Well, the Germans and French might object.

Me too and the idea of being able to get a team. You know, a pug again? They used to be quite common. Now if I want to have a full team I either farm for a special mob to get that badge or join a TF. Sigh.

I'm not sure I see an issue, give the NA people the EU client, so they'll not use the French and German bits (without a server list merge), so what?

More impotantly there will be ONE client and from a development veiwpoint thats a BIG plus.

Doubt it most of them speak English and I suspect would love 11 new servers.

It's very odd I never have a problem getting a PUG on Union or Defiant, infact I managed to get into an 8 villian PUG the other tuesday afternoon on defiant and it wasn't AE!

I'm guessing the OP is on a French or German server. I play on the two English EU servers, and there are always people running about. Even when I'm off sick and I log in during work hours I bump into plenty of other players. And Going Rogue is going to rule.

TINY bit off topic but who ze hell keeps tagging every single thread with tunnel snakes? lol

As Vigilance (french server) goes, our population peak of the past month may have been 150. Last time I saw 200 players? Hm... for a DXP event maybe, but I'm not even sure. Finding a PuG is impossible. So, if you want to level a toon up, either you play solo, or you know some friends to play with you. Last time we made a Hami Raid? Hm... 2 months before I9 maybe. PvP? Well, sometimes there are 2 or 3 players in RV, but all the other zones are always empty. TFs? If you want to find 8 players to try one, you got to plan it a week before (hopefuly, a player made a tool for that).

So, I can't see how you can enjoy playing CoH on such a dead-server. I love this game. But as the time goes, the population decreases, and we hit a point were you just can't play the game as it is supposed because they're not enough people to play it with you.
I don't know if the people that are responsible of servers at Paragon Studios realize that, but french and german servers are on the way to their death. I know many people that leaves the game because they can't find team, they can't PvP anymore... And that leads to a vicious circle...

I would pay a lot (and I know other people that would too) in order to get my account transfered in NA. It has became impossible to "play" (as intended) on Vigilance.

So please, devs, do something... (but I don't know if I post in the best topic to be heard...)

That is Bad Influence. One of the colorful characters on the NA forums, known for taking things out of context in order to start arguments.

I think merging the server lists would be beneficial to both sides of the pond, and I believe it would most certainly be worth the hassle of figuring out the logistics involved. I think it would even be beneficial to me as an individual. After all, I've been meaning to learn German for a long time and the extra server would be enough of an incentive to push me into finally doing it.

Sure, I could start a new account and move to the NA side. But losing all the toons I love, losing all the effort I put into them, losing 48 months of vet rewards I am attached to, not to mention all those packs I bought, I have all but the last two.

Now I could go and abandon it all to play on the NA servers, having to pay again for the privilege of playing this game To be honest I rather start playing CO then star again from scratch.

I would love to get access to those 11 extra servers though.
Don't want to start again but would prefer to start again (in a new game with less content) than start again in a game you apparently love?

I have had team invites on Defiant Villains... even *shock* random invites with no tell, which hardly happens on Hero side.

I wouldn't by choice move to the US servers but wouldn't object to having the lists merge, which IMO will happen at some point anyway.

EU is by no means dead, GR I think (hope) will vastly improve all levels and sides with more people in game.

...and remember, come I16 levels won't really matter any more at all thanks to super side kicking!

Yes. Don't forget that even a little new content is better then 0 new content.

Not saying it is impossible to get a PuG, hey everybody can be lucky now and then, but they are rather rare. Especially compared to what it used to be. When I play, I assume that I will be soloing and the AT's I play reflect this. Soloing is fine but kinda lonely for a mmorpg.

I do NOT expect GR to enlarge the population of any of the EU servers by anything but a small margin. The EU branch is not dead, but the doctors at NCSoft don't intend to invest much into us anymore. (removed a bit of rant here). I like our Dev's to act and bring us EU people over to the NA side before the EU servers get even more depopulated. Preferably before I give up on this game.

I'm really looking forward to the superside kicking for easy teamage.

Hope the pug situation improves for ya after it.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

CO e.g.
Or... you know, make friends with people who play at the same time you do. I refuse to accept that any server is so low population that you cannot find people to play with on a regular basis, if you use the tools available. Just because you can't find random people PuGs at all hours, doesn't mean the server is unplayable.

Besides, to answer your original question:
Quote:

Because when it comes out, chances are that is where most of the people still on the EU servers will be making new characters, or playing old characters. Isn't that kind of obvious to anyone else?

Yeah, well had I been taking anyone in the entire EU to task, this might be relevant. As things stand now, it's rather.... not.

Telling people to quit the game [as the OP was invited to do by several people due to the fact that he was concerned about losing his characters due to a merge with the NA servers] is just plain not cool. You can call that a "flame" all you want: the facts stand unchanged.

'Ave a nice day, mate.

last year, Euro population was about 10 % of 120 k overall ppl.

its prolly the % same now.

but 120 turned to 60...

The % remains the same.

Issue is: at what income margin' u get rid of a server?

as for the NA dudes: this aint good news. (if you like the game).

its a mix.

1/personnal eyesight: i bought CO earlier, played 2 hours, and half the gamers where globals i know from CoX.

2/mmorpg charts dated from last year , but showing the curve and market shares for cox. (as a reminder, 1/since then, the WW market made ppl leave, B/AE made ppl leave.)
last digits shows the decrease.

3/subscribers in europe: both from mmorpg (sub linked) and NC Year's results.

4/ efforts in marketing???? (even free mmos can afford adds on a web newspaper..)

5/ my fav channs. community here. most players are gone within the past 3 weeks.

This does not mean they wont come bk.

But it will take more than I16.

As for the links, im tired.

http://www.mmogchart.com/

http://www.ncsoft.net/global/ir/quarterly.aspx

etc.

Just google it, if you show any interest , besides ur altitis.

Okay. So you are relying on eyesite and charts dated from last year. You say you see your friends on CO. Do you have 60,000 friends?

I ask for a SOURCE not an opinion. At this point, it's moot. Since you have to result to personal attacks rather than facts, I have to assume you have no facts at all and are here merely to bait and to flame, and have nothing constructive to contribute to any conversation. You are, therefore, ignored. Good day to you sir.
